1 N ow I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,

Ahora os hago saber, hermanos, el evangelio que os prediqué, el cual también recibisteis, en el cual también estáis firmes,

2 b y which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.

por el cual también sois salvos, si retenéis la palabra que os prediqué, a no ser que hayáis creído en vano.

3 F or I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

Porque yo os entregué en primer lugar lo mismo que recibí: que Cristo murió por nuestros pecados, conforme a las Escrituras;

4 a nd that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;

que fue sepultado y que resucitó al tercer día, conforme a las Escrituras;

5 a nd that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;

que se apareció a Cefas y después a los doce;

6 t hen he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;

luego se apareció a más de quinientos hermanos a la vez, la mayoría de los cuales viven aún, pero algunos ya duermen;

7 t hen he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;

después se apareció a Jacobo, luego a todos los apóstoles,

8 a nd last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also.

y al último de todos, como a uno nacido fuera de tiempo, se me apareció también a mí.

9 F or I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

Porque yo soy el más insignificante de los apóstoles, que no soy digno de ser llamado apóstol, pues perseguí a la iglesia de Dios.

10 B ut by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Pero por la gracia de Dios soy lo que soy, y su gracia para conmigo no resultó vana; antes bien he trabajado mucho más que todos ellos, aunque no yo, sino la gracia de Dios en mí.

11 W hether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Sin embargo, haya sido yo o ellos, así predicamos y así creísteis. Si Cristo no ha resucitado

12 N ow if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

Ahora bien, si se predica que Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos, ¿cómo dicen algunos entre vosotros que no hay resurrección de muertos ?

13 B ut if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:

Y si no hay resurrección de muertos, entonces ni siquiera Cristo ha resucitado;

14 a nd if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.

y si Cristo no ha resucitado, vana es entonces nuestra predicación, y vana también vuestra fe.

15 Y ea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.

Aún más, somos hallados testigos falsos de Dios, porque hemos testificado contra Dios que El resucitó a Cristo, a quien no resucitó, si en verdad los muertos no resucitan.

16 F or if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:

Pues si los muertos no resucitan, entonces ni siquiera Cristo ha resucitado;

17 a nd if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

y si Cristo no ha resucitado, vuestra fe es falsa; todavía estáis en vuestros pecados.

18 T hen they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

Entonces también los que han dormido en Cristo han perecido.

19 I f we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.

Si hemos esperado en Cristo para esta vida solamente, somos, de todos los hombres, los más dignos de lástima. Cristo, garantía de la resurrección

20 B ut now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.

Mas ahora Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos, primicias de los que durmieron.

21 F or since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

Porque ya que la muerte entró por un hombre, también por un hombre vino la resurrección de los muertos.

22 F or as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

Porque así como en Adán todos mueren, también en Cristo todos serán vivificados.

23 B ut each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ's, at his coming.

Pero cada uno en su debido orden: Cristo, las primicias; luego los que son de Cristo en su venida;

24 T hen cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.

entonces vendrá el fin, cuando El entregue el reino al Dios y Padre, después que haya abolido todo dominio y toda autoridad y poder.

25 F or he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.

Pues Cristo debe reinar hasta que haya puesto a todos sus enemigos debajo de sus pies.

26 T he last enemy that shall be abolished is death.

Y el último enemigo que será abolido es la muerte.

27 F or, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.

Porque Dios ha puesto todo en sujecion bajo sus pies. Pero cuando dice que todas las cosas le están sujetas, es evidente que se exceptúa a aquel que ha sometido a El todas las cosas.

28 A nd when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.

Y cuando todo haya sido sometido a El, entonces también el Hijo mismo se sujetará a aquel que sujetó a El todas las cosas, para que Dios sea todo en todos.

29 E lse what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?

De no ser así, ¿qué harán los que se bautizan por los muertos? Si de ninguna manera los muertos resucitan, ¿por qué, entonces, se bautizan por ellos?

