1 E ntonces el Señor visitó a Sara como había dicho, e hizo el Señor por Sara como había prometido.

And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

2 Y Sara concibió y dio a luz un hijo a Abraham en su vejez, en el tiempo señalado que Dios le había dicho.

And Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3 Y Abraham le puso el nombre de Isaac al hijo que le nació, que le dio a luz Sara.

And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

4 Y circuncidó Abraham a su hijo Isaac a los ocho días, como Dios le había mandado.

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

5 A braham tenía cien años cuando le nació su hijo Isaac.

And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

6 Y dijo Sara: Dios me ha hecho reír; cualquiera que lo oiga se reirá conmigo.

And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh. Every one that heareth will laugh with me.

7 Y añadió: ¿Quién le hubiera dicho a Abraham que Sara amamantaría hijos? Pues bien, le he dado a luz un hijo en su vejez. Agar e Ismael expulsados

And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should give children suck? For I have borne him a son in his old age.

8 Y el niño creció y fue destetado, y Abraham hizo un gran banquete el día que Isaac fue destetado.

And the child grew, and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

9 Y Sara vio al hijo que Agar la egipcia le había dado a luz a Abraham burlándose de su hijo Isaac,

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne unto Abraham, mocking.

10 y dijo a Abraham: Echa fuera a esta sierva y a su hijo, porque el hijo de esta sierva no ha de ser heredero juntamente con mi hijo Isaac.

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son. For the son of this handmaid shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

11 Y el asunto angustió a Abraham en gran manera por tratarse de su hijo.

And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight on account of his son.

12 M as Dios dijo a Abraham: No te angusties por el muchacho ni por tu sierva; presta atención a todo lo que Sara te diga, porque por Isaac será llamada tu descendencia.

And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy handmaid. In all that Sarah saith unto thee, hearken unto her voice. For in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

13 Y también del hijo de la sierva haré una nación, por ser tu descendiente.

And also of the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

14 S e levantó, pues, Abraham muy de mañana, tomó pan y un odre de agua y los dio a Agar poniéndo selos sobre el hombro, y le dio el muchacho y la despidió. Y ella se fue y anduvo errante por el desierto de Beerseba.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

15 Y el agua en el odre se acabó, y ella dejó al muchacho debajo de uno de los arbustos,

And the water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16 y ella fue y se sentó enfrente, como a un tiro de arco de distancia, porque dijo: Que no vea yo morir al niño. Y se sentó enfrente y alzó su voz y lloró.

And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot. For she said, Let me not look upon the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

17 Y oyó Dios la voz del muchacho que lloraba; y el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo, y le dijo: ¿Qué tienes, Agar? No temas, porque Dios ha oído la voz del muchacho en donde está.

And God heard the voice of the lad. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not. For God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 L evántate, alza al muchacho y sostenlo con tu mano; porque yo haré de él una gran nación.

Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thy hand. For I will make him a great nation.

19 E ntonces Dios abrió los ojos de ella, y vio un pozo de agua; y fue y llenó el odre de agua y dio de beber al muchacho.

And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

20 Y Dios estaba con el muchacho, que creció y habitó en el desierto y se hizo arquero.

And God was with the lad, and he grew. And he dwelt in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.

21 Y habitó en el desierto de Parán, y su madre tomó para él una mujer de la tierra de Egipto. Pacto entre Abraham y Abimelec

And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran. And his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

22 A conteció por aquel tiempo que Abimelec, con Ficol, comandante de su ejército, habló a Abraham, diciendo: Dios está contigo en todo lo que haces;

And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest.

23 a hora pues, júrame aquí por Dios que no obrarás falsamente conmigo, ni con mi descendencia, ni con mi posteridad, sino que conforme a la bondad que te he mostrado, así me mostrarás a mí y a la tierra en la cual has residido.

Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son. But according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

24 Y Abraham dijo: Yo lo juro.

And Abraham said, I will swear.

25 P ero Abraham se quejó a Abimelec a causa de un pozo de agua del cual los siervos de Abimelec se habían apoderado.

And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.

26 Y Abimelec dijo: No sé quién haya hecho esto, ni tú me lo habías hecho saber, ni yo lo había oído hasta hoy.

And Abimelech said, I know not who hath done this thing. Neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to-day.

27 Y Abraham tomó ovejas y vacas y se los dio a Abimelec. Y los dos hicieron un pacto.

And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech. And they two made a covenant.

28 E ntonces Abraham puso aparte siete corderas del rebaño.

And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 Y Abimelec dijo a Abraham: ¿Qué significan estas siete corderas que has puesto aparte?

And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?

30 Y él respondió: Tomarás estas siete corderas de mi mano para que esto me sirva de testimonio de que yo cavé este pozo.

And he said, These seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that it may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.

31 P or lo cual llamó aquel lugar Beerseba, porque allí juraron los dos.

Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba. Because there they sware both of them.

32 H icieron, pues, un pacto en Beerseba; y se levantó Abimelec con Ficol, comandante de su ejército, y regresaron a la tierra de los filisteos.

So they made a covenant at Beer-sheba. And Abimelech rose up, and Phicol the captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 Y Abraham plantó un tamarisco en Beerseba, y allí invocó el nombre del Señor, el Dios eterno.

And Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of Jehovah, the Everlasting God.

34 Y peregrinó Abraham en la tierra de los filisteos por muchos días.

And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
