1 E n aquellos días, cuando de nuevo había una gran multitud que no tenía qué comer, Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo:

In those days, when there was again a great multitude, and they had nothing to eat, he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them,

2 T engo compasión de la multitud porque hace ya tres días que están conmigo y no tienen qué comer;

I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat:

3 y si los despido sin comer a sus casas, desfallecerán en el camino, pues algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.

and if I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way; and some of them are come from far.

4 S us discípulos le respondieron: ¿Dónde podrá alguien encontrar lo suficiente para saciar de pan a éstos aquí en el desierto?

And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to fill these men with bread here in a desert place?

5 Y El les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos respondieron: Siete.

And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 E ntonces mandó a la multitud que se recostara en el suelo; y tomando los siete panes, después de dar gracias, los partió y los iba dando a sus discípulos para que los pusieran delante de la gente; y ellos los sirvieron a la multitud.

And he commandeth the multitude to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples, to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.

7 T ambién tenían unos pocos pececillos; y después de bendecirlos, mandó que éstos también los sirvieran.

And they had a few small fishes: and having blessed them, he commanded to set these also before them.

8 T odos comieron y se saciaron; y recogieron de lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete canastas.

And they ate, and were filled: and they took up, of broken pieces that remained over, seven baskets.

9 L os que comieron eran unos cuatro mil; y los despidió.

And they were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

10 Y subiendo enseguida a la barca con sus discípulos, fue a la región de Dalmanuta. Los fariseos buscan señal

And straightway he entered into the boat with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

11 E ntonces salieron los fariseos y comenzaron a discutir con El, buscando de El una señal del cielo para ponerle a prueba.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, trying him.

12 S uspirando profundamente en su espíritu, dijo: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? En verdad os digo que no se le dará señal a esta generación.

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 Y dejándolos, se embarcó otra vez y se fue al otro lado. La levadura de los fariseos

And he left them, and again entering into the boat departed to the other side.

14 Y se habían olvidado de tomar panes; y no tenían consigo en la barca sino sólo un pan.

And they forgot to take bread; and they had not in the boat with them more than one loaf.

15 Y El les encargaba diciendo: ¡Tened cuidado! Guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y de la levadura de Herodes.

And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

16 Y ellos discutían entre sí que no tenían panes.

And they reasoned one with another, saying, We have no bread.

17 D ándose cuenta Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué discutís que no tenéis pan? ¿Aún no comprendéis ni entendéis? ¿Tenéis el corazón endurecido ?

And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart hardened?

18 T eniendo ojos, ¿no veis ? Y teniendo oidos, ¿no ois ? ¿No recordáis

Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 c uando partí los cinco panes entre los cinco mil ? ¿Cuántas cestas llenas de pedazos recogisteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Doce.

When I brake the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 Y cuando partí los siete panes entre los cuatro mil, ¿cuántas canastas llenas de los pedazos recogisteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Siete.

And when the seven among the four thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces took ye up? And they say unto him, Seven.

21 Y les dijo: ¿Aún no entendéis ? El ciego de Betsaida

And he said unto them, Do ye not yet understand?

22 L legaron a Betsaida, y le trajeron un ciego y le rogaron que lo tocara.

And they come unto Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech him to touch him.

23 T omando de la mano al ciego, lo sacó fuera de la aldea; y después de escupir en sus ojos y de poner las manos sobre él, le preguntó: ¿Ves algo?

And he took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village; and when he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands upon him, he asked him, Seest thou aught?

24 Y levantando la vista, dijo: Veo a los hombres, pero los veo como árboles que caminan.

And he looked up, and said, I see men; for I behold them as trees, walking.

25 E ntonces Jesús puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y él miró fijamente y fue restaurado; y lo veía todo con claridad.

Then again he laid his hands upon his eyes; and he looked stedfastly, and was restored, and saw all things clearly.

26 Y lo envió a su casa diciendo: Ni aun en la aldea entres. La confesión de Pedro

And he sent him away to his home, saying, Do not even enter into the village.

27 S alió Jesús con sus discípulos a las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo; y en el camino preguntó a sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?

And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

28 Y le respondieron, diciendo: Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; pero otros, uno de los profetas.

And they told him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others, One of the prophets.

29 E l les preguntó de nuevo: Pero vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Tú eres el Cristo.

And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 Y El les advirtió severamente que no hablaran de El a nadie. Jesús anuncia su muerte y resurrección

And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 Y comenzó a enseñarles que el Hijo del Hombre debía padecer muchas cosas, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y después de tres días resucitar.

And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32 Y les decía estas palabras claramente. Y Pedro le llevó aparte y comenzó a reprenderle.

And he spake the saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33 M as El volviéndose y mirando a sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro y le dijo: ¡Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás!, porque no tienes en mente las cosas de Dios, sino las de los hombres. Condiciones para seguir a Jesús

But he turning about, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.

34 Y llamando a la multitud y a sus discípulos, les dijo: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz, y sígame.

And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 P orque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por causa de mí y del evangelio, la salvará.

For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.

36 P ues, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre ganar el mundo entero y perder su alma?

For what doth it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?

37 P ues ¿qué dará un hombre a cambio de su alma?

For what should a man give in exchange for his life?

38 P orque cualquiera que se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adúltera y pecadora, el Hijo del Hombre también se avergonzará de él, cuando venga en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
