1 S ay ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

Digan a sus hermanos: “Ammí (Pueblo Mío),” y a sus hermanas: “Ruhamá (Compadecida).”

2 C ontend with your mother, contend; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

“Discutan con su madre, discutan, Porque ella no es mi mujer, y Yo no soy su marido; Que quite, pues, de su rostro sus prostituciones, Y sus adulterios de entre sus pechos;

3 l est I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

No sea que Yo la desnude completamente Y la deje como el día en que nació, Y la ponga como un desierto, La reduzca a tierra seca Y la mate de sed.

4 Y ea, upon her children will I have no mercy; for they are children of whoredom;

Tampoco tendré compasión de sus hijos, Porque son hijos de prostitución,

5 f or their mother hath played the harlot; she that conceived them hath done shamefully; for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

Pues su madre se prostituyó; La que los concibió se deshonró, Porque dijo: ‘Iré tras mis amantes, Que me dan mi pan y mi agua, Mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida.’

6 T herefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she shall not find her paths.

Por tanto, voy a cercar su camino con espinos, Y levantaré un muro contra ella para que no encuentre sus senderos.

7 A nd she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

Ella seguirá a sus amantes, pero no los alcanzará; Los buscará, pero no los hallará. Entonces dirá: ‘Iré y volveré a mi primer marido, Porque mejor me iba entonces que ahora.’

8 F or she did not know that I gave her the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied unto her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

Pues ella no sabía que era Yo el que le daba el trigo, el vino nuevo y el aceite, Y le prodigaba la plata y el oro, Que ellos usaban para Baal.

9 T herefore will I take back my grain in the time thereof, and my new wine in the season thereof, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness.

Por tanto, volveré a tomar Mi trigo a su tiempo Y Mi vino nuevo a su sazón. También me llevaré Mi lana y Mi lino Que le di para que cubriera su desnudez.

10 A nd now will I uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of my hand.

Y entonces descubriré su vergüenza Ante los ojos de sus amantes, Y nadie la librará de Mi mano.

11 I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feasts, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.

Haré cesar también todo su regocijo, Sus fiestas, sus lunas nuevas, sus días de reposo, Y todas sus solemnidades.

12 A nd I will lay waste her vines and her fig-trees, whereof she hath said, These are my hire that my lovers have given me; and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

Devastaré sus vides y sus higueras, De las cuales decía ella: ‘Son la paga Que mis amantes me han dado.’ Y las convertiré en matorral, Y las devorarán las bestias del campo.

13 A nd I will visit upon her the days of the Baalim, unto which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith Jehovah.

La castigaré por los días de los Baales Cuando ella les ofrecía sacrificios Y se adornaba con sus zarcillos y joyas, Y se iba tras sus amantes, y se olvidaba de Mí,” declara el Señor. Dios se Desposará con Su Pueblo

14 T herefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

“Por tanto, voy a seducirla, Llevarla al desierto, Y hablarle al corazón.

15 A nd I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall make answer there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

Allí le daré sus viñas, Y el Valle de Acor por puerta de esperanza. Y allí cantará como en los días de su juventud, Como en el día en que subió de la tierra de Egipto.

16 A nd it shall be at that day, saith Jehovah, that thou shalt call me Ishi, and shalt call me no more Baali.

Sucederá en aquel día,” declara el Señor, “que Me llamarás Ishí (esposo mío) Y no Me llamarás más Baalí (mi señor).

17 F or I will take away the names of the Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned by their name.

Porque quitaré de su boca los nombres de los Baales, Y nunca más serán mencionados por sus nombres.

18 A nd in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely.

En aquel día haré también un pacto por ellos Con las bestias del campo, Con las aves del cielo Y con los reptiles de la tierra. Quitaré de la tierra el arco, la espada y la guerra, Y haré que ellos duerman seguros.

19 A nd I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

Te desposaré conmigo para siempre; Sí, te desposaré conmigo en justicia y en derecho, En misericordia y en compasión;

20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know Jehovah.

Te desposaré conmigo en fidelidad, Y tú conocerás al Señor.

21 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, I will answer, saith Jehovah, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth;

Y sucederá que en aquel día Yo responderé,” declara el Señor, “responderé a los cielos, y ellos responderán a la tierra,

22 a nd the earth shall answer the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they shall answer Jezreel.

Y la tierra responderá al trigo, al vino nuevo y al aceite, Y ellos responderán a Jezreel (Dios siembra).

23 A nd I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them that were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

La sembraré para Mí en la tierra, Y tendré compasión de la que no recibió compasión, Y diré al que no era Mi pueblo: ‘Tú eres Mi pueblo,’ Y él dirá: ‘Tú eres mi Dios.’”
