1 B ut I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you with sorrow.

Pero en mí mismo decidí esto: no ir otra vez a vosotros con tristeza.

2 F or if I make you sorry, who then is he that maketh me glad but he that is made sorry by me?

Porque si yo os causo tristeza, ¿quién será el que me alegre sino aquel a quien entristecí?

3 A nd I wrote this very thing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

Y esto mismo os escribí, para que cuando yo llegue no tenga tristeza de parte de los que debieran alegrarme, confiando en todos vosotros de que mi gozo sea el mismo de todos vosotros.

4 F or out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be made sorry, but that ye might know the love that I have more abundantly unto you.

Pues por la mucha aflicción y angustia de corazón os escribí con muchas lágrimas, no para entristeceros, sino para que conozcáis el amor que tengo especialmente por vosotros.

5 B ut if any hath caused sorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not to me, but in part (that I press not too heavily) to you all.

Pero si alguno ha causado tristeza, no me la ha causado a mí, sino hasta cierto punto (para no exagerar ) a todos vosotros.

6 S ufficient to such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the many;

Es suficiente para tal persona este castigo que le fue impuesto por la mayoría;

7 s o that contrariwise ye should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.

así que, por el contrario, vosotros más bien deberíais perdonar lo y consolar lo, no sea que en alguna manera éste sea abrumado por tanta tristeza.

8 W herefore I beseech you to confirm your love toward him.

Por lo cual os ruego que reafirméis vuestro amor hacia él.

9 F or to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye are obedient in all things.

Pues también con este fin os escribí, para poneros a prueba y ver si sois obedientes en todo.

10 B ut to whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also: for what I also have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes have I forgiven it in the presence of Christ;

Pero a quien perdonéis algo, yo también lo perdono; porque en verdad, lo que yo he perdonado, si algo he perdonado, lo hice por vosotros en presencia de Cristo,

11 t hat no advantage may be gained over us by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

para que Satanás no tome ventaja sobre nosotros, pues no ignoramos sus ardides. De Troas a Macedonia

12 N ow when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and when a door was opened unto me in the Lord,

Cuando llegué a Troas para predicar el evangelio de Cristo, y se me abrió una puerta en el Señor,

13 I had no relief for my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went forth into Macedonia.

no tuve reposo en mi espíritu al no encontrar a Tito, mi hermano; despidiéndome, pues, de ellos, salí para Macedonia. Triunfantes en Cristo

14 B ut thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place.

Pero gracias a Dios, que en Cristo siempre nos lleva en triunfo, y que por medio de nosotros manifiesta en todo lugar la fragancia de su conocimiento.

15 F or we are a sweet savor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish;

Porque fragante aroma de Cristo somos para Dios entre los que se salvan y entre los que se pierden;

16 t o the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

para unos, olor de muerte para muerte, y para otros, olor de vida para vida. Y para estas cosas ¿quién está capacitado ?

17 F or we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.

Pues no somos como muchos, que comercian con la palabra de Dios, sino que con sinceridad, como de parte de Dios y delante de Dios hablamos en Cristo.
