1 G od said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

Entonces Dios dijo a Jacob: “Levántate, sube a Betel (Casa de Dios) y habita allí. Haz allí un altar a Dios, que se te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.”

2 T hen Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.

Y Jacob dijo a los de su casa y a todos los que estaban con él: “Quiten los dioses extranjeros que hay entre ustedes. Purifíquense y cámbiense los vestidos.

3 L et us arise, and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me on the way which I went.”

Levantémonos, y subamos a Betel; y allí haré un altar a Dios, quien me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y que ha estado conmigo en el camino por donde he andado.”

4 T hey gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

Entregaron, pues, a Jacob todos los dioses extranjeros que tenían en su poder y los pendientes que tenían en sus orejas; y Jacob los escondió debajo de la encina que estaba junto a Siquem.

5 T hey traveled, and a terror of God was on the cities that were around them, and they didn’t pursue the sons of Jacob.

Al continuar el viaje, hubo gran terror en las ciudades alrededor de ellos, y no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.

6 S o Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

Llegó Jacob a Luz, es decir, Betel, que está en la tierra de Canaán, él y todo el pueblo que estaba con él.

7 H e built an altar there, and called the place El Beth El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Edificó allí un altar, y llamó al lugar El Betel (Dios de Betel), porque allí Dios se le había manifestado cuando huía de su hermano.

8 D eborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; and its name was called Allon Bacuth.

Débora, nodriza de Rebeca, murió y fue sepultada al pie de Betel, debajo de la encina. Esta fue llamada Alón Bacut (Encina del Llanto). Dios Bendice a Jacob

9 G od appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan Aram, and blessed him.

Cuando Jacob volvió de Padán Aram Dios se le apareció de nuevo, y lo bendijo.

10 G od said to him, “Your name is Jacob. Your name shall not be Jacob any more, but your name will be Israel.” He named him Israel.

Y Dios le dijo: “Tu nombre es Jacob; No te llamarás más Jacob, Sino que tu nombre será Israel.” Y le puso el nombre de Israel.

11 G od said to him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.

También le dijo Dios: “Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Sé fecundo y multiplícate; Una nación y multitud de naciones vendrán de ti, Y reyes saldrán de tus entrañas.

12 T he land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your offspring after you will I give the land.”

La tierra que les di a Abraham y a Isaac, Te la daré a ti Y a tu descendencia después de ti.”

13 G od went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

Entonces Dios se alejó de su lado, del lugar donde había hablado con él.

14 J acob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it.

Jacob erigió un pilar en el lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, un pilar de piedra, y derramó sobre él una libación; también derramó sobre él aceite.

15 J acob called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Bethel”.

Y Jacob le puso el nombre de Betel (Casa de Dios) al lugar donde Dios había hablado con él. Nacimiento de Benjamín

16 T hey traveled from Bethel. There was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor.

Entonces salieron de Betel; y cuando aún faltaba cierta distancia para llegar a Efrata, Raquel comenzó a dar a luz y tuvo mucha dificultad en su parto.

17 W hen she was in hard labor, the midwife said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for now you will have another son.”

Cuando ella estaba en lo más duro del parto, la partera le dijo: “No temas, porque ahora tienes este otro hijo.”

18 A s her soul was departing (for she died), she named him Benoni, but his father named him Benjamin.

Y cuando su alma partía, (pues murió), lo llamó Benoni (Hijo de mi Tristeza); pero su padre lo llamó Benjamín (Hijo de la Diestra).

19 R achel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath (also called Bethlehem).

Murió Raquel, y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, es decir, Belén (Casa del Pan).

20 J acob set up a pillar on her grave. The same is the Pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.

Y Jacob erigió un pilar sobre su sepultura; ése es el pilar de la sepultura de Raquel hasta hoy.

21 I srael traveled, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Eder.

Entonces Israel salió y plantó su tienda más allá de Migdal Eder (Torre del Rebaño). Los Doce Hijos de Jacob

22 W hile Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.

Y mientras Israel moraba en aquella tierra, Rubén fue y se acostó con Bilha, concubina de su padre; e Israel lo supo. Y los hijos de Jacob fueron doce.

23 T he sons of Leah: Reuben (Jacob’s firstborn), Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

Hijos de Lea: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob, después Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón.

24 T he sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

Hijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.

25 T he sons of Bilhah (Rachel’s servant): Dan and Naphtali.

Hijos de Bilha, sierva de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.

26 T he sons of Zilpah (Leah’s servant): Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.

27 J acob came to Isaac his father, to Mamre, to Kiriath Arba (which is Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac lived as foreigners.

Jacob fue a su padre Isaac en Mamre de Quiriat Arba, es decir, Hebrón, donde habían residido Abraham e Isaac.

28 T he days of Isaac were one hundred eighty years.

Isaac vivió 180 años.

29 I saac gave up the spirit, and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.

Y expiró Isaac. Murió y fue reunido a su pueblo, anciano y lleno de días. Sus hijos Esaú y Jacob lo sepultaron.
