1 Y estos son los que vinieron a David en Siclag, mientras aún se ocultaba por causa de Saúl, hijo de Cis. Eran de los hombres valientes que le ayudaron en la guerra.

Now these are those who came to David to Ziklag, while he was a fugitive from Saul the son of Kish. They were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.

2 E staban armados con arcos, y usaban tanto la mano derecha como la izquierda para lanzar piedras y tirar flechas con el arco. Eran parientes de Saúl de Benjamín.

They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow. They were of Saul’s relatives of the tribe of Benjamin.

3 E l jefe era Ahiezer, después Joás, hijos de Semaa guibeatita; Jeziel y Pelet, hijos de Azmavet; Beraca y Jehú anatotita;

The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah; Jehu the Anathothite;

4 I smaías gabaonita, hombre valiente entre los treinta, y jefe de los treinta. Después Jeremías, Jahaziel, Johanán, Jozabad gederatita,

Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty and a leader of the thirty; Jeremiah; Jahaziel; Johanan; Jozabad the Gederathite;

5 E luzai, Jerimot, Bealías, Semarías, Sefatías harufita,

Eluzai; Jerimoth; Bealiah; Shemariah; Shephatiah the Haruphite;

6 E lcana, Isías, Azareel, Joezer, Jasobeam, coreítas,

Elkanah, Isshiah Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korahites;

7 y Joela y Zebadías, hijos de Jeroham de Gedor.

and Joelah and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

8 T ambién de los de Gad se pasaron a David en la fortaleza en el desierto, hombres fuertes y valientes, entrenados para la guerra, diestros con el escudo y la lanza, cuyos rostros eran como rostros de leones, y eran tan ligeros como las gacelas sobre los montes.

Some Gadites joined David in the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear; whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the gazelles on the mountains:

9 E zer fue el primero, Obadías el segundo, Eliab el tercero,

Ezer the chief, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,

10 M ismana el cuarto, Jeremías el quinto,

Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,

11 A tai el sexto, Eliel el séptimo,

Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,

12 J ohanán el octavo, Elzabad el noveno,

Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 J eremías el décimo, Macbanai el undécimo.

Jeremiah the tenth, and Machbannai the eleventh.

14 D e los hijos de Gad, éstos fueron capitanes del ejército; el menor valía por cien y el mayor por mil.

These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army: he who was least was equal to one hundred, and the greatest to one thousand.

15 E stos son los que cruzaron el Jordán en el primer mes, cuando inundaba todas sus riberas, y pusieron en fuga a todos los de los valles, tanto al oriente como al occidente.

These are those who went over the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all who lived in the valleys, both toward the east and toward the west.

16 E ntonces vinieron algunos de los hijos de Benjamín y Judá a David a la fortaleza.

Some of the children of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.

17 Y salió David a su encuentro, y les habló, diciendo: Si venís a mí en paz para ayudarme, mi corazón se unirá con vosotros; pero si venís para entregarme a mis enemigos, ya que no hay maldad en mis manos, que el Dios de nuestros padres lo vea y decida.

David went out to meet them, and answered them, “If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers see this and rebuke it.”

18 E ntonces el Espíritu vino sobre Amasai, jefe de los treinta, el cual dijo: Tuyos somos, oh David, y contigo estamos, hijo de Isaí. Paz, paz a ti, y paz al que te ayuda; ciertamente tu Dios te ayuda. Entonces David los recibió y los hizo capitanes del grupo.

Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse. Peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers; for your God helps you.” Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

19 A lgunos de Manasés se pasaron también a David, cuando éste iba con los filisteos a la batalla contra Saúl. Pero éstos no les ayudaron, porque los príncipes de los filisteos, después de tomar consejo, lo despidieron, diciendo: A costa de nuestras cabezas se pasará a su señor Saúl.

Some of Manasseh also joined David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle; but they didn’t help them; for the lords of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, “He will desert to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.”

20 Y cuando él iba a Siclag, se pasaron a él de Manasés: Adnas, Jozabad, Jediaiel, Micael, Jozabad, Eliú y Ziletai, capitanes de miles que eran de Manasés.

