1 N ow Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom.

Y Salomón decidió edificar una casa al nombre del Señor, y un palacio real para sí.

2 A nd Solomon counted out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand men that were hewers in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

Y designó Salomón 70, 000 hombres para llevar cargas, 80, 000 para labrar piedra en los montes y 3, 600 para dirigirlos.

3 A nd Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him a house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

Entonces Salomón envió un mensaje a Hiram, rey de Tiro, diciendo: “Haz conmigo como hiciste con mi padre David, enviándole cedros para edificarle una casa donde habitar.

4 B ehold, I am about to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual showbread, and for the burnt-offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts of Jehovah our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

Voy a edificar una casa al nombre del Señor mi Dios, para consagrársela, para quemar incienso aromático delante de El, para colocar continuamente los panes de la proposición y para ofrecer holocaustos por la mañana y por la tarde, en los días de reposo, en las lunas nuevas y en las fiestas señaladas del Señor nuestro Dios; esto será ordenanza perpetua en Israel.

5 A nd the house which I build is great; for great is our God above all gods.

Y la casa que voy a edificar será grande; porque nuestro Dios es grande, más que todos los dioses.

6 B ut who is able to build him a house, seeing heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, save only to burn incense before him?

Pero ¿quién será capaz de edificar una casa a Dios, cuando los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerlo ? ¿Quién soy yo para que Le edifique una casa, aunque sólo sea para quemar incienso delante de El?

7 N ow therefore send me a man skilful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that knoweth how to grave all manner of gravings, to be with the skilful men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

8 S end me also cedar-trees, fir-trees, and algum-trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that thy servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon: and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,

Envíame también del Líbano madera de cedro, ciprés y sándalo, porque yo sé que tus siervos saben cortar la madera del Líbano; y mis siervos trabajarán con tus siervos

9 e ven to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

para que me preparen madera en abundancia, porque la casa que voy a edificar será grande y maravillosa.

10 A nd, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

Por mi parte yo daré a tus siervos, los trabajadores que cortan la madera, 4. 4 millones de litros (20, 000 coros) de trigo en grano, y 4. 4 millones de litros de cebada, y 444, 000 litros (20, 000 batos) de vino, y 444, 000 litros de aceite.”

11 T hen Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because Jehovah loveth his people, he hath made thee king over them.

Hiram, rey de Tiro, respondió en una carta que envió a Salomón: “Por cuanto el Señor ama a Su pueblo, te ha hecho rey sobre ellos.”

12 H uram said moreover, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom.

Y añadió Hiram: “Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, que ha hecho los cielos y la tierra, que ha dado al rey David un hijo sabio, dotado de prudencia y entendimiento, que edificará una casa para el Señor y un palacio real para sí.

13 A nd now I have sent a skilful man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father's,

Y ahora te envío a Hiram Abí, hombre hábil, dotado de entendimiento,

14 t he son of a woman of the daughters of Dan; and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, also to grave any manner of graving, and to devise any device; that there may be a place appointed unto him with thy skilful men, and with the skilful men of my lord David thy father.

hijo de una mujer de las hijas de Dan y cuyo padre es de Tiro, el cual sabe trabajar en oro, en plata, en bronce, en hierro, en piedra, en madera y en material de púrpura, violeta, lino y carmesí, y sabe hacer toda clase de grabados y cualquier diseño que se le asigne, para trabajar con tus expertos y con los expertos de mi señor David, tu padre.

15 N ow therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:

Ahora pues, envíe mi señor a sus siervos el trigo, la cebada, el aceite y el vino, de los cuales ha hablado.

16 a nd we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need; and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.

Y nosotros cortaremos toda la madera que necesites del Líbano, te la traeremos en balsas por el mar hasta Jope y tú la harás llevar a Jerusalén.”

17 A nd Solomon numbered all the sojourners that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found a hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.

Salomón contó todos los extranjeros que estaban en la tierra de Israel, después del censo que su padre David había hecho; y se hallaron 153, 600.

18 A nd he set threescore and ten thousand of them to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand that were hewers in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people at work.

Puso 70, 000 de ellos a llevar cargas, 80, 000 a labrar piedras en los montes y 3, 600 como capataces para hacer trabajar al pueblo.
