1 Y vivió Sara ciento veintisiete años; estos fueron los años de la vida de Sara.

And the life of Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years. These were the years of the life of Sarah.

2 Y murió Sara en Quiriat-arba, que es Hebrón, en la tierra de Canaán; y Abraham fue a hacer duelo por Sara y a llorar por ella.

And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

3 D espués Abraham se levantó de delante de la difunta, y habló a los hijos de Het, diciendo:

And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spake unto the children of Heth, saying,

4 E xtranjero y peregrino soy entre vosotros; dadme en propiedad una sepultura entre vosotros, para que pueda sepultar a mi difunta de delante de mí.

I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

5 Y los hijos de Het respondieron a Abraham, diciéndole:

And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,

6 O yenos, señor nuestro: eres un príncipe poderoso entre nosotros; sepulta a tu difunta en el mejor de nuestros sepulcros, pues ninguno de nosotros te negará su sepulcro para que sepultes a tu difunta.

Hear us, my lord. Thou art a prince of God among us. In the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead. None of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.

7 A braham se levantó e hizo una reverencia al pueblo de aquella tierra, los hijos de Het,

And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

8 y habló con ellos, diciendo: Si es vuestra voluntad que yo sepulte a mi difunta de delante de mí, oídme e interceded por mí con Efrón, hijo de Zohar,

And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,

9 p ara que me dé la cueva de Macpela que le pertenece, que está al extremo de su campo. Que en presencia de vosotros me la dé por un precio justo en posesión para una sepultura.

that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field. For the full price let him give it to me in the midst of you for a possession of a burying-place.

10 E frón estaba sentado entre los hijos de Het; y Efrón hitita respondió a Abraham a oídos de los hijos de Het y de todos los que entraban por la puerta de su ciudad, diciendo:

Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

11 N o, señor mío, escúchame; te doy el campo y te doy la cueva que está en él. A la vista de los hijos de mi pueblo te lo doy; sepulta a tu difunta.

Nay, my lord, hear me. The field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee. In the presence of the children of my people give I it thee. Bury thy dead.

12 E ntonces Abraham se inclinó delante del pueblo de aquella tierra,

And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.

13 y habló a Efrón a oídos del pueblo de aquella tierra, diciendo: Te ruego que me oigas; te daré el precio del campo; acépta lo de mí, para que pueda sepultar allí a mi difunta.

And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt, I pray thee, hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

14 E frón respondió a Abraham, diciéndole:

And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,

15 S eñor mío, óyeme: una tierra que vale cuatrocientos siclos de plata, ¿qué es eso entre tú y yo? Sepulta, pues, a tu difunta.

My lord, hearken unto me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that betwixt me and thee? Bury therefore thy dead.

16 Y oyó Abraham a Efrón; y Abraham pesó a Efrón la plata que éste había mencionado a oídos de los hijos de Het: cuatrocientos siclos de plata, medida comercial.

And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron. And Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the audience of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.

17 A sí el campo de Efrón que está en Macpela, frente a Mamre, el campo y la cueva que hay en él, y todos los árboles en el campo dentro de sus confines, fueron cedidos

So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure

18 a Abraham en propiedad a la vista de los hijos de Het, delante de todos los que entraban por la puerta de su ciudad.

unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.

19 D espués de esto, Abraham sepultó a Sara su mujer en la cueva del campo de Macpela frente a Mamre, esto es, Hebrón, en la tierra de Canaán.

And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.

20 Y el campo y la cueva que hay en él fueron cedidos a Abraham en posesión para una sepultura, por los hijos de Het.

And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.
