1 T hen drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

Entonces las hijas de Zelofehad, hijo de Hefer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de Manasés, hijo de José, se acercaron; y estos eran los nombres de sus hijas: Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca y Tirsa.

2 A nd they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying,

Y se presentaron delante de Moisés, delante del sacerdote Eleazar, delante de los jefes y de toda la congregación, a la entrada de la tienda de reunión, diciendo:

3 O ur father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of them that gathered themselves together against Jehovah in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.

Nuestro padre murió en el desierto, aunque no estuvo entre el grupo de los que se juntaron contra el Señor, en el grupo de Coré, sino que murió por su pecado, y no tuvo hijos.

4 W hy should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father.

¿Por qué ha de desaparecer el nombre de nuestro padre de entre su familia sólo porque no tuvo hijo? Dadnos herencia entre los hermanos de nuestro padre.

5 A nd Moses brought their cause before Jehovah.

Y Moisés presentó su caso ante el Señor.

6 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés, diciendo:

7 T he daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

Las hijas de Zelofehad tienen razón en lo que dicen. Ciertamente les darás herencia entre los hermanos de su padre, y pasarás a ellas la herencia de su padre.

8 A nd thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

Además, hablarás a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: “Si un hombre muere y no tiene hijo, pasaréis su herencia a su hija.

9 A nd if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

“Y si no tiene hija, entonces daréis su herencia a sus hermanos.

10 A nd if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

“Y si no tiene hermanos, entonces daréis su herencia a los hermanos de su padre.

11 A nd if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute and ordinance, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

“Y si su padre no tiene hermanos, entonces daréis su herencia al pariente más cercano en su familia, y él la poseerá. Y será norma de derecho para los hijos de Israel, tal como el Señor ordenó a Moisés.” Josué ungido sucesor de Moisés

12 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mountain of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Sube a este monte Abarim, y mira la tierra que yo he dado a los hijos de Israel.

13 A nd when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered;

Y cuando la hayas visto, tú también te reunirás a tu pueblo, como se reunió tu hermano Aarón.

14 b ecause ye rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Porque cuando os rebelasteis contra mi mandamiento en el desierto de Zin durante la contienda de la congregación, debisteis santificarme en las aguas ante sus ojos. (Esas son las aguas de Meriba, de Cades, en el desierto de Zin.)

15 A nd Moses spake unto Jehovah, saying,

Entonces Moisés habló al Señor, diciendo:

16 L et Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

Ponga el Señor, Dios de los espíritus de toda carne, un hombre sobre la congregación,

17 w ho may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Jehovah be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

que salga y entre delante de ellos, y que los haga salir y entrar a fin de que la congregación del Señor no sea como ovejas que no tienen pastor.

18 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay thy hand upon him;

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Toma a Josué, hijo de Nun, hombre en quien está el Espíritu, y pon tu mano sobre él;

19 a nd set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

y haz que se ponga delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y delante de toda la congregación, e impártele autoridad a la vista de ellos.

20 A nd thou shalt put of thine honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

Y pondrás sobre él parte de tu dignidad a fin de que le obedezca toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel.

21 A nd he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

El se presentará delante del sacerdote Eleazar, quien inquirirá por él por medio del juicio del Urim delante del Señor. A su palabra saldrán y a su palabra entrarán, él y todos los hijos de Israel con él, es decir, toda la congregación.

22 A nd Moses did as Jehovah commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

Y Moisés hizo tal como el Señor le ordenó: tomó a Josué y lo puso delante del sacerdote Eleazar y delante de toda la congregación.

23 a nd he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Jehovah spake by Moses.

Luego puso sus manos sobre él y le impartió autoridad, tal como el Señor había hablado por medio de Moisés.
