1 T he children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

Y los hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y el Señor los entregó en manos de los filisteos por cuarenta años.

2 T here was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless.

Y había un hombre de Zora, de la familia de los danitas, el cual se llamaba Manoa; su mujer era estéril y no había tenido hijos.

3 Y ahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

Entonces el ángel del Señor se le apareció a la mujer, y le dijo: He aquí, tú eres estéril y no has tenido hijos, pero concebirás y darás a luz un hijo.

4 N ow therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing:

Ahora pues, cuídate de no beber vino ni licor, y de no comer ninguna cosa inmunda.

5 f or, behold, you shall conceive, and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Pues he aquí, concebirás y darás a luz un hijo; no pasará navaja sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno; y él comenzará a salvar a Israel de manos de los filisteos.

6 T hen the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name;

Y la mujer fue y se lo dijo a su marido, diciendo: Un hombre de Dios vino a mí, y su aspecto era como el aspecto del ángel de Dios, muy imponente. Yo no le pregunté de dónde venía, ni él me hizo saber su nombre.

7 b ut he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”

Pero él me dijo: “He aquí, concebirás y darás a luz un hijo; desde ahora no beberás vino ni licor, ni comerás cosa inmunda, porque el niño será nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno hasta el día de su muerte.”

8 T hen Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you sent come again to us, and teach us what we should do to the child who shall be born.”

Entonces Manoa imploró al Señor, y dijo: Te ruego Señor, que el hombre de Dios que tú enviaste venga otra vez a nosotros, para que nos enseñe lo que hemos de hacer con el niño que ha de nacer.

9 G od listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field, but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.

Y Dios escuchó la voz de Manoa. Y el ángel de Dios vino otra vez a la mujer cuando estaba sentada en el campo; y Manoa su marido no estaba con ella.

10 T he woman hurried and ran, and told her husband, and said to him, “Behold, the man who came to me that day has appeared to me,”

Y la mujer corrió rápidamente y avisó a su marido, y le dijo: He aquí, se me ha aparecido el hombre que vino el otro día.

11 M anoah arose, and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” He said, “I am.”

Manoa se levantó y siguió a su mujer, y cuando llegó al hombre, le dijo: ¿Eres el hombre que habló a la mujer ? Y él respondió: Yo soy.

12 M anoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”

Y Manoa dijo: Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cómo debe ser el modo de vivir del muchacho y cuál su vocación?

13 Y ahweh’s angel said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.

Y el ángel del Señor dijo a Manoa: Que la mujer atienda a todo lo que le dije.

14 S he may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”

No comerá nada que venga de la vid, no beberá vino ni licor, ni comerá nada inmundo; que guarde ella todo lo que le he mandado. Visión de Manoa y nacimiento de Sansón

15 M anoah said to Yahweh’s angel, “Please stay with us, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”

Entonces Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: Permítenos detenerte y prepararte un cabrito.

16 Y ahweh’s angel said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat your bread. If you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was Yahweh’s angel.

Y el ángel del Señor respondió a Manoa: Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu alimento, mas si preparas un holocausto, ofrécelo al Señor. Y Manoa no sabía que era el ángel del Señor.

17 M anoah said to Yahweh’s angel, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?”

Y Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: ¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumplan tus palabras, te honremos?

18 Y ahweh’s angel said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is incomprehensible ?”

Y el ángel del Señor le respondió: ¿Por qué preguntas mi nombre, viendo que es maravilloso ?

19 S o Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh. Then the angel did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.

Y Manoa tomó el cabrito con la ofrenda de cereal y los ofreció sobre una piedra al Señor, y el ángel hizo maravillas mientras que Manoa y su mujer observaban.

20 F or when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, Yahweh’s angel ascended in the flame of the altar. Manoah and his wife watched; and they fell on their faces to the ground.

Pues sucedió que cuando la llama subía del altar hacia el cielo, el ángel del Señor ascendió en la llama del altar. Al ver esto, Manoa y su mujer cayeron rostro en tierra.

21 B ut Yahweh’s angel didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was Yahweh’s angel.

Y el ángel del Señor no volvió a aparecer a Manoa ni a su mujer. Entonces Manoa supo que era el ángel del Señor.

22 M anoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”

Y Manoa dijo a su mujer: Ciertamente moriremos, porque hemos visto a Dios.

23 B ut his wife said to him, “If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, and he wouldn’t he have shown us all these things, nor would he have told us such things as these at this time.”

Pero su mujer le dijo: Si el Señor hubiera deseado matarnos, no habría aceptado el holocausto ni la ofrenda de cereal de nuestras manos; tampoco nos habría mostrado todas estas cosas, ni nos habría permitido ahora oír cosas como éstas.

24 T he woman bore a son, and named him Samson. The child grew, and Yahweh blessed him.

Y la mujer dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Sansón. Y el niño creció y el Señor lo bendijo.

25 Y ahweh’s Spirit began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Y el Espíritu del Señor comenzó a manifestarse en él en Mahané-dan, entre Zora y Estaol.
