1 A nd Jehovah said unto me, Take thee a great tablet, and write upon it with the pen of a man, For Maher-shalal-hash-baz;

Entonces el Señor me dijo: “Toma una tablilla grande y escribe sobre ella en caracteres comunes: Veloz es el botín, rápida la presa.

2 a nd I will take unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

Y tomé conmigo como testigos fieles al sacerdote Urías y a Zacarías, hijo de Jeberequías.”

3 A nd I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said Jehovah unto me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

Me acerqué a la profetisa, y ella concibió y dio a luz un hijo. Y el Señor me dijo: “Ponle por nombre Maher Shalal Hash Baz.

4 F or before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.

“Porque antes que el niño sepa clamar ‘padre mío’ o ‘madre mía,’ la riqueza de Damasco y el botín de Samaria serán llevados ante el rey de Asiria.”

5 A nd Jehovah spake unto me yet again, saying,

Y volvió el Señor a hablarme de nuevo, diciendo:

6 F orasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;

“Por cuanto este pueblo ha rehusado las aguas de Siloé que corren mansamente, Y se ha regocijado en Rezín y en el hijo de Remalías,

7 n ow therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks;

Por tanto, el Señor va a traer sobre ellos las aguas impetuosas y abundantes del Eufrates, Es decir, al rey de Asiria con toda su gloria, Que se saldrá de todos sus cauces y pasará sobre todas sus riberas.

8 a nd it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

Fluirá con ímpetu en Judá, inundará y seguirá adelante, Hasta el cuello llegará, Y la extensión de sus alas Llenará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emmanuel (Dios con nosotros).

9 M ake an uproar, O ye peoples, and be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces.

Quebrántense, pueblos, que serán destrozados; Presten oído, confines todos de la tierra. Prepárense, que serán destrozados; Prepárense, que serán destrozados.

10 T ake counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

Tracen un plan, pero será frustrado; Profieran una palabra, pero no permanecerá, Porque Dios está con nosotros (Emmanuel).”

11 F or Jehovah spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

Pues así el Señor me habló con gran poder y me instruyó para que no anduviera en el camino de este pueblo, y dijo:

12 S ay ye not, A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people shall say, A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be in dread thereof.

“No digan ustedes: ‘ Es conspiración,’ A todo lo que este pueblo llama conspiración, Ni teman lo que ellos temen, ni se aterroricen.

13 J ehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Al Señor de los ejércitos es a quien ustedes deben tener por santo. Sea El su temor, Y sea El su terror.

14 A nd he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Entonces El vendrá a ser santuario; Pero piedra de tropiezo y roca de escándalo Para ambas casas de Israel, Y lazo y trampa para los habitantes de Jerusalén.

15 A nd many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

Muchos tropezarán allí, Y caerán y serán quebrantados; Serán enlazados y apresados.”

16 B ind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

Ata el testimonio, sella la ley entre mis discípulos.

17 A nd I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

Aguardaré al Señor que esconde Su rostro de la casa de Jacob. Sí, a El esperaré.

18 B ehold, I and the children whom Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion.

Yo y los hijos que el Señor me ha dado estamos por señales y prodigios en Israel, de parte del Señor de los ejércitos que mora en el Monte Sion.

19 A nd when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living should they seek unto the dead?

Y cuando les digan: “Consulten a los adivinos y a los espiritistas que susurran y murmuran,” digan: ‘¿No debe un pueblo consultar a su Dios ?’ ¿ Acaso consultará a los muertos por los vivos ?

20 T o the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si ellos no hablan conforme a esta palabra, es porque no hay para ellos amanecer.

21 A nd they shall pass through it, sore distressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass that, when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and turn their faces upward:

Y pasarán por la tierra oprimidos y hambrientos. Y sucederá que cuando tengan hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán a su rey y a su Dios, volviendo el rostro hacia arriba.

22 a nd they shall look unto the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness they shall be driven away.

Después mirarán hacia la tierra, y verán tribulación y tinieblas, lo sombrío de la angustia; y serán lanzados a la oscuridad.
