1 H iram, rey de Tiro, envió mensajeros a David, con madera de cedro, albañiles y carpinteros, para edificarle una casa.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

2 Y comprendió David que el Señor lo había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que su reino había sido exaltado en gran manera por amor a su pueblo Israel.

And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel's sake.

3 E ntonces David tomó más mujeres en Jerusalén, y engendró David más hijos e hijas.

And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.

4 Y estos son los nombres de los hijos que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 I bhar, Elisúa, Elpelet,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

6 N oga, Nefeg, Jafía,

and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 E lisama, Beeliada y Elifelet.

and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 A l oír los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre todo Israel, todos los filisteos subieron en busca de David; y cuando David se enteró, salió contra ellos.

And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.

9 P ues los filisteos habían venido y hecho una incursión en el valle de Refaim.

Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

10 D avid consultó a Dios, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el Señor le dijo: Sube, porque los entregaré en tu mano.

And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.

11 E ntonces subieron a Baal-perazim, y David los derrotó allí. Y dijo David: Dios ha abierto brecha entre mis enemigos por mi mano, como brecha de aguas. Por eso llamó aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and David said, God hath broken mine enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

12 Y ellos abandonaron allí sus dioses, y David ordenó que fueran quemados.

And they left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13 D espués los filisteos hicieron de nuevo otra incursión en el valle.

And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.

14 D avid volvió a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: No subas contra ellos; dales un rodeo por detrás, y sal a ellos frente a las balsameras.

And David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.

15 Y cuando oigas el sonido de marcha en las copas de las balsameras, entonces saldrás a la batalla, porque Dios ya habrá salido delante de ti para herir al ejército de los filisteos.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God is gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16 D avid hizo tal como Dios le había mandado, e hirieron al ejército de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

And David did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

17 L a fama de David se extendió por todas aquellas tierras, y el Señor puso el terror de David sobre todas las naciones.

And the fame of David went out into all lands; and Jehovah brought the fear of him upon all nations.
