1 C antemos con gozo a Dios, nuestra fortaleza; aclamemos con júbilo al Dios de Jacob.

Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2 E ntonemos cánticos, al son del pandero, de la melodiosa arpa y del salterio.

Raise a song, and bring hither the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.

3 T oquemos la trompeta en el novilunio, en el día señalado para nuestra fiesta solemne.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast-day.

4 E sto es un estatuto para Israel; es una ordenanza del Dios de Jacob,

For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.

5 q ue la constituyó como testimonio para José cuando salió contra la tierra de Egipto. Oí un lenguaje que no pude entender:

He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, Where I heard a language that I knew not.

6 « Liberé tu hombro de llevar pesada carga; tus manos dejaron de cargar los cestos.

I removed his shoulder from the burden: His hands were freed from the basket.

7 E n tu angustia clamaste a mí, y yo te salvé; desde el centro del trueno te respondí, y junto a las aguas de Meriba te puse a prueba.

Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah

8 » Escúchame, pueblo mío, que quiero amonestarte. ¡Cómo quisiera yo, Israel, que me escucharas!

Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!

9 N o debes tener ningún dios ajeno. No debes inclinarte ante dioses extraños.

There shall no strange god be in thee; Neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.

10 Y o soy el Señor, tu Dios; yo te saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Abre la boca, y yo te daré de comer.

I am Jehovah thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 » Pero tú, mi pueblo, no escuchaste mi voz; tú, Israel, no quisiste obedecerme,

But my people hearkened not to my voice; And Israel would none of me.

12 y por tu obstinación te abandoné para que siguieras tus propios consejos.

So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.

13 ¡ Ay, pueblo mío! ¡Si me hubieras escuchado! ¡Ay, Israel! ¡Si hubieras seguido mis caminos!

Oh that my people would hearken unto me, That Israel would walk in my ways!

14 ¡ En un instante habría derrotado a tus enemigos, y habría descargado mi mano sobre tus adversarios!

I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries.

15 L os que me aborrecen se me habrían sometido, y yo, el Señor, pondría para siempre fin a sus días.

The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him: But their time should endure for ever.

16 P ero a ti te alimentaría con lo mejor del trigo, y apagaría tu sed con miel extraída de la peña.»

He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.
