1 D avid también se construyó casas en la ciudad de David, y preparó un lugar para el arca de Dios y le instaló una tienda.

And David made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

2 L uego dijo: «El arca de Dios debe ser llevada sólo por los levitas; porque fue a ellos a quienes el Señor eligió para que la lleven y le sirvan siempre.»

Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath Jehovah chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

3 Y David congregó a todo Israel en Jerusalén para que se llevara el arca del Señor al lugar que le había preparado.

And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Jehovah unto its place, which he had prepared for it.

4 D avid reunió además a los aaronitas y a los levitas.

And David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites:

5 D e los descendientes de Coat, reunió a Uriel, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: ciento veinte personas.

of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty;

6 D e los descendientes de Merari, a Asaías, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: doscientos veinte personas.

of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty;

7 D e los hijos de Gersón, a Joel, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: ciento treinta personas.

of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty;

8 D e los hijos de Elisafán, a Semaías, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: doscientas personas.

of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred;

9 D e los hijos de Hebrón, a Eliel, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: ochenta personas.

of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore;

10 D e los hijos de Uziel, a Aminadab, que era su jefe, y a sus parientes: ciento doce personas.

of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twelve.

11 D espués, David llamó a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar, y a los levitas Uriel, Asaías, Joel, Semaías, Eliel y Aminadab,

And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

12 y les dijo: «Ustedes son los principales padres de familia de los levitas, así que santifíquense, ustedes y sus hermanos, y lleven el arca del Señor, Dios de Israel, al lugar que le he preparado.

and said unto them, Ye are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto the place that I have prepared for it.

13 C omo ustedes no lo hicieron así la primera vez, el Señor nuestro Dios nos castigó, pues no lo consultamos como debimos hacerlo.»

For because ye bare it not at the first, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not according to the ordinance.

14 L os sacerdotes y los levitas se santificaron para transportar el arca del Señor, el Dios de Israel.

So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

15 P or medio de las barras, los descendientes de los levitas llevaron el arca de Dios sobre sus hombros, conforme a la palabra del Señor y tal y como lo había ordenado Moisés.

And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Jehovah.

16 A demás, David les dijo a los jefes de los levitas que de entre sus parientes designaran cantores con instrumentos musicales, es decir, con salterios y arpas y címbalos, y que los tocaran y levantaran alegremente la voz.

And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

17 L os levitas designaron a Hemán hijo de Joel, y de sus parientes designaron a Asaf hijo de Berequías. De los descendientes de Merari y de sus parientes, designaron a Etán hijo de Cusaías.

So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

18 A demás de todos ellos, designaron como porteros a sus parientes del orden inmediato, es decir, a Zacarías, Jaziel, Semiramot, Yejiel, Uní, Eliab, Benaías, Maseías, Matatías, Elifelu, Micnías, Obed Edom y Yejiel.

and with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

19 H emán, Asaf y Etán, que eran cantores, tocaban címbalos de bronce.

So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed with cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

20 Z acarías, Aziel, Semiramot, Yejiel, Uní, Eliab, Maseías y Benaías, tocaban salterios sobre Alamot.

and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries set to Alamoth;

21 M atatías, Elifelu, Micnías, Obed Edom, Yeguiel y Azazías tenían arpas afinadas y fungían como directores.

and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps set to the Sheminith, to lead.

22 Q uenanías, que era jefe de los levitas, fue nombrado director de los cantos, pues sabía mucho de música.

And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

23 B erequías y Elcana vigilaban el arca.

And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

24 L os sacerdotes Sebanías, Josafat, Natanael, Amasay, Zacarías, Benaías y Eliezer tocaban las trompetas delante del arca de Dios. Obed Edom y Yejías estaban también a cargo de la vigilancia del arca.

And Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

25 C on gran alegría David y los ancianos de Israel y los capitanes de legiones fueron a trasladar el arca del pacto del Señor, de casa de Obed Edom.

So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.

26 D ios el Señor ayudó a los levitas a llevar el arca del pacto, y se sacrificaron siete novillos y siete carneros.

And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.

27 D avid iba vestido de lino fino, y además llevaba sobre sí un efod de lino. Todos los levitas que llevaban el arca, y los cantores, iban vestidos de lino. Entre los cantores, Quenanías era el maestro de canto.

And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: and David had upon him an ephod of linen.

28 F ue así como todo Israel transportó el arca del pacto del Señor, en medio de jubilosos sonidos de bocinas, trompetas y címbalos, y al son de salterios y arpas.

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with psalteries and harps.

29 M ical, la hija de Saúl, miraba por una ventana cuando el arca del pacto del Señor llegó a la ciudad de David, y al ver que el rey David saltaba y danzaba, sintió en su corazón mucho desprecio por él.

And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
