1 N ow while the multitude pressed on him and heard the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.

Y aconteció que mientras la multitud se agolpaba sobre El para oír la palabra de Dios, estando Jesús junto al lago de Genesaret,

2 H e saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

vio dos barcas que estaban a la orilla del lago, pero los pescadores habían bajado de ellas y lavaban las redes.

3 H e entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.

Subiendo a una de las barcas, que era de Simón, pidió que se separara de tierra un poco; y sentándose, enseñaba a las multitudes desde la barca.

4 W hen he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”

Cuando terminó de hablar, dijo a Simón: Sal a la parte más profunda y echad vuestras redes para pescar.

5 S imon answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”

Respondiendo Simón, dijo: Maestro, hemos estado trabajando toda la noche y no hemos pescado nada, pero porque tú lo pides, echaré las redes.

6 W hen they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.

Y cuando lo hicieron, encerraron una gran cantidad de peces, de modo que sus redes se rompían;

7 T hey beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.

entonces hicieron señas a sus compañeros que estaban en la otra barca para que vinieran a ayudarlos. Y vinieron y llenaron ambas barcas, de tal manera que se hundían.

8 B ut Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”

Al ver esto, Simón Pedro cayó a los pies de Jesús, diciendo: ¡Apártate de mí, Señor, pues soy hombre pecador!

9 F or he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;

Porque el asombro se había apoderado de él y de todos sus compañeros, por la redada de peces que habían hecho;

10 a nd so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”

y lo mismo les sucedió también a Jacobo y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran socios de Simón. Y Jesús dijo a Simón: No temas; desde ahora serás pescador de hombres.

11 W hen they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

Y después de traer las barcas a tierra, dejándolo todo, le siguieron. Curación de un leproso

12 W hile he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”

Y aconteció que estando Jesús en una de las ciudades, he aquí, había allí un hombre lleno de lepra; y cuando vio a Jesús, cayó sobre su rostro y le rogó, diciendo: Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.

13 H e stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.

Extendiendo Jesús la mano, lo tocó, diciendo: Quiero; sé limpio. Y al instante la lepra lo dejó.

14 H e commanded him to tell no one, “But go your way, and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing according to what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”

Y El le mandó que no se lo dijera a nadie. Pero anda — le dijo —, muéstrate al sacerdote y da una ofrenda por tu purificación según lo ordenó Moisés, para que les sirva de testimonio.

15 B ut the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

Y su fama se difundía cada vez más, y grandes multitudes se congregaban para oír le y ser sanadas de sus enfermedades.

16 B ut he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.

Pero con frecuencia El se retiraba a lugares solitarios y oraba. Curación de un paralítico

17 O n one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was with him to heal them.

Y un día que El estaba enseñando, había allí sentados algunos fariseos y maestros de la ley que habían venido de todas las aldeas de Galilea y Judea, y de Jerusalén; y el poder del Señor estaba con El para sanar.

18 B ehold, men brought a paralyzed man on a cot, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Jesus.

Y he aquí, unos hombres trajeron en una camilla a un hombre que estaba paralítico; y trataban de meterlo y ponerlo delante de Jesús.

19 N ot finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Jesus.

Y no hallando cómo introducirlo debido a la multitud, subieron a la azotea y lo bajaron con la camilla a través del techo, poniéndolo en medio, delante de Jesús.

20 S eeing their faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

Viendo Jesús la fe de ellos, dijo: Hombre, tus pecados te son perdonados.

21 T he scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”

Entonces los escribas y fariseos comenzaron a discurrir, diciendo: ¿Quién es éste que habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados, sino sólo Dios ?

22 B ut Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered them, “Why are you reasoning so in your hearts?

Conociendo Jesús sus pensamientos, respondió y les dijo: ¿Por qué discurrís en vuestros corazones?

23 W hich is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you;’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk?’

¿Qué es más fácil, decir: “Tus pecados te son perdonados”, o decir: “Levántate y anda”?

24 B ut that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (he said to the paralyzed man), “I tell you, arise, and take up your cot, and go to your house.”

Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del Hombre tiene autoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados (dijo al paralítico ): A ti te digo: Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.

25 I mmediately he rose up before them, and took up that which he was laying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God.

Y al instante se levantó delante de ellos, tomó la camilla en que había estado acostado, y se fue a su casa glorificando a Dios.

26 A mazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. They were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”

Y el asombro se apoderó de todos y glorificaban a Dios; y se llenaron de temor, diciendo: Hoy hemos visto cosas extraordinarias. Llamamiento de Leví y la cena en su casa

27 A fter these things he went out, and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me!”

Después de esto, Jesús salió y se fijó en un recaudador de impuestos llamado Leví, sentado en la oficina de los tributos, y le dijo: Sígueme.

28 H e left everything, and rose up and followed him.

Y él, dejándolo todo, se levantó y le seguía.

29 L evi made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.

Y Leví le ofreció un gran banquete en su casa; y había un grupo grande de recaudadores de impuestos y de otros que estaban sentados a la mesa con ellos.

30 T heir scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”

Y los fariseos y sus escribas se quejaban a los discípulos de Jesús, diciendo: ¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con los recaudadores de impuestos y con los pecadores?

31 J esus answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.

Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los que están enfermos.

32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

No he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores al arrepentimiento. Pregunta sobre el ayuno

33 T hey said to him, “Why do John’s disciples often fast and pray, likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink?”

Y ellos le dijeron: Los discípulos de Juan ayunan con frecuencia y hacen oraciones; los de los fariseos también hacen lo mismo, pero los tuyos comen y beben.

34 H e said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

Entonces Jesús les dijo: ¿Acaso podéis hacer que los acompañantes del novio ayunen mientras el novio está con ellos?

35 B ut the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days.”

Pero vendrán días cuando el novio les será quitado, entonces ayunarán en aquellos días.

36 H e also told a parable to them. “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old garment, or else he will tear the new, and also the piece from the new will not match the old.

También les dijo una parábola: Nadie corta un pedazo de un vestido nuevo y lo pone en un vestido viejo; porque entonces romperá el nuevo, y el pedazo del nuevo no armonizará con el viejo.

37 N o one puts new wine into old wine skins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.

Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos, porque entonces el vino nuevo romperá los odres y se derramará, y los odres se perderán,

38 B ut new wine must be put into fresh wine skins, and both are preserved.

sino que el vino nuevo debe echarse en odres nuevos.

39 N o man having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”

Y nadie, después de beber vino añejo, desea vino nuevo, porque dice: “El añejo es mejor.”
