1 T he word which came unto Jeremiah from Jehovah in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías en días de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

2 G o unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of Jehovah, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.

Ve a casa de los recabitas y habla con ellos, e introdúcelos en la casa de Jehová, en uno de los aposentos, y dales a beber vino.

3 T hen I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

Tomé entonces a Jaazanías hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Habasinías, a sus hermanos, a todos sus hijos, y a toda la familia de los recabitas;

4 a nd I brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

y los llevé a la casa de Jehová, al aposento de los hijos de Hanán hijo de Igdalías, varón de Dios, el cual estaba junto al aposento de los príncipes, que estaba sobre el aposento de Maasías hijo de Salum, guarda de la puerta.

5 A nd I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.

Y puse delante de los hijos de la familia de los recabitas tazas y copas llenas de vino, y les dije: Bebed vino.

6 B ut they said, We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons, for ever:

Mas ellos dijeron: No beberemos vino; porque Jonadab hijo de Recab nuestro padre nos ordenó diciendo: No beberéis jamás vino vosotros ni vuestros hijos;

7 n either shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land wherein ye sojourn.

ni edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis sementera, ni plantaréis viña, ni la retendréis; sino que moraréis en tiendas todos vuestros días, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz de la tierra donde vosotros habitáis.

8 A nd we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, or our daughters;

Y nosotros hemos obedecido a la voz de nuestro padre Jonadab hijo de Recab en todas las cosas que nos mandó, de no beber vino en todos nuestros días, ni nosotros, ni nuestras mujeres, ni nuestros hijos ni nuestras hijas;

9 n or to build houses for us to dwell in; neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:

y de no edificar casas para nuestra morada, y de no tener viña, ni heredad, ni sementera.

10 b ut we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

Moramos, pues, en tiendas, y hemos obedecido y hecho conforme a todas las cosas que nos mandó Jonadab nuestro padre.

11 B ut it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we dwell at Jerusalem.

Sucedió, no obstante, que cuando Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia subió a la tierra, dijimos: Venid, y ocultémonos en Jerusalén, de la presencia del ejército de los caldeos y de la presencia del ejército de los de Siria; y en Jerusalén nos quedamos.

12 T hen came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,

Y vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

13 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith Jehovah.

Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Ve y di a los varones de Judá, y a los moradores de Jerusalén: ¿No aprenderéis a obedecer mis palabras? dice Jehová.

14 T he words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and unto this day they drink none, for they obey their father's commandment: but I have spoken unto you, rising up early and speaking; and ye have not hearkened unto me.

Fue firme la palabra de Jonadab hijo de Recab, el cual mandó a sus hijos que no bebiesen vino, y no lo han bebido hasta hoy, por obedecer al mandamiento de su padre; y yo os he hablado a vosotros desde temprano y sin cesar, y no me habéis oído.

15 I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.

Y envié a vosotros todos mis siervos los profetas, desde temprano y sin cesar, para deciros: Volveos ahora cada uno de vuestro mal camino, y enmendad vuestras obras, y no vayáis tras dioses ajenos para servirles, y viviréis en la tierra que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no inclinasteis vuestro oído, ni me oísteis.

16 F orasmuch as the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people hath not hearkened unto me;

Ciertamente los hijos de Jonadab hijo de Recab tuvieron por firme el mandamiento que les dio su padre; pero este pueblo no me ha obedecido.

17 t herefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.

Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí traeré yo sobre Judá y sobre todos los moradores de Jerusalén todo el mal que contra ellos he hablado; porque les hablé, y no oyeron; los llamé, y no han respondido.

18 A nd Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he commanded you;

Y dijo Jeremías a la familia de los recabitas: Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Por cuanto obedecisteis al mandamiento de Jonadab vuestro padre, y guardasteis todos sus mandamientos, e hicisteis conforme a todas las cosas que os mandó;

19 t herefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.

por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: No faltará de Jonadab hijo de Recab un varón que esté en mi presencia todos los días.
