1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

2 A venge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.

“Toma completa venganza sobre los Madianitas por los Israelitas; después serás reunido a tu pueblo.”

3 A nd Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Jehovah's vengeance on Midian.

Y Moisés habló al pueblo y le dijo: “Armen a algunos hombres de entre ustedes para la guerra, a fin de que suban contra Madián para ejecutar la venganza del Señor en Madián.

4 O f every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.

Enviarán a la guerra 1, 000 de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel.”

5 S o there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

Entonces se prepararon de entre los miles de Israel 1, 000 de cada tribu, 12, 000 hombres armados para la guerra.

6 A nd Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

Y Moisés los envió a la guerra, 1, 000 de cada tribu, y a Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a la guerra con ellos, con los vasos sagrados y las trompetas en su mano para la alarma.

7 A nd they warred against Midian, as Jehovah commanded Moses; and they slew every male.

Los Israelitas hicieron guerra contra Madián, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés, y mataron a todos los varones.

8 A nd they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

Junto con sus muertos, mataron a los reyes de Madián: Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba, los cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam, hijo de Beor.

9 A nd the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.

Y los Israelitas tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián y a sus pequeños; y saquearon todo su ganado, todos sus rebaños y todos sus bienes.

10 A nd all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.

Después prendieron fuego a todas las ciudades donde habitaban y a todos sus campamentos.

11 A nd they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast.

Y tomaron todo el despojo y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de animales.

12 A nd they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.

Los cautivos, el botín y los despojos los trajeron a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a la congregación de los Israelitas, al campamento en las llanuras de Moab que están junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

13 A nd Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, y todos los jefes de la congregación salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.

14 A nd Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

Moisés se enojó con los oficiales del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, que volvían del servicio en la guerra,

15 A nd Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

y Moisés les dijo: “¿Han dejado con vida a todas las mujeres ?

16 B ehold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Jehovah.

Estas fueron la causa de que los Israelitas, por el consejo de Balaam, fueran infieles al Señor en el asunto de Peor, por lo que hubo plaga entre la congregación del Señor.

17 N ow therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Ahora pues, maten a todo varón entre los niños, y maten a toda mujer que haya conocido varón acostándose con él.

18 B ut all the women-children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Pero a todas las jóvenes que no hayan conocido varón acostándose con él, las dejarán con vida para ustedes.

19 A nd encamp ye without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives.

Y ustedes, acampen fuera del campamento por siete días; todo el que haya matado a una persona y todo el que haya tocado a un muerto, purifíquense, ustedes y sus cautivos, al tercero y al séptimo día.

20 A nd as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify yourselves.

Y purificarán todo vestido, todo artículo de cuero y toda obra de pelo de cabra y todo objeto de madera.”

21 A nd Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

Entonces el sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que habían ido a la batalla: “Este es el estatuto de la ley que el Señor ha ordenado a Moisés:

22 h owbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

sólo el oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,

23 e verything that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water.

todo lo que resiste el fuego, pasarán por el fuego y será limpio, pero será purificado con el agua para la impureza. Pero todo lo que no resiste el fuego lo pasarán por agua.

24 A nd ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

Y en el séptimo día lavarán su ropa y serán limpios; después podrán entrar al campamento.”

25 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés:

26 T ake the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation;

“Cuenta el botín que fue tomado tanto de hombres como de animales; tú con el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de las casas paternas de la congregación,

27 a nd divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation.

y divide en mitades el botín entre los guerreros que salieron a la batalla y toda la congregación.

28 A nd levy a tribute unto Jehovah of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the flocks:

Y toma un tributo para el Señor de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la batalla, uno por cada 500 tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas;

29 t ake it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for Jehovah's heave-offering.

tómalo de la mitad de ellos, y dáselo al sacerdote Eleazar, como ofrenda al Señor.

30 A nd of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.

De la mitad de los Israelitas tomarás uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas, de cualquier animal, y los darás a los Levitas que guardan el tabernáculo del Señor.”

31 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

32 N ow the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,

Y el botín que quedó del despojo que los hombres de guerra habían tomado fue de 675, 000 ovejas,

33 a nd threescore and twelve thousand oxen,

72, 000 cabezas de ganado,

34 a nd threescore and one thousand asses,

y 61, 000 asnos;

35 a nd thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him.

36 A nd the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep:

Y la mitad, la porción para los que salieron a la guerra, fue de 337, 500 ovejas el número;

37 a nd Jehovah's tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.

el tributo al Señor fue de 675 ovejas;

38 A nd the oxen were thirty and six thousand; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and twelve.

y las cabezas de ganado, 36, 000 de las cuales el tributo al Señor fue de 72;

39 A nd the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Jehovah's tribute was threescore and one.

y los asnos, 30, 500 de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de 61.

40 A nd the persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Jehovah's tribute was thirty and two persons.

41 A nd Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah's heave-offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Moisés dio el tributo, que era la ofrenda del Señor, al sacerdote Eleazar, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

42 A nd of the children of Israel's half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred,

43 ( now the congregation's half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred sheep,

44 a nd thirty and six thousand oxen,

45 a nd thirty thousand and five hundred asses,

30, 500 asnos,

46 a nd sixteen thousand persons),

47 e ven of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

De la mitad del botín de los Israelitas, Moisés tomó uno de cada 50, tanto de hombres como de animales, y se los dio a los Levitas, los cuales estaban encargados del tabernáculo del Señor, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

48 A nd the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses;

Entonces los oficiales que estaban sobre los miles del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, se acercaron a Moisés;

49 a nd they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

y dijeron a Moisés: “Tus siervos han levantado un censo de los hombres de guerra que están a nuestro cargo, y no falta ninguno de nosotros.

50 A nd we have brought Jehovah's oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.

Por tanto, hemos traído al Señor, como ofrenda, lo que cada hombre ha hallado: objetos de oro, pulseras, brazaletes, anillos, pendientes y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros ante el Señor.”

51 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y toda clase de objetos labrados.

52 A nd all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

Y el total del oro de la ofrenda que ellos ofrecieron al Señor, de los capitanes de miles y de los capitanes de cientos, fue de 16, 750 siclos (191 kilos).

53 ( For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.)

54 A nd Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los capitanes de miles y de cientos, y lo llevaron a la tienda de reunión como memorial para los Israelitas delante del Señor.
