1 V osotros sois hijos del Señor vuestro Dios; no os sajaréis ni os rasuraréis la frente a causa de un muerto.

Ye are the children of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

2 P orque eres pueblo santo para el Señor tu Dios; y el Señor te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo de su exclusiva posesión de entre los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra.

For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and Jehovah hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

3 N o comerás nada abominable.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

4 E stos son los animales que podréis comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,

These are the beasts which ye may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

5 e l ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés.

the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois.

6 Y cualquier animal de pezuña dividida que tenga la pezuña hendida en dos mitades y que rumie, lo podréis comer.

And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.

7 P ero éstos no comeréis de entre los que rumian o de entre los que tienen la pezuña dividida en dos: el camello, el conejo y el damán; pues aunque rumian, no tienen la pezuña dividida; para vosotros serán inmundos.

Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney; because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you.

8 Y el cerdo, aunque tiene la pezuña dividida, no rumia; será inmundo para vosotros. No comeréis de su carne ni tocaréis sus cadáveres.

And the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch.

9 D e todo lo que vive en el agua, éstos podréis comer: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas,

These ye may eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales may ye eat;

10 p ero no comeréis nada que no tenga aletas ni escamas; será inmundo para vosotros.

and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.

11 T oda ave limpia podréis comer.

Of all clean birds ye may eat.

12 P ero éstas no comeréis: el águila, el buitre y el buitre negro;

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,

13 e l azor, el halcón y el milano según su especie;

and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind,

14 t odo cuervo según su especie;

and every raven after its kind,

15 e l avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según su especie;

and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kind,

16 e l búho, el búho real, la lechuza blanca,

the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl,

17 e l pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo,

and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant,

18 l a cigüeña y la garza según su especie; la abubilla y el murciélago.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

19 T odo insecto alado será inmundo para vosotros; no se comerá.

And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

20 T oda ave limpia podréis comer.

Of all clean birds ye may eat.

21 N o comeréis ningún animal que se muera. Lo podrás dar al forastero que está en tus ciudades, para que lo coma, o lo podrás vender a un extranjero, porque tú eres un pueblo santo al Señor tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre. Leyes acerca del diezmo

Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the sojourner that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 D iezmarás fielmente todo el producto de tu sementera, lo que rinde tu campo cada año.

Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth from the field year by year.

23 Y comerás en la presencia del Señor tu Dios, en el lugar que El escoja para poner allí su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu mosto y de tu aceite, y los primogénitos de tus vacas y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer siempre al Señor tu Dios.

And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy grain, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God always.

24 M as si el camino es tan largo para ti, que seas incapaz de llevar el diezmo por estar lejos el lugar donde el Señor tu Dios escoja para poner allí su nombre, cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya bendecido,

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God shall bless thee;

25 e ntonces lo cambiarás por dinero, y atarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoja.

then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose:

26 Y podrás gastar el dinero en todo lo que tu corazón apetezca: en vacas u ovejas, en vino o sidra, o en cualquier otra cosa que tu corazón desee; allí comerás en presencia del Señor tu Dios, y te alegrarás tú y tu casa.

and thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thy household.

27 T ampoco desampararás al levita que habite en tus ciudades, porque él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.

And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

28 A l fin de cada tercer año, sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año y lo depositarás en tus ciudades.

At the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

29 Y vendrá el levita, que no tiene parte ni herencia contigo, y el forastero, el huérfano y la viuda que habitan en tus ciudades, y comerán y se saciarán, para que el Señor tu Dios te bendiga en toda obra que tu mano haga.

and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
