1 V ino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 H ijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Jerusalén y habla contra los santuarios, profetiza contra la tierra de Israel,

Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel;

3 y di a la tierra de Israel: “Así dice el Señor: ‘He aquí, estoy contra ti; sacaré mi espada de la vaina y cortaré de ti al justo y al impío.

and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

4 ‘ Puesto que he de cortar de ti al justo y al impío, por tanto mi espada saldrá de la vaina contra toda carne desde el sur hasta el norte.

Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

5 ‘ Así sabrá toda carne que yo, el Señor, he sacado mi espada de la vaina. No volverá más a su vaina.’”

and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.

6 Y tú, hijo de hombre, gime con corazón quebrantado; con amargura gemirás a la vista de ellos.

Sigh therefore, thou son of man; with the breaking of thy loins and with bitterness shalt thou sigh before their eyes.

7 Y cuando te digan: “¿Por qué gimes?”, dirás: “Por la noticia que viene, todo corazón desfallecerá, toda mano se debilitará, todo espíritu se apagará y toda rodilla flaqueará. He aquí, viene y sucederá” —declara el Señor Dios.

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

8 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

9 H ijo de hombre, profetiza, y di: “Así dice el Señor.” Di: “Espada, espada afilada y también pulida.

Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished;

10 “ Para la matanza ha sido afilada, para brillar como el rayo ha sido pulida.” ¿Acaso hemos de alegrarnos, cuando el cetro de mi hijo desprecia toda vara ?

it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree.

11 E s dada para que sea pulida, para que sea empuñada; ha sido afilada la espada, ha sido pulida, para ponerla en manos del matador.

And it is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yea, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.

12 C lama y gime, hijo de hombre, porque ella está contra mi pueblo, está contra todos los príncipes de Israel; ellos son entregados a la espada junto con mi pueblo; por tanto, golpéa te el muslo.

Cry and wail, son of man; for it is upon my people, it is upon all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; smite therefore upon thy thigh.

13 P orque la prueba está hecha; ¿y qué si el cetro mismo que desprecia la espada deja de existir? —declara el Señor Dios.

For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that contemneth shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah.

14 T ú, pues, hijo de hombre, profetiza y bate palmas; sea la espada duplicada y triplicada, la espada para los muertos. Es la espada de la gran víctima, que los tiene rodeados,

Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one that is deadly wounded, which entereth into their chambers.

15 p ara que sus corazones se acobarden y caigan muchos. En todas sus puertas he puesto la espada reluciente. ¡Ah!, hecha para centellear, pulida para la matanza.

I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

16 M uéstrate afilada, ve a la derecha; prepárate, ve a la izquierda, adondequiera que tu filo sea dirigido.

Gather thee together, go to the right, set thyself in array, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is set.

17 T ambién yo batiré palmas, y aplacaré mi furor. Yo, el Señor, he hablado.

I will also smite my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

18 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:

The word of Jehovah came unto me again, saying,

19 Y tú, hijo de hombre, traza dos caminos por donde venga la espada del rey de Babilonia; ambos saldrán de una misma tierra. Haz una señal y ponla al comienzo del camino a la ciudad.

Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they twain shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

20 T razarás el camino por donde venga la espada hacia Rabá de los hijos de Amón, y hacia Judá, que en Jerusalén tiene su fortaleza.

Thou shalt appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

21 P orque el rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en la bifurcación del camino, al comienzo de los dos caminos, para emplear la adivinación; sacude las saetas, consulta con los ídolos domésticos, observa el hígado.

For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows to and fro, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver.

22 E n su mano derecha vino el vaticinio: Jerusalén. ¡A colocar arietes, a llamar a la matanza, a alzar la voz en grito de guerra, a poner arietes contra las puertas, a levantar terraplenes, a edificar muro de asedio!

In his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts.

23 P ero fue para los judíos como vaticinio falso a sus ojos, pues habían hecho juramentos solemnes. Pero él les hará recordar su iniquidad y serán apresados.

And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths unto them; but he bringeth iniquity to remembrance, that they may be taken.

24 P or tanto, así dice el Señor Dios: “Por cuanto habéis hecho que vuestra iniquidad sea recordada poniendo al descubierto vuestras transgresiones, de modo que se manifiestan vuestros pecados en todas vuestras obras, por cuanto habéis sido recordados, seréis apresados por su mano.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

25 “ Y tú, infame y malvado príncipe de Israel, cuyo día ha llegado, la hora del castigo final ”,

And thou, O deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day is come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

26 a sí dice el Señor Dios: “Quítate la tiara y depón la corona; esto cambiará; lo humilde será ensalzado y lo ensalzado será humillado.

thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre, and take off the crown; this shall be no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

27 “ A ruina, a ruina, a ruina lo reduciré; tampoco esto sucederá hasta que venga aquel a quien pertenece el derecho, y a quien yo se lo daré.”

I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

28 Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza y di: “Así dice el Señor Dios acerca de los hijos de Amón y de su oprobio ”. Dirás: “La espada, la espada está desenvainada, para la matanza está pulida, para hacer exterminio, para centellear

And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

29 ( mientras ellos ven para ti visiones falsas, mientras adivinan para ti mentiras ), para ponerla sobre los cuellos de los infames malvados cuyo día ha llegado en la hora del castigo final.

while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

30 “ Vuélve la a su vaina. En el lugar donde fuiste creada, en tu tierra de origen, te juzgaré.

Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth, will I judge thee.

31 “ Y derramaré sobre ti mi indignación, soplaré sobre ti el fuego de mi furor y te entregaré en mano de hombres brutales, expertos en destrucción.

And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.

32 “ Serás pasto del fuego, tu sangre quedará en medio de la tierra; no quedará memoria de ti, porque yo, el Señor, he hablado.”

Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
