1 E ntonces habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

2 T oma venganza completa sobre los madianitas por los hijos de Israel; después serás reunido a tu pueblo.

Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

3 Y habló Moisés al pueblo, diciendo: Armad a algunos hombres de entre vosotros para la guerra, a fin de que suban contra Madián para ejecutar la venganza del Señor en Madián.

And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Jehovah's vengeance on Midian.

4 E nviaréis a la guerra mil de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel.

Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

5 E ntonces se prepararon de entre los miles de Israel, mil de cada tribu, doce mil hombres armados para la guerra.

So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

6 Y Moisés los envió a la guerra, mil de cada tribu, y a Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a la guerra con ellos, con los vasos sagrados y las trompetas en su mano para la alarma.

And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

7 E hicieron guerra contra Madián, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés, y mataron a todos los varones.

And they warred against Midian, as Jehovah commanded Moses; and they slew every male.

8 Y junto con sus muertos, mataron a los reyes de Madián: Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba, los cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam, hijo de Beor.

And they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

9 Y los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián y a sus pequeños; y saquearon todo su ganado, todos sus rebaños y todos sus bienes.

And the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.

10 D espués prendieron fuego a todas las ciudades donde habitaban y a todos sus campamentos.

And all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.

11 Y tomaron todo el despojo y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de animales.

And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast.

12 Y trajeron los cautivos, el botín y los despojos a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a la congregación de los hijos de Israel, al campamento en las llanuras de Moab que están junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.

13 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, y todos los jefes de la congregación salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.

And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

14 M oisés se enojó con los oficiales del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, que volvían del servicio en la guerra,

And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

15 y les dijo Moisés: ¿Habéis dejado con vida a todas las mujeres ?

And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

16 H e aquí, éstas fueron la causa de que los hijos de Israel, por el consejo de Balaam, fueran infieles al Señor en el asunto de Peor, por lo que hubo plaga entre la congregación del Señor.

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Jehovah.

17 A hora pues, matad a todo varón entre los niños, y matad a toda mujer que haya conocido varón acostándose con él.

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

18 P ero a todas las jóvenes que no hayan conocido varón acostándose con él, las dejaréis con vida para vosotros.

But all the women-children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

19 Y vosotros, acampad fuera del campamento por siete días; todo el que haya matado a una persona y todo el que haya tocado a un muerto, purificaos, vosotros y vuestros cautivos, al tercero y al séptimo día.

And encamp ye without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives.

20 Y purificaréis todo vestido, todo artículo de cuero y toda obra de pelo de cabra y todo objeto de madera.

And as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify yourselves.

21 E ntonces el sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que habían ido a la batalla: Este es el estatuto de la ley que el Señor ha ordenado a Moisés:

And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

22 s ólo el oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,

howbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23 t odo lo que resiste el fuego, pasaréis por el fuego y será limpio, pero será purificado con el agua para la impureza. Mas todo lo que no resiste el fuego lo pasaréis por agua.

everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water.

24 Y en el séptimo día lavaréis vuestra ropa y seréis limpios; después podréis entrar al campamento.

And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

25 E ntonces habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

26 C uenta el botín que fue tomado tanto de hombres como de animales; tú con el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de las casas paternas de la congregación,

Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation;

27 y divide en mitades el botín entre los guerreros que salieron a la batalla y toda la congregación.

and divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation.

28 Y toma un tributo para el Señor de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la batalla, uno por cada quinientos, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas;

And levy a tribute unto Jehovah of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the flocks:

29 t ómalo de la mitad de ellos, y dáselo al sacerdote Eleazar, como ofrenda al Señor.

take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for Jehovah's heave-offering.

30 Y de la mitad de los hijos de Israel tomarás uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas, de cualquier animal, y los darás a los levitas que guardan el tabernáculo del Señor.

And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.

31 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

32 Y el botín que quedó del despojo que los hombres de guerra habían tomado fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco mil ovejas,

Now the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,

33 s etenta y dos mil cabezas de ganado,

and threescore and twelve thousand oxen,

34 y sesenta y un mil asnos;

and threescore and one thousand asses,

35 y de los seres humanos, de las mujeres que no habían conocido varón acostándose con él, fueron en total treinta y dos mil.

and thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him.

36 Y la mitad, la porción para los que salieron a la guerra, fue de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas en número;

And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep:

37 e l tributo al Señor fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco ovejas;

and Jehovah's tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.

38 y las cabezas de ganado, treinta y seis mil, de las cuales el tributo al Señor fue de setenta y dos;

And the oxen were thirty and six thousand; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and twelve.

39 y los asnos, treinta mil quinientos, de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de sesenta y uno.

And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and one.

40 Y los seres humanos, dieciséis mil, de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de treinta y dos personas.

And the persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Jehovah's tribute was thirty and two persons.

41 Y Moisés dio el tributo, que era la ofrenda del Señor, al sacerdote Eleazar, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

And Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah's heave-offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

42 E n cuanto a la mitad para los hijos de Israel, que Moisés había apartado de los hombres que habían ido a la guerra,

And of the children of Israel's half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred,

43 l a mitad del botín de la congregación fue de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,

(now the congregation's half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred sheep,

44 t reinta y seis mil cabezas de ganado,

and thirty and six thousand oxen,

45 t reinta mil quinientos asnos,

and thirty thousand and five hundred asses,

46 y dieciséis mil seres humanos.

and sixteen thousand persons),

47 Y de la mitad del botín de los hijos de Israel, Moisés tomó uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de hombres como de animales, y se los dio a los levitas, los cuales estaban encargados del tabernáculo del Señor, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

even of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

48 E ntonces los oficiales que estaban sobre los miles del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, se acercaron a Moisés;

And the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses;

49 y dijeron a Moisés: Tus siervos han levantado un censo de los hombres de guerra que están a nuestro cargo, y ninguno de nosotros falta.

and they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

50 P or tanto, hemos traído al Señor, como ofrenda, lo que cada hombre ha hallado: objetos de oro, pulseras, brazaletes, anillos, pendientes y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros ante el Señor.

And we have brought Jehovah's oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

51 Y Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y toda clase de objetos labrados.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

52 Y el total del oro de la ofrenda que ellos ofrecieron al Señor, de los capitanes de miles y de los capitanes de cientos, fue de dieciséis mil setecientos cincuenta siclos.

And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

53 L os hombres de guerra habían tomado botín, cada hombre algo para sí mismo.

(For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.)

54 M oisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los capitanes de miles y de cientos, y lo llevaron a la tienda de reunión como memorial para los hijos de Israel delante del Señor.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.
