1 P ërgjigja e ëmbël e fashit zemërimin, por fjala therëse e nxit zemërimin.

A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

2 G juha e të urtëve përdor dijen ndershmërisht, por goja e budallenjve nxjerr marrëzira.

The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.

3 S ytë e Zotit janë kudo për të shikuar të këqijtë dhe të mirët.

The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

4 N jë gjuhë e shëndoshë është një dru i jetës, por gjuha e çoroditur e sfilit shpirtin.

A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

5 B udallai e përçmon korrigjimin e atit të tij, por ai që e çmon kritikën vepron me zgjuarsi.

A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.

6 N ë shtëpinë e të drejtit ka bollëk të madh, por në të ardhurat e të pabesit ka telashe.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

7 B uzët e të urtëve përhapin dijen, por nuk vepron kështu zemra e budallenjve.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

8 S akrifica e të pabesëve është një neveri për Zotin, por lutja e njerëzve të drejtë i pëlqen atij.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

9 R ruga e të pabesit është një neveri për Zotin, por ai do atë që ndjek drejtësinë.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

10 N jë qortim i rëndë pret atë që braktis rrugën e drejtë, ai që urren kritikën ka për të vdekur.

There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; And he that hateth reproof shall die.

11 S heoli dhe Abadoni janë para Zotit; ca më tepër janë zemrat e bijve të njerëzve!

Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men!

12 T allësi nuk e do atë që e kritikon; ai nuk shkon tek të urtët.

A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.

13 N jë zemër e gëzuar e bën të lumtur fytyrën, por nga pikëllimi i zemrës fryma dërrmohet.

A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

14 Z emra e njeriut me mend kërkon dijen, por goja e budallenjve ushqehet me marrëzi.

The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.

15 T ë gjitha ditët e të varfërit janë të këqija, por për një zemër të kënaqur ka festë përherë.

All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.

16 M ë mirë pak me frikën e Zotit, se sa një thesar i madh me shqetësime.

Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

17 M ë mirë një pjatë me perime në të cilën ka dashuri se sa një ka i majmur në të cilin ka urrejtje.

Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

18 N jeriu gjaknxehtë nxit grindje, por ai që nuk zemërohet shpejt i qetëson grindjet.

A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

19 R ruga e përtacit është si një gardh ferrash, por shtegu i njerëzve të drejtë është i sheshtë.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.

20 B iri i urtë gëzon të atin, por njeriu budalla përçmon të ëmën.

A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21 M arrëzia është gëzim për atë që nuk ka mend, por njeriu që ka mend ecën drejt.

Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.

22 P lanet dështojnë ku nuk ka arsye, por realizohen atje ku ka një mori këshilltarësh.

Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

23 N jë njeri ndjen gëzim kur mund të jap një përgjigje dhe sa e mirë është fjala që thuhet në kohën e duhur!

A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!

24 N jeriun e matur rruga e jetës e çon lart në mënyrë që të evitojë Sheolin poshtë.

To the wise the way of life goeth upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.

25 Z oti do të shkatërrojë shtëpinë e krenarëve, por do t’i bëjë të qëndrueshëm kufijtë e gruas së ve.

Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.

26 M endimet e këqija janë të neveritshme për Zotin, por fjalët e ëmbla janë të pastra.

Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words are pure.

27 K ush lakmon fitime vë në rrezik shtëpinë e vet, por ai që i urren dhuratat ka për të jetuar.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.

28 Z emra e të drejtit mendon thellë se si duhet të përgjigjet, por goja e të pabesit vjell gjëra të këqija.

The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

29 Z oti u rri larg të pabesëve, por dëgjon lutjet e të drejtëve.

Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30 D rita e syve gëzon zemrën, një lajm i mirë i fortëson kockat.

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; And good tidings make the bones fat.

31 V eshi që e dëgjon kritikën e jetës ka për të qëndruar bashkë me të urtët.

The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise.

32 K ush nuk pranon qortimin e përçmon vetë shpirtin e tij, por ai që dëgjon qortimin bëhet më i urtë.

He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.

33 F rika e Zotit është një mësim diturie, dhe përpara lavdisë vjen përulësia.

The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor goeth humility.
