1 E n el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, subió Baasa, rey de Israel, contra Judá y fortificó Ramá para prevenir que nadie saliera o entrara en ayuda de Asa, rey de Judá.

In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2 E ntonces Asa sacó plata y oro de los tesoros de la casa del Señor y de la casa del rey, y los envió a Ben-adad, rey de Aram, que habitaba en Damasco, diciendo:

Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Jehovah and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

3 H aya alianza entre tú y yo, como hubo entre mi padre y tu padre. He aquí, te he enviado plata y oro; ve, rompe tu alianza con Baasa, rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí.

There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

4 Y escuchó Ben-adad al rey Asa y envió a los comandantes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel, y conquistaron Ijón, Dan, Bel-maim y todas las ciudades de almacenaje de Neftalí.

And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store-cities of Naphtali.

5 Y sucedió que cuando Baasa lo oyó, dejó de fortificar Ramá, y abandonó su obra.

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease.

6 E ntonces el rey Asa trajo a todo Judá, y se llevaron las piedras de Ramá y la madera con que Baasa había estado edificando, y con ellas fortificó Geba y Mizpa.

Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

7 E n aquel tiempo el vidente Hananí vino a Asa, rey de Judá, y le dijo: Por cuanto te has apoyado en el rey de Aram y no te has apoyado en el Señor tu Dios, por eso el ejército del rey de Aram ha escapado de tu mano.

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.

8 ¿ No eran los etíopes y los libios un ejército numeroso con muchísimos carros y hombres de a caballo ? Sin embargo, porque te apoyaste en el Señor, El los entregó en tu mano.

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge host, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yet, because thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand.

9 P orque los ojos del Señor recorren toda la tierra para fortalecer a aquellos cuyo corazón es completamente suyo. Tú has obrado neciamente en esto. Ciertamente, desde ahora habrá guerras contra ti.

For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

10 E ntonces Asa se irritó contra el vidente y lo metió en la cárcel, porque estaba enojado contra él por esto. Y por ese tiempo, Asa oprimió a algunos del pueblo.

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison-house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

11 L os hechos de Asa, los primeros y los postreros, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.

And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12 E n el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asa se enfermó de los pies. Su enfermedad era grave, pero aun en su enfermedad no buscó al Señor, sino a los médicos.

And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Jehovah, but to the physicians.

13 Y Asa durmió con sus padres. Murió el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado.

And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

14 Y lo sepultaron en el sepulcro que él había excavado para sí en la ciudad de David, y lo pusieron sobre el lecho que él había llenado de especias de varias clases, mezcladas según el arte de los perfumistas; y le encendieron una hoguera muy grande.

And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers' art: and they made a very great burning for him.
