1 ¿ Por qué se rebelan los pueblos? ¿Por qué conspiran las naciones?

Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?

2 L os reyes de la tierra hacen alianzas; los caudillos se declaran en contra del Señor y de su Mesías. Y dicen:

The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,

3 « ¡Vamos a quitarnos sus cadenas! ¡Vamos a librarnos de sus ataduras!»

Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

4 E l que reina en los cielos se ríe; el Señor se burla de ellos.

He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

5 P ero ya enfurecido, les habla, y con su enojo los deja turbados.

Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:

6 « Ya he establecido a mi rey sobre el monte Sión, mi lugar santo.»

Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.

7 Y o daré a conocer el decreto que el Señor me ha comunicado: «Tú eres mi hijo. En este día te he engendrado.

I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.

8 P ídeme que te dé las naciones como herencia, y tuyos serán los confines de la tierra.

Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9 S ometerás a las naciones con cetro de hierro, y las destrozarás como a vasijas de barro.»

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10 U stedes, los reyes: ¡sean prudentes! Y ustedes, los jueces: ¡admitan la corrección!

Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 S irvan al Señor con reverencia y ríndanle culto con temor reverente.

Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.

12 R índanse a los pies de su Hijo, no sea que él se enoje y ustedes perezcan, pues su enojo se enciende de repente. ¡Bienaventurados son los que en él confían!

Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.
