1 A l tercer mes de la salida de los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto, ese mismo día, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí.

In the third month of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in this day they have come into the wilderness of Sinai,

2 P artieron de Refidim, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en el desierto; allí, delante del monte, acampó Israel.

and they journey from Rephidim, and enter the wilderness of Sinai, and encamp in the wilderness; and Israel encampeth there before the mount.

3 Y Moisés subió hacia Dios, y el Señor lo llamó desde el monte, diciendo: Así dirás a la casa de Jacob y anunciarás a los hijos de Israel:

And Moses hath gone up unto God, and Jehovah calleth unto him out of the mount, saying, `Thus dost thou say to the house of Jacob, and declare to the sons of Israel,

4 “ Vosotros habéis visto lo que he hecho a los egipcios, y cómo os he tomado sobre alas de águilas y os he traído a mí.

Ye -- ye have seen that which I have done to the Egyptians, and I bear you on eagles' wings, and bring you in unto Myself.

5 “ Ahora pues, si en verdad escucháis mi voz y guardáis mi pacto, seréis mi especial tesoro entre todos los pueblos, porque mía es toda la tierra;

`And now, if ye really hearken to My voice, then ye have kept My covenant, and been to Me a peculiar treasure more than all the peoples, for all the earth Mine;

6 y vosotros seréis para mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa.” Estas son las palabras que dirás a los hijos de Israel.

and ye -- ye are to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation: these the words which thou dost speak unto the sons of Israel.'

7 E ntonces Moisés fue y llamó a los ancianos del pueblo, y expuso delante de ellos todas estas palabras que el Señor le había mandado.

And Moses cometh, and calleth for the elders of the people, and setteth before them all these words which Jehovah hath commanded him;

8 Y todo el pueblo respondió a una, y dijeron: Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha dicho. Y llevó Moisés al Señor las palabras del pueblo.

and all the people answer together and say, `All that Jehovah hath spoken we do;' and Moses returneth the words of the people unto Jehovah.

9 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: He aquí, vendré a ti en una densa nube, para que el pueblo oiga cuando yo hable contigo y también te crean para siempre. Entonces Moisés comunicó al pueblo las palabras del Señor.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am coming unto thee in the thickness of the cloud, so that the people hear in My speaking with thee, and also believe in thee to the age;' and Moses declareth the words of the people unto Jehovah.

10 E l Señor dijo también a Moisés: Ve al pueblo y conságralos hoy y mañana, y que laven sus vestidos;

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go unto the people; and thou hast sanctified them to-day and to-morrow, and they have washed their garments,

11 y que estén preparados para el tercer día, porque al tercer día el Señor descenderá a la vista de todo el pueblo sobre el monte Sinaí.

and have been prepared for the third day; for on the third day doth Jehovah come down before the eyes of all the people, on mount Sinai.

12 Y pondrás límites alrededor para el pueblo, y dirás: “Guardaos de subir al monte o tocar su límite; cualquiera que toque el monte, ciertamente morirá.

`And thou hast made a border the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, going up into the mount, or coming against its extremity; whoever is coming against the mount is certainly put to death;

13 “ Ninguna mano lo tocará, sino que será apedreado o asaeteado; sea animal o sea hombre, no vivirá.” Cuando suene largamente la bocina ellos subirán al monte.

a hand cometh not against him, for he is certainly stoned or shot through, whether beast or man it liveth not; in the drawing out of the jubilee cornet they go up into the mount.'

14 Y Moisés bajó del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo; y ellos lavaron sus vestidos.

And Moses cometh down from the mount unto the people, and sanctifieth the people, and they wash their garments;

15 Y dijo al pueblo: Estad preparados para el tercer día; no os acerquéis a mujer. La majestuosa presencia del Señor

and he saith unto the people, `Be ye prepared for the third day, come not nigh unto a woman.'

16 Y aconteció que al tercer día, cuando llegó la mañana, hubo truenos y relámpagos y una densa nube sobre el monte y un fuerte sonido de trompeta; y tembló todo el pueblo que estaba en el campamento.

And it cometh to pass, on the third day, while it is morning, that there are voices, and lightnings, and a heavy cloud, on the mount, and the sound of a trumpet very strong; and all the people who in the camp do tremble.

17 E ntonces Moisés sacó al pueblo del campamento para ir al encuentro de Dios, y ellos se quedaron al pie del monte.

And Moses bringeth out the people to meet God from the camp, and they station themselves at the lower part of the mount,

18 Y todo el monte Sinaí humeaba, porque el Señor había descendido sobre él en fuego; el humo subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremecía con violencia.

and mount Sinai wholly a smoke from the presence of Jehovah, who hath come down on it in fire, and its smoke goeth up as smoke of the furnace, and the whole mount trembleth exceedingly;

19 E l sonido de la trompeta aumentaba más y más; Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía con el trueno.

and the sound of the trumpet is going on, and very strong; Moses speaketh, and God doth answer him with a voice.

20 Y el Señor descendió al monte Sinaí, a la cumbre del monte; y llamó el Señor a Moisés a la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió.

And Jehovah cometh down on mount Sinai, unto the top of the mount, and Jehovah calleth for Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses goeth up.

21 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Desciende, advierte al pueblo, no sea que traspasen los límites para ver al Señor y perezcan muchos de ellos.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go down, protest to the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to see, and many of them have fallen;

22 T ambién que se santifiquen los sacerdotes que se acercan al Señor, no sea que el Señor irrumpa contra ellos.

and also the priests who are coming nigh unto Jehovah do sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.'

23 Y Moisés dijo al Señor: El pueblo no puede subir al monte Sinaí, porque tú nos advertiste, diciendo: “Pon límites alrededor del monte y santifícalo.”

And Moses saith unto Jehovah, `The people unable to come up unto mount Sinai, for Thou -- Thou hast protested to us, saying, Make a border the mount, then thou hast sanctified it.'

24 E ntonces el Señor le dijo: Ve, desciende, y vuelve a subir, tú y Aarón contigo; pero que los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen los límites para subir al Señor, no sea que El irrumpa contra ellos.

And Jehovah saith unto him, `Go, descend, then thou hast come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; and the priests and the people do not break through, to come up unto Jehovah, lest He break forth upon them.'

25 D escendió, pues, Moisés y advirtió al pueblo.

And Moses goeth down unto the people, and saith unto them: --
