1 Y e are the children of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

“Ustedes son hijos del Señor su Dios; no se sajarán ni se rasurarán la frente a causa de un muerto.

2 F or thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and Jehovah hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

Porque eres pueblo santo para el Señor tu Dios; y el Señor te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo de Su exclusiva posesión de entre los pueblos que están sobre la superficie de la tierra.

3 T hou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

No comerás nada abominable.

4 T hese are the beasts which ye may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

Estos son los animales que ustedes podrán comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,

5 t he hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois.

el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés.

6 A nd every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.

Y cualquier animal de pezuña dividida que tenga la pezuña hendida en dos mitades y que rumie, lo podrán comer.

7 N evertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney; because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you.

Pero éstos no comerán de entre los que rumian o de entre los que tienen la pezuña dividida en dos: el camello, el conejo y el damán; pues aunque rumian, no tienen la pezuña dividida; para ustedes serán inmundos.

8 A nd the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch.

El cerdo, aunque tiene la pezuña dividida, no rumia; será inmundo para ustedes. No comerán de su carne ni tocarán sus cadáveres.

9 T hese ye may eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales may ye eat;

“De todo lo que vive en el agua, éstos podrán comer: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas,

10 a nd whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.

pero no comerán nada que no tenga aletas ni escamas; será inmundo para ustedes.

11 O f all clean birds ye may eat.

“Toda ave limpia podrán comer.

12 B ut these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,

Pero éstas no comerán: el águila, el buitre y el buitre negro;

13 a nd the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind,

el azor, el halcón y el milano según su especie;

14 a nd every raven after its kind,

todo cuervo según su especie;

15 a nd the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kind,

el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según su especie;

16 t he little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl,

el búho, el búho real, la lechuza blanca,

17 a nd the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant,

el pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo,

18 a nd the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

la cigüeña y la garza según su especie; la abubilla y el murciélago.

19 A nd all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

Todo insecto alado será inmundo para ustedes; no se comerá.

20 O f all clean birds ye may eat.

Toda ave limpia podrán comer.

21 Y e shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the sojourner that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

“No comerán ningún animal que se muera. Lo podrás dar al extranjero que está en tus ciudades, para que lo coma, o lo podrás vender a un extranjero, porque tú eres un pueblo santo al Señor tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre. Leyes Acerca del Diezmo

22 T hou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth from the field year by year.

“Fielmente diezmarás todo el producto de tu siembra, lo que rinda tu campo cada año.

23 A nd thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy grain, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God always.

Comerás en la presencia del Señor tu Dios, en el lugar que El escoja para poner allí Su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino nuevo y de tu aceite, y los primogénitos de tus vacas y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer siempre al Señor tu Dios.

24 A nd if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God shall bless thee;

Pero si el camino es tan largo para ti, que no seas capaz de llevar el diezmo por estar lejos el lugar donde el Señor tu Dios escoja para poner allí Su nombre, cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya bendecido,

25 t hen shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose:

entonces lo cambiarás por dinero, y atarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoja.

26 a nd thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thy household.

Podrás gastar el dinero en todo lo que tu corazón apetezca: en vacas u ovejas, en vino o sidra, o en cualquier otra cosa que tu corazón desee; allí comerás en presencia del Señor tu Dios, y te alegrarás tú y tu casa.

27 A nd the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

Tampoco desampararás al Levita que habite en tus ciudades, porque él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.

28 A t the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

“Al fin de cada tercer año, sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año y lo depositarás en tus ciudades.

29 a nd the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.

Y vendrá el Levita, que no tiene parte ni herencia contigo, también el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda que habitan en tus ciudades, y comerán y se saciarán, para que el Señor tu Dios te bendiga en toda obra que tu mano haga.
