1 T hen answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

Entonces respondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

2 H ow long wilt thou speak these things? And how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a mighty wind?

¿Hasta cuándo hablarás estas cosas, y serán viento impetuoso las palabras de tu boca ?

3 D oth God pervert justice? Or doth the Almighty pervert righteousness?

¿Acaso tuerce Dios la justicia o tuerce el Todopoderoso lo que es justo ?

4 I f thy children have sinned against him, And he hath delivered them into the hand of their transgression;

Si tus hijos pecaron contra El, entonces El los entregó al poder de su transgresión.

5 I f thou wouldest seek diligently unto God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty;

Si tú buscaras a Dios e imploraras la misericordia del Todopoderoso,

6 I f thou wert pure and upright: Surely now he would awake for thee, And make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

si fueras puro y recto, ciertamente El se despertaría ahora en tu favor y restauraría tu justa condición.

7 A nd though thy beginning was small, Yet thy latter end would greatly increase.

Aunque tu principio haya sido insignificante, con todo, tu final aumentará sobremanera.

8 F or inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out:

Pregunta, te ruego, a las generaciones pasadas, y considera las cosas escudriñadas por sus padres.

9 ( For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow);

Porque nosotros somos de ayer y nada sabemos, pues nuestros días sobre la tierra son como una sombra.

10 S hall not they teach thee, and tell thee, And utter words out of their heart?

¿No te instruirán ellos y te hablarán, y de sus corazones sacarán palabras?

11 C an the rush grow up without mire? Can the flag grow without water?

¿Puede crecer el papiro sin cenagal? ¿Puede el junco crecer sin agua?

12 W hilst it is yet in its greenness, and not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.

Estando aún verde y sin cortar, con todo, se seca antes que cualquier otra planta.

13 S o are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

Así son las sendas de todos los que se olvidan de Dios, y la esperanza del impío perecerá,

14 W hose confidence shall break in sunder, And whose trust is a spider's web.

porque es frágil su confianza, y una tela de araña su seguridad.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: He shall hold fast thereby, but it shall not endure.

Confía en su casa, pero ésta no se sostiene; se aferra a ella, pero ésta no perdura.

16 H e is green before the sun, And his shoots go forth over his garden.

Crece con vigor delante del sol, y sus renuevos brotan sobre su jardín.

17 H is roots are wrapped about the stone -heap, He beholdeth the place of stones.

Sus raíces se entrelazan sobre un montón de rocas; vive en una casa de piedras.

18 I f he be destroyed from his place, Then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

Si se le arranca de su lugar, éste le negará, diciendo: “Nunca te vi.”

19 B ehold, this is the joy of his way; And out of the earth shall others spring.

He aquí, este es el gozo de su camino; y del polvo brotarán otros.

20 B ehold, God will not cast away a perfect man, Neither will he uphold the evil-doers.

He aquí, Dios no rechaza al íntegro, ni sostiene a los malhechores.

21 H e will yet fill thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with shouting.

Aún ha de llenar de risa tu boca, y tus labios de gritos de júbilo.

22 T hey that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; And the tent of the wicked shall be no more.

Los que te odian serán cubiertos de vergüenza, y la tienda de los impíos no existirá más.
