1 L a suave respuesta aparta el furor, mas la palabra hiriente hace subir la ira.

A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

2 L a lengua del sabio hace grato el conocimiento, pero la boca de los necios habla necedades.

The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.

3 E n todo lugar están los ojos del Señor, observando a los malos y a los buenos.

The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

4 L a lengua apacible es árbol de vida, mas la perversidad en ella quebranta el espíritu.

A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

5 E l necio rechaza la disciplina de su padre, mas el que acepta la reprensión es prudente.

A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.

6 E n la casa del justo hay mucha riqueza, pero en las ganancias del impío hay turbación.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

7 L os labios de los sabios esparcen conocimiento, pero no así el corazón de los necios.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

8 E l sacrificio de los impíos es abominación al Señor, mas la oración de los rectos es su deleite.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

9 A bominación al Señor es el camino del impío, y El ama al que sigue la justicia.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

10 L a disciplina severa es para el que abandona el camino; el que aborrece la reprensión morirá.

There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; And he that hateth reproof shall die.

11 E l Seol y el Abadón están delante del Señor, ¡cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!

Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men!

12 E l escarnecedor no ama al que lo reprende, ni se allegará a los sabios.

A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.

13 E l corazón gozoso alegra el rostro, pero en la tristeza del corazón se quebranta el espíritu.

A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

14 E l corazón inteligente busca conocimiento, mas la boca de los necios se alimenta de necedades.

The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.

15 T odos los días del afligido son malos, pero el de corazón alegre tiene un banquete continuo.

All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.

16 M ejor es lo poco con el temor del Señor, que gran tesoro y turbación con él.

Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

17 M ejor es un plato de legumbres donde hay amor, que buey engordado y odio con él.

Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

18 E l hombre irascible suscita riñas, pero el lento para la ira apacigua contiendas.

A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

19 E l camino del perezoso es como un seto de espinos, mas la senda de los rectos es una calzada.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.

20 E l hijo sabio alegra al padre, pero el hombre necio desprecia a su madre.

A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21 L a necedad es alegría para el insensato, pero el hombre inteligente anda rectamente.

Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.

22 S in consulta, los planes se frustran, pero con muchos consejeros, triunfan.

Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

23 E l hombre se alegra con la respuesta adecuada, y una palabra a tiempo, ¡cuán agradable es!

A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!

24 L a senda de vida para el sabio es hacia arriba, para que se aparte del Seol que está abajo.

To the wise the way of life goeth upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.

25 E l Señor derribará la casa de los soberbios, pero afianzará los linderos de la viuda.

Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.

26 A bominación al Señor son los planes perversos, mas las palabras agradables son puras.

Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words are pure.

27 P erturba su casa el que tiene ganancias ilícitas, pero el que aborrece el soborno, vivirá.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.

28 E l corazón del justo medita cómo responder, mas la boca de los impíos habla lo malo.

The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

29 E l Señor está lejos de los impíos, pero escucha la oración de los justos.

Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30 L a luz de los ojos alegra el corazón, y las buenas noticias fortalecen los huesos.

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; And good tidings make the bones fat.

31 E l oído que escucha las reprensiones de la vida, morará entre los sabios.

The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise.

32 E l que tiene en poco la disciplina se desprecia a sí mismo, mas el que escucha las reprensiones adquiere entendimiento.

He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.

33 E l temor del Señor es instrucción de sabiduría, y antes de la gloria está la humildad.

The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor goeth humility.