As he went to Ziklag, some from Manasseh joined him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands who were of Manasseh.

21 E llos ayudaron a David contra la banda de merodeadores, pues todos eran hombres fuertes y valientes, y fueron capitanes en el ejército.

They helped David against the band of rovers; for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.

22 P orque día tras día se pasaban hombres a David para ayudarlo, hasta que hubo un gran ejército, como un ejército de Dios.

For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like God’s army.

23 Y estos son los números de los escuadrones equipados para la guerra, que vinieron a David en Hebrón para transferirle el reino de Saúl, conforme a la palabra del Señor:

These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to Yahweh’s word.

24 L os hijos de Judá que llevaban escudo y lanza eran seis mil ochocientos, equipados para la guerra.

The children of Judah who bore shield and spear were six thousand eight hundred, armed for war.

25 D e los hijos de Simeón, hombres fuertes y valientes para la guerra, siete mil cien.

Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand one hundred.

26 D e los hijos de Leví, cuatro mil seiscientos.

Of the children of Levi four thousand six hundred.

27 Y Joiada, príncipe de la casa de Aarón, y con él tres mil setecientos;

Jehoiada was the leader of the household of Aaron; and with him were three thousand seven hundred,

28 t ambién Sadoc, joven fuerte y valiente, y de la casa de su padre veintidós capitanes.

and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father’s house twenty-two captains.

29 D e los hijos de Benjamín, parientes de Saúl, tres mil; porque hasta entonces la mayor parte de ellos habían permanecido fieles a la casa de Saúl.

Of the children of Benjamin, Saul’s relatives, three thousand: for until then, the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to Saul’s house.

30 D e los hijos de Efraín, veinte mil ochocientos, hombres fuertes y valientes, famosos en sus casas paternas.

Of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers’ houses.

31 D e la media tribu de Manasés, dieciocho mil, que por nombre fueron designados para venir y hacer rey a David.

Of the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.

32 D e los hijos de Isacar, expertos en discernir los tiempos, con conocimiento de lo que Israel debía hacer, sus jefes eran doscientos; y todos sus parientes estaban bajo sus órdenes.

Of the children of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their heads were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their command.

33 D e Zabulón había cincuenta mil que salieron con el ejército, que podían ponerse en orden de batalla con toda clase de armas de guerra y que ayudaron a David sin doblez de corazón.

Of Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, with all kinds of instruments of war, fifty thousand, and who could command and were not of double heart.

34 D e Neftalí había mil capitanes, y con ellos treinta y siete mil con escudo y lanza.

Of Naphtali one thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty-seven thousand.

35 D e los de Dan que podían ponerse en orden de batalla, había veintiocho mil seiscientos.

Of the Danites who could set the battle in array, twenty-eight thousand six hundred.

36 D e Aser había cuarenta mil que salieron con el ejército para ponerse en orden de batalla.

Of Asher, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, forty thousand.

37 Y del otro lado del Jordán de los rubenitas y gaditas y de la media tribu de Manasés, había ciento veinte mil con toda clase de armas de guerra para la batalla.

On the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all kinds of instruments of war for the battle, one hundred twenty thousand.

38 T odos éstos, hombres de guerra, que podían ponerse en orden de batalla, vinieron con corazón perfecto a Hebrón, para hacer rey a David sobre todo Israel; también todos los demás de Israel eran de un mismo parecer para hacer rey a David.

All these were men of war, who could order the battle array, and came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

39 Y estuvieron allí con David tres días, comiendo y bebiendo, porque sus parientes habían hecho provisión para ellos.

They were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brothers had supplied provisions for them.

40 T ambién, los que estaban cerca de ellos, y hasta Isacar, Zabulón y Neftalí, trajeron víveres en asnos, camellos, mulos y bueyes; grandes cantidades de tortas de harina, tortas de higos y racimos de uvas pasas, vino, aceite, bueyes y ovejas. Verdaderamente había alegría en Israel.

Moreover those who were near to them, as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, on camels, on mules, and on oxen: supplies of flour, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, cattle, and sheep in abundance; for there was joy in Israel.