30 W hy do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?

Y también, ¿por qué estamos en peligro a toda hora ?

31 I protest by that glorifying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Os aseguro, hermanos, por la satisfacción que siento por vosotros en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, que cada día estoy en peligro de muerte.

32 I f after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

Si por motivos humanos luché contra fieras en Efeso, ¿de qué me aprovecha? Si los muertos no resucitan, comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos.

33 B e not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.

No os dejéis engañar: “Las malas compañías corrompen las buenas costumbres.”

34 A wake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak this to move you to shame.

Sed sobrios, como conviene, y dejad de pecar; porque algunos no tienen conocimiento de Dios. Para vergüenza vuestra lo digo. La gloria del cuerpo resucitado

35 B ut some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?

Pero alguno dirá: ¿Cómo resucitan los muertos ? ¿Y con qué clase de cuerpo vienen?

36 T hou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:

¡Necio! Lo que tú siembras no llega a tener vida si antes no muere;

37 a nd that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;

y lo que siembras, no siembras el cuerpo que nacerá, sino el grano desnudo, quizás de trigo o de alguna otra especie.

38 b ut God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.

Pero Dios le da un cuerpo como El quiso, y a cada semilla su propio cuerpo.

39 A ll flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.

No toda carne es la misma carne, sino que una es la de los hombres, otra la de las bestias, otra la de las aves y otra la de los peces.

40 T here are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

Hay, asimismo, cuerpos celestiales y cuerpos terrestres, pero la gloria del celestial es una, y la del terrestre es otra.

41 T here is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.

Hay una gloria del sol, y otra gloria de la luna, y otra gloria de las estrellas; pues una estrella es distinta de otra estrella en gloria.

42 S o also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

Así es también la resurrección de los muertos. Se siembra un cuerpo corruptible, se resucita un cuerpo incorruptible;

43 i t is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

se siembra en deshonra, se resucita en gloria; se siembra en debilidad, se resucita en poder;

44 i t is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

se siembra un cuerpo natural, se resucita un cuerpo espiritual. Si hay un cuerpo natural, hay también un cuerpo espiritual.

45 S o also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Así también está escrito: El primer hombre, Adán, fue hecho alma viviente. El último Adán, espíritu que da vida.

46 H owbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.

Sin embargo, el espiritual no es primero, sino el natural; luego el espiritual.

47 T he first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.

El primer hombre es de la tierra, terrenal; el segundo hombre es del cielo.

48 A s is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

Como es el terrenal, así son también los que son terrenales; y como es el celestial, así son también los que son celestiales.

49 A nd as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Y tal como hemos traído la imagen del terrenal, traeremos también la imagen del celestial. La victoria final sobre la muerte

50 N ow this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Y esto digo, hermanos: que la carne y la sangre no pueden heredar el reino de Dios; ni lo que se corrompe hereda lo incorruptible.

51 B ehold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,

He aquí, os digo un misterio: no todos dormiremos, pero todos seremos transformados

52 i n a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

en un momento, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, a la trompeta final; pues la trompeta sonará y los muertos resucitarán incorruptibles, y nosotros seremos transformados.

53 F or this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Porque es necesario que esto corruptible se vista de incorrupción, y esto mortal se vista de inmortalidad.

54 B ut when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Pero cuando esto corruptible se haya vestido de incorrupción, y esto mortal se haya vestido de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: Devorada ha sido la muerte en victoria.

55 O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

¿ Donde esta, oh muerte, tu victoria ? ¿ Donde, oh sepulcro, tu aguijon ?

56 T he sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:

El aguijón de la muerte es el pecado, y el poder del pecado es la ley;

57 b ut thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

pero a Dios gracias, que nos da la victoria por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

58 W herefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.

Por tanto, mis amados hermanos, estad firmes, constantes, abundando siempre en la obra del Señor, sabiendo que vuestro trabajo en el Señor no es en vano.
