1 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 « Hijo de hombre, fija ahora tu mirada en Jerusalén, y profetiza contra los santuarios y contra la tierra de Israel.

Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel;

3 D ile a la tierra de Israel que yo, el Señor, estoy contra ella, y que voy a desenvainar mi espada para acabar con los justos y los injustos.

and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

4 S í, voy a limpiar a Israel de justos e injustos. Voy a descargar mi espada contra todo el mundo, de norte a sur.

Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

5 T odos sabrán que yo, el Señor, he desenvainado mi espada, y que no volveré a envainarla.

and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.

6 » Tú, hijo de hombre, ¡ponte a llorar con todas tus fuerzas! ¡Gime amargamente a la vista de todos ellos!

Sigh therefore, thou son of man; with the breaking of thy loins and with bitterness shalt thou sigh before their eyes.

7 Y cuando te pregunten por qué lloras, diles que es por la noticia de lo que está por suceder. Cuando se sepa la noticia, todo corazón desfallecerá y toda mano se debilitará; todo ánimo se angustiará y toda rodilla temblará. Viene como un torrente, y es inevitable.» Palabra de Dios el Señor.

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

8 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

9 « Hijo de hombre, profetiza y diles que así ha dicho su Dios y Señor: »La espada está afilada y pulida.

Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished;

10 A filada para degollar a sus víctimas; pulida para brillar en cada golpe. ¿Y esto es motivo de alegría? El cetro de mi hijo es despreciado, como si fuera un palo cualquiera.

it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree.

11 S í, la espada está afilada; se afiló para tenerla a la mano. Sí, la espada está pulida; se pulió para entregársela al verdugo.

And it is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yea, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.

12 ¡ Grita y llora, hijo de hombre! Mi espada va a caer sobre mi pueblo y sobre todos los príncipes de Israel. ¡Todos ellos caerán bajo su filo! ¡Hiérete con ella en el muslo,

Cry and wail, son of man; for it is upon my people, it is upon all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; smite therefore upon thy thigh.

13 q ue ésta es un prueba muy dura! No importa que la espada desprecie al cetro, porque la espada dejará de existir. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that contemneth shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah.

14 » Tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza, y bate palmas una y otra vez. ¡Que hiera la espada asesina dos y hasta tres veces! ¡Ésta es la espada asesina que acabará con todos,

Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one that is deadly wounded, which entereth into their chambers.

15 p ara que el corazón desmaye y los estragos se multipliquen! ¡En todas las puertas de sus ciudades he puesto el horror de la espada! ¡Dispuesta está para brillar! ¡Dispuesta está para degollar!

I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

16 ¡ Da tajos a la derecha, da tajos a la izquierda, da tajos por todas partes!

Gather thee together, go to the right, set thyself in array, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is set.

17 Y yo también batiré palmas, y así apaciguaré mi enojo. Yo, el Señor, he hablado.»

I will also smite my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

18 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

The word of Jehovah came unto me again, saying,

19 « Tú, hijo de hombre, traza dos caminos para que por ellos venga el rey de Babilonia con su espada. Los dos caminos partirán del mismo país, pero al comienzo de cada uno de ellos deberás poner una señal que indique la ciudad a la que lleva.

Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they twain shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

20 I ndícale a la espada el camino que lleva a Rabá de los amonitas, y a Jerusalén, la ciudad fortificada de Judá.

Thou shalt appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

21 E l rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en la encrucijada, donde se abren los dos caminos, y allí recurre a la adivinación: sacude las flechas, consulta a sus ídolos, examina el hígado.

For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows to and fro, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver.

22 L a adivinación señaló hacia la derecha, hacia Jerusalén, para dar la orden de ataque y comenzar la matanza, para lanzar el grito de guerra y poner arietes contra las puertas, para levantar vallas y torres de sitio.

In his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts.

23 L os habitantes de la ciudad verán esto como una adivinación falsa, ya que el rey les ha hecho solemnes juramentos, pero éste se acordará de la maldad de ellos y los capturará.»

And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths unto them; but he bringeth iniquity to remembrance, that they may be taken.

24 P or lo tanto, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «Ustedes han hecho que se recuerde la maldad que han cometido. Sus traiciones y pecados han quedado al descubierto. Por eso, por haber traído esto a la memoria, caerán en las manos del rey.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

25 » Y a ti, profano e impío príncipe de Israel, te ha llegado el día. Tu maldad ha llegado al colmo.

And thou, O deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day is come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

26 E l Señor tu Dios te dice: “Quítate la tiara, ¡quítate la corona, que esto no puede seguir así!” Lo bajo será exaltado, y lo alto será humillado.

thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre, and take off the crown; this shall be no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

27 T odo esto lo dejaré en ruinas, y dejará de existir, hasta que venga aquel a quien entregaré el derecho de dictar sentencia. Juicio contra los amonitas

I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

28 » Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza contra los amonitas y diles de mi parte acerca de sus ofensas: “Así ha dicho Dios el Señor: La espada ya está desenvainada y lista para degollar; la espada está pulida y resplandece para masacrar.

And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

29 T us profetas te anuncian falsedades y te mienten con sus adivinaciones. Pero esos malvados ya han sido sentenciados a muerte. Tú descargarás la espada sobre su cuello, porque ha llegado la hora de poner fin a su maldad.

while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

30 ¿ Volveré a envainar la espada? ¡Allí, donde te criaste; allí, donde has vivido, dictaré sentencia contra ti!

Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth, will I judge thee.

31 V oy a derramar mi enojo sobre ti, y el fuego de mi enojo te consumirá. ¡Voy a entregarte en manos de gente sanguinaria y experta en la destrucción.

And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.

32 E l fuego te devorará, la tierra se empapará con tu sangre, y nadie volverá a recordarte.” Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.»

Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
