Porque tengo presente la fe sincera que hay en ti, la cual habitó primero en tu abuela Loida y en tu madre Eunice, y estoy seguro que en ti también.

6 F or this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Por lo cual te recuerdo que avives el fuego del don de Dios que hay en ti por la imposición de mis manos.

7 F or God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.

8 T herefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,

Por tanto, no te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, prisionero suyo, sino participa conmigo en las aflicciones por el evangelio, según el poder de Dios,

9 w ho saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

quien nos ha salvado y nos ha llamado con un llamamiento santo, no según nuestras obras, sino según su propósito y según la gracia que nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús desde la eternidad,

10 b ut has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

y que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Cristo Jesús, quien abolió la muerte y sacó a la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por medio del evangelio,

11 F or this, I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

para el cual yo fui constituido predicador, apóstol y maestro.

12 F or this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.

Por lo cual también sufro estas cosas, pero no me avergüenzo; porque yo sé en quién he creído, y estoy convencido de que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito hasta aquel día.

Ya sabes esto, que todos los que están en Asia me han vuelto la espalda, entre los cuales están Figelo y Hermógenes.

Conceda el Señor misericordia a la casa de Onesíforo, porque muchas veces me dio refrigerio y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas,

17 b ut when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me

antes bien, cuando estuvo en Roma, me buscó con afán y me halló;

18 ( the Lord grant to him to find the Lord’s mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.

que el Señor le conceda hallar misericordia del Señor en aquel día. Además, los servicios que prestó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.
