1 A nd it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and Jehovah had given him rest from all his enemies round about,

Sucedió que cuando el rey David ya moraba en su casa, y el Señor le había dado descanso de sus enemigos por todos lados,

2 t hat the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

el rey dijo al profeta Natán: “Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro, pero el arca de Dios mora en medio de cortinas.”

3 A nd Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart; for Jehovah is with thee.

Entonces Natán dijo al rey: “Vaya, haga todo lo que está en su corazón, porque el Señor está con usted.”

4 A nd it came to pass the same night, that the word of Jehovah came unto Nathan, saying,

Y esa misma noche la palabra del Señor vino a Natán:

5 G o and tell my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah, Shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?

“Ve y dile a Mi siervo David: ‘Así dice el Señor: “¿Eres tú el que Me va a edificar una casa para morar en ella ?

6 f or I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

Pues no he morado en una casa desde el día en que saqué de Egipto a los Israelitas hasta hoy, sino que he andado errante en una tienda, en un tabernáculo.

7 I n all places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel, spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built me a house of cedar?

Dondequiera que he ido con todos los Israelitas, ¿hablé palabra a alguna de las tribus de Israel, a la cual haya ordenado que pastoreara a Mi pueblo Israel, diciéndoles: ‘¿Por qué ustedes no Me han edificado una casa de cedro?’”’

8 N ow therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be prince over my people, over Israel;

“Ahora pues, así dirás a Mi siervo David: ‘Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Yo te tomé del pastizal (del redil), de seguir las ovejas, para que fueras príncipe sobre Mi pueblo Israel.

9 a nd I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a great name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.

Y he estado contigo por dondequiera que has ido y he exterminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, y haré de ti un gran nombre como el nombre de los grandes que hay en la tierra.

10 A nd I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,

Asignaré también un lugar para Mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré allí a fin de que habite en su propio lugar y no sea perturbado de nuevo, ni los malvados los aflijan más como antes,

11 a nd as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will cause thee to rest from all thine enemies. Moreover Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will make thee a house.

desde el día en que ordené que hubiera jueces sobre Mi pueblo Israel. A ti te daré reposo de todos tus enemigos. El Señor también te hace saber que el Señor te edificará una casa.

12 W hen thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

Cuando tus días se cumplan y reposes con tus padres, levantaré a tu descendiente después de ti, el cual saldrá de tus entrañas, y estableceré su reino.

13 H e shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

El edificará casa a Mi nombre, y Yo estableceré el trono de su reino para siempre.

14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;

Yo seré padre para él y él será hijo para Mí. Cuando cometa iniquidad, lo castigaré con vara de hombres y con azotes de hijos de hombres,

15 b ut my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

pero Mi misericordia no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl a quien quité de delante de ti.

16 A nd thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

Tu casa y tu reino permanecerán para siempre delante de Mí; tu trono será establecido para siempre.”’”

17 A ccording to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

Conforme a todas estas palabras y conforme a toda esta visión, así Natán habló a David.

18 T hen David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?

Entonces el rey David entró y se sentó delante del Señor y dijo: “¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor Dios, y qué es mi casa para que me hayas traído hasta aquí?

19 A nd this was yet a small thing in thine eyes, O Lord Jehovah; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come; and this too after the manner of men, O Lord Jehovah!

Y aun esto fue insignificante ante Tus ojos, oh Señor Dios, pues también has hablado de la casa de Tu siervo concerniente a un futuro lejano. Y ésta es la ley de los hombres, oh Señor Dios.

20 A nd what can David say more unto thee? for thou knowest thy servant, O Lord Jehovah.

¿Y qué más podría decirte David? Pues Tú conoces a Tu siervo, oh Señor Dios.

21 F or thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou wrought all this greatness, to make thy servant know it.

A causa de Tu palabra, conforme a Tu propio corazón, Tú has hecho toda esta grandeza, para que lo sepa Tu siervo.

22 W herefore thou art great, O Jehovah God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Oh Señor Dios, por eso Tú eres grande; pues no hay nadie como Tú, ni hay Dios fuera de Ti, conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

23 A nd what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem unto himself for a people, and to make him a name, and to do great things for you, and terrible things for thy land, before thy people, whom thou redeemest to thee out of Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

¿Y qué otra nación en la tierra es como Tu pueblo Israel, al cual viniste a redimir para Ti como pueblo, a fin de darte un nombre, y hacer grandes cosas a su favor y cosas portentosas para Tu tierra, ante Tu pueblo que rescataste para Ti de Egipto, de naciones y de sus dioses?

24 A nd thou didst establish to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever; and thou, Jehovah, becamest their God.

Pues Tú has establecido para Ti a Tu pueblo Israel como pueblo Tuyo para siempre, y Tú, Señor, has venido a ser su Dios.

25 A nd now, O Jehovah God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, confirm thou it for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.

Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, confirma para siempre la palabra que has hablado acerca de Tu siervo y acerca de su casa, y haz según has hablado.

26 A nd let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is God over Israel; and the house of thy servant David shall be established before thee.

Y sea engrandecido Tu nombre para siempre, al decirse: ‘El Señor de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel;’ y que la casa de Tu siervo David sea establecida delante de Ti.

27 F or thou, O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee a house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

Porque Tú, oh Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has revelado a Tu siervo, diciendo: ‘Yo te edificaré casa;’ por tanto, Tu siervo ha hallado ánimo para elevar esta oración a Ti.

28 A nd now, O Lord Jehovah, thou art God, and thy words are truth, and thou hast promised this good thing unto thy servant:

Ahora pues, oh Señor Dios, Tú eres Dios, Tus palabras son verdad y Tú has prometido este bien a Tu siervo.

29 n ow therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Jehovah, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

Y ahora, ten a bien bendecir la casa de Tu siervo, a fin de que permanezca para siempre delante de ti. Porque Tú, oh Señor Dios, has hablado y con Tu bendición será bendita para siempre la casa de Tu siervo.”
