1 H iram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 D avid perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.

3 D avid took more wives at Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters.

8 W hen the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them.

Al oír los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre todo Israel, todos los filisteos subieron en busca de David; y cuando David se enteró, salió contra ellos.

9 N ow the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

Pues los filisteos habían venido y hecho una incursión en el valle de Refaim.

10 D avid inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”

David consultó a Dios, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el Señor le dijo: Sube, porque los entregaré en tu mano.

11 S o they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

Entonces subieron a Baal-perazim, y David los derrotó allí. Y dijo David: Dios ha abierto brecha entre mis enemigos por mi mano, como brecha de aguas. Por eso llamó aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

12 T hey left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burned with fire.

Y ellos abandonaron allí sus dioses, y David ordenó que fueran quemados.

13 T he Philistines made a another raid in the valley.

Después los filisteos hicieron de nuevo otra incursión en el valle.

14 D avid inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees.

David volvió a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: No subas contra ellos; dales un rodeo por detrás, y sal a ellos frente a las balsameras.

15 W hen you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

Y cuando oigas el sonido de marcha en las copas de las balsameras, entonces saldrás a la batalla, porque Dios ya habrá salido delante de ti para herir al ejército de los filisteos.

16 D avid did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

David hizo tal como Dios le había mandado, e hirieron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

17 T he fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

La fama de David se extendió por todas aquellas tierras, y el Señor puso el terror de David sobre todas las naciones.
