1 Y me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, come lo que has hallado. Cómete este pergamino, y ve luego y habla con el pueblo de Israel.»

And he said unto me, Son of man, eat that which thou findest; eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel.

2 Y o abrí la boca, y me hizo comer el pergamino,

So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the roll.

3 y me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, aliméntate, llena tus entrañas con este pergamino que te doy.» Yo lo comí, y su sabor en mi boca fue dulce como la miel.

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

4 E ntonces me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, ve a hablar con el pueblo de Israel, y repíteles mis palabras.

And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

5 N o estás siendo enviado a un pueblo de lenguaje profundo y difícil de entender, sino al pueblo de Israel.

For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel;

6 N o vas a muchos pueblos de lenguaje profundo y difícil de entender, cuyas palabras no entiendes. Y si te enviara yo a un pueblo así, ellos te prestarían atención;

not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, if I sent thee to them, they would hearken unto thee.

7 p ero el pueblo de Israel no va a querer escucharte, porque no quiere escucharme a mí, pues todo el pueblo de Israel es de cabeza dura y de corazón obstinado.

But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are of hard forehead and of a stiff heart.

8 S in embargo, yo he endurecido tu rostro como el rostro de ellos, y he hecho tu frente tan fuerte como la de ellos.

Behold, I have made thy face hard against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads.

9 T u frente es ahora dura como el diamante y más fuerte que el pedernal, así que no les tengas miedo, aunque sean un pueblo rebelde.»

As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

10 T ambién me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, escucha con atención y retén en tu mente todo lo que voy a decirte.

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thy heart, and hear with thine ears.

11 V e y habla con los cautivos, con tu propia gente. Habla con ellos, y ya sea que te hagan caso, o no, tú diles: “Así ha dicho el Señor.”»

And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

12 E ntonces el espíritu me levantó, y detrás de mí escuché una voz estruendosa que decía: «Bendita sea la gloria del Señor, que sale de su santuario.»

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place.

13 T ambién oí el aleteo de los seres vivientes al juntar su alas la una con la otra, y el sonido de las ruedas que les acompañaban, y un sonoro estruendo.

And I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, even the noise of a great rushing.

14 E n ese momento el espíritu me levantó y ya no me soltó. Mi espíritu se llenó de amargura e indignación, pero la mano del Señor prevaleció sobre mí.

So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

15 F ui entonces a reunirme con los cautivos que estaban en Tel Aviv, junto al río Quebar, y me quedé a vivir entre ellos, aunque durante siete días no supe qué hacer. Israel al cuidado de Ezequiel

Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and to where they dwelt; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.

16 P asados los siete días, la palabra del Señor vino a mí y me dijo:

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

17 « Hijo de hombre, yo he puesto al pueblo de Israel bajo tu cuidado. Así que tú oirás lo que yo te diga, y tú los amonestarás de mi parte.

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

18 S i yo le digo al impío: “Estás sentenciado a morir”, y tú no lo amonestas para que sepa que va por mal camino, ni le hablas para que pueda seguir con vida, el impío morirá por causa de su maldad, pero yo te pediré a ti cuentas de su sangre.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

19 P ero si tú amonestas al impío, y él no se aparta de su impiedad y mal camino, morirá por causa de su maldad, pero tú te habrás librado de morir.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

20 A hora bien, si el justo se aparta de su justicia y hace lo malo, y yo pongo delante de él un tropiezo, él morirá porque tú no lo amonestaste y por causa de su pecado, y yo no tomaré en cuenta todos sus actos de justicia, pero a ti te pediré cuentas de su sangre.

Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

21 P ero si amonestas al justo para que no peque, y éste no peca, ciertamente vivirá por haber sido amonestado, y tú te habrás librado de morir.» Ezequiel se queda mudo

Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul.

22 A llí mismo la mano del Señor vino sobre mí, y me dijo: «Levántate y ve al campo, que allí voy a hablar contigo.»

And the hand of Jehovah was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

23 Y o me levanté y me dirigí al campo, y vi que allí estaba la gloria del Señor, tal y como la había visto junto al río Quebar. Entonces me incliné sobre mi rostro,

Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

24 y el espíritu entró en mí y me hizo ponerme sobre mis pies; luego me habló y me dijo: «Entra en tu casa, y quédate allí, encerrado.

Then the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet; and he spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thy house.

25 T oma en cuenta, hijo de hombre, que te atarán con cuerdas, y que con ellas te sujetarán para que no puedas andar entre ellos.

But thou, son of man, behold, they shall lay bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

26 Y o haré que la lengua se te pegue al paladar, y te quedarás mudo, de modo que no podrás reprenderlos, aun cuando son un pueblo rebelde.

and I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house.

27 P ero cuando yo te hable, te abriré la boca, y tú les dirás: “Así ha dicho el Señor”. Y el que quiera oír, que oiga; y el que no quiera oír, que no oiga; porque son un pueblo rebelde.

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
