1 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

The word of Jehovah came also unto me, saying,

2 « En este lugar no te casarás con ninguna mujer, ni tendrás hijos ni hijas.

Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters, in this place.

3 Y o, el Señor, declaro acerca de los hijos y de las hijas que nazcan en este lugar, y de las madres que los den a luz, y de los padres que los engendren en esta tierra:

For thus saith Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land:

4 M orirán de dolorosas enfermedades. No se llorara su muerte, ni serán enterrados. Más bien, serán como estiércol en el suelo; serán consumidos por la espada y por el hambre, y sus cadáveres les servirán de alimento a las aves de rapiña y a los animales feroces.

They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung upon the face of the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth.

5 » Yo, el Señor, te ordeno que no vayas a ninguna casa donde haya un muerto, ni lamentes su muerte ni consueles a los deudos, porque mi paz, mi compasión y mi misericordia ya no están con este pueblo. —Palabra del Señor.

For thus saith Jehovah, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith Jehovah, even lovingkindness and tender mercies.

6 » Grandes y pequeños morirán en esta tierra sin que nadie los entierre ni los llore, ni se haga heridas ni se rape en señal de duelo.

Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them;

7 N adie compartirá el pan por los difuntos para consolar a los deudos, ni se brindará para consolar al padre o a la madre.

neither shall men break bread for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

8 P ero tampoco vayas a ninguna casa donde haya una fiesta, ni te sientes a comer y beber con los invitados.

And thou shalt not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.

9 Y o soy el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, y te hago saber que voy a acallar en este lugar toda voz de gozo y de alegría; ¡voy a silenciar la voz del novio y de la novia,, y ustedes mismos lo verán con sus propios ojos!

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

10 » Cuando anuncies a este pueblo todo esto, seguramente ellos te dirán: “¿Por qué nos anuncia el Señor tan grande mal contra nosotros? ¿Qué maldad hemos cometido? ¿Cuál es nuestro pecado contra el Señor nuestro Dios?”

And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God?

11 E ntonces les dirás de mi parte: “Los padres de ustedes me dejaron por ir en pos de dioses ajenos, y los sirvieron y se arrodillaron ante ellos; en cambio, a mí me abandonaron y no cumplieron mi ley. —Palabra del Señor.

Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

12 ” Y los hechos de ustedes son peores que los de sus padres, porque cada uno sigue los dictados de su malvado corazón, y a mí no me obedecen.

and ye have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that ye hearken not unto me:

13 P or eso voy a expulsarlos de esta tierra. Voy a lanzarlos a un país que ni ustedes ni sus padres conocieron. Allí servirán a dioses ajenos de día y de noche, porque yo no voy a tenerles compasión.”

therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that ye have not known, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor.

14 » Sin embargo, vienen días en que ya no se dirá: “¡Viva el Señor, que sacó de Egipto a los hijos de Israel!” —Palabra del Señor

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

15 » sino que se dirá: “¡Viva el Señor, que sacó a los hijos de Israel del país del norte, y de todos los países por donde los había dispersado!” Porque yo los haré volver a la tierra que antes di a sus padres.

but, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries whither he had driven them. And I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

16 » Tomen en cuenta que yo envío contra ustedes gente que los atrapará como pescados, y que los cazará por los montes y las colinas, y por las cuevas en los peñascos. —Palabra del Señor.

Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.

17 » Ninguno de sus caminos me es oculto, como tampoco me es oculta su maldad. Mis ojos los están vigilando.

For mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from mine eyes.

18 P ero antes les daré un doble castigo por su iniquidad y su pecado, porque contaminaron mi tierra con los cadáveres de sus ídolos; ¡llenaron mi heredad con sus dioses repugnantes!»

And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled mine inheritance with their abominations.

19 S eñor, tu eres mi fuerza y mi fortaleza; ¡tú eres mi refugio en momentos de angustia! Las naciones vendrán a ti desde los extremos de la tierra, y dirán: «Nuestros padres no tuvieron otra cosa que dioses falsos, que no sirven para nada.»

O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, even vanity and things wherein there is no profit.

20 « ¿Acaso puede el ser humano hacer sus propios dioses? ¡Esos que hace no son dioses!

Shall a man make unto himself gods, which yet are no gods?

21 P or eso, esta vez voy a enseñarles algo: Voy a revelarles mi mano y mi poder. Así sabrán que mi nombre es el Señor.»

Therefore, behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Jehovah.
