1 C ontend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.

Combate, oh Señor, a los que me combaten; ataca a los que me atacan.

2 T ake hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

Echa mano del broquel y del escudo, y levántate en mi ayuda.

3 B randish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, “I am your salvation.”

Empuña también la lanza y el hacha para enfrentarte a los que me persiguen; di a mi alma: Yo soy tu salvación.

4 L et those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.

Sean avergonzados y confundidos los que buscan mi vida; sean puestos en fuga y humillados los que traman el mal contra mí.

5 L et them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh’s angel driving them on.

Sean como paja delante del viento, con el ángel del Señor acosándo los.

6 L et their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.

Sea su camino tenebroso y resbaladizo, con el ángel del Señor persiguiéndolos.

7 F or without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

Porque sin causa me tendieron su red; sin causa cavaron fosa para mi alma.

8 L et destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction.

Que venga destrucción sobre él sin darse cuenta, y la red que él mismo tendió lo prenda, ¡que caiga en esa misma destrucción!

9 M y soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. It shall rejoice in his salvation.

Y mi alma se regocijará en el Señor; en su salvación se gozará.

10 A ll my bones shall say, “Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”

Dirán todos mis huesos: Señor, ¿quién como tú, que libras al afligido de aquel que es más fuerte que él, sí, al afligido y al necesitado de aquel que lo despoja ?

11 U nrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don’t know about.

Se levantan testigos malvados, y de lo que no sé me preguntan.

12 T hey reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.

Me devuelven mal por bien para aflicción de mi alma.

13 B ut as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.

Pero yo, cuando ellos estaban enfermos, vestía de cilicio; humillé mi alma con ayuno, y mi oración se repetía en mi pecho.

14 I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.

Como por mi amigo, como por mi hermano, andaba de aquí para allá; como el que está de duelo por la madre, enlutado me encorvaba.

15 B ut in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it. They tore at me, and didn’t cease.

Pero ellos se alegraron en mi tropiezo, y se reunieron; los agresores, a quienes no conocía, se juntaron contra mí; me despedazaban sin cesar.

16 L ike the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.

Como bufones impíos en una fiesta, rechinaban sus dientes contra mí.

17 L ord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.

¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, estarás mirando ? Rescata mi alma de sus estragos, mi única vida de los leones.

18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.

En la gran congregación te daré gracias; entre mucha gente te alabaré.

19 D on’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.

No permitas que se regocijen a costa mía los que injustamente son mis enemigos, ni que guiñen el ojo con malicia los que sin causa me aborrecen.

20 F or they don’t speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.

Porque ellos no hablan paz, sino que piensan palabras engañosas contra los pacíficos de la tierra,

21 Y es, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, “Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!”

y abrieron bien grande su boca contra mí; dijeron: ¡Ajá, ajá, nuestros ojos lo han visto!

22 Y ou have seen it, Yahweh. Don’t keep silent. Lord, don’t be far from me.

Tú lo has visto, Señor, no calles; Señor, no estés lejos de mí.

23 W ake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!

Despierta y levántate para mi defensa y para mi causa, Dios mío y Señor mío.

24 V indicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. Don’t let them gloat over me.

Júzgame conforme a tu justicia, oh Señor, Dios mío; que no se rían de mí.

25 D on’t let them say in their heart, “Aha! That’s the way we want it!” Don’t let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”

Que no digan en su corazón: ¡Ajá, lo que queríamos! Que no digan: ¡Lo hemos devorado!

26 L et them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.

Sean avergonzados y humillados a una los que se alegran de mi mal; cúbranse de vergüenza y deshonra los que se engrandecen contra mí.

27 L et them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause. Yes, let them say continually, “Yahweh be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!”

Canten de júbilo y regocíjense los que favorecen mi vindicación; y digan continuamente: Engrandecido sea el Señor, que se deleita en la paz de su siervo.

28 M y tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.

Y mi lengua hablará de tu justicia y de tu alabanza todo el día.
