1 A sí dice el Señor: Por tres transgresiones de Moab, y por cuatro, no revocaré su castigo, porque quemó los huesos del rey de Edom hasta calcinarlos.

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

2 E nviaré, pues, fuego sobre Moab, que consumirá los palacios de Queriot, y Moab morirá entre el tumulto, entre gritos de guerra y sonido de trompeta.

but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;

3 T ambién extirparé al juez de en medio de ella, y mataré a todos sus príncipes con él —dice el Señor. Juicio contra Judá e Israel

and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah.

4 A sí dice el Señor: Por tres transgresiones de Judá, y por cuatro, no revocaré su castigo, porque desecharon la ley del Señor y no guardaron sus estatutos; también les han hecho errar sus mentiras, tras las cuales anduvieron sus padres.

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk:

5 E nviaré, pues, fuego sobre Judá, y consumirá los palacios de Jerusalén.

but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

6 A sí dice el Señor: Por tres transgresiones de Israel, y por cuatro, no revocaré su castigo, porque venden al justo por dinero y al necesitado por un par de sandalias.

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes-

7 L os que pisotean en el polvo de la tierra la cabeza de los desvalidos, también tuercen el camino de los humildes. Un hombre y su padre se llegan a la misma joven profanando mi santo nombre;

they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the same maiden, to profane my holy name:

8 s obre ropas empeñadas se tienden junto a cualquier altar, y el vino de los que han sido multados beben en la casa de su Dios.

and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.

9 Y o destruí al amorreo delante de ellos, cuya altura era como la altura de los cedros, y era fuerte como las encinas; yo destruí su fruto por arriba y su raíz por abajo.

Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

10 Y a vosotros yo os hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, y os conduje por el desierto cuarenta años para que tomarais posesión de la tierra del amorreo.

Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

11 Y levanté profetas de entre vuestros hijos y nazareos de entre vuestros jóvenes. ¿No es así, hijos de Israel? —declara el Señor.

And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah.

12 P ero vosotros hicisteis beber vino a los nazareos, y a los profetas les ordenasteis, diciendo: No profeticéis.

But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

13 H e aquí, yo estoy oprimido debajo de vosotros como está oprimida una carreta llena de gavillas.

Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves.

14 Y la huida le fallará al ligero, y el fuerte no fortalecerá su poder, ni el valiente salvará su vida.

And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;

15 E l que empuña el arco no resistirá, el ligero de pies no escapará, ni el que monta a caballo salvará su vida.

neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself;

16 Y aun el más intrépido entre los valientes huirá desnudo aquel día —declara el Señor.

and he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith Jehovah.
