1 A conteció que después de estas cosas, Dios probó a Abraham, y le dijo: ¡Abraham! Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

And it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

2 Y Dios dijo: Toma ahora a tu hijo, tu único, a quien amas, a Isaac, y ve a la tierra de Moriah, y ofrécelo allí en holocausto sobre uno de los montes que yo te diré.

And He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

3 A braham se levantó muy de mañana, aparejó su asno y tomó con él a dos de sus mozos y a su hijo Isaac; y partió leña para el holocausto, y se levantó y fue al lugar que Dios le había dicho.

And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

4 A l tercer día alzó Abraham los ojos y vio el lugar de lejos.

On the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

5 E ntonces Abraham dijo a sus mozos: Quedaos aquí con el asno; yo y el muchacho iremos hasta allá, adoraremos y volveremos a vosotros.

and Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

6 T omó Abraham la leña del holocausto y la puso sobre Isaac su hijo, y tomó en su mano el fuego y el cuchillo. Y los dos iban juntos.

And Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

7 Y habló Isaac a su padre Abraham, y le dijo: Padre mío. Y él respondió: Heme aquí, hijo mío. Y dijo Isaac: Aquí están el fuego y la leña, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto ?

And Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

8 Y Abraham respondió: Dios proveerá para sí el cordero para el holocausto, hijo mío. Y los dos iban juntos.

and Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

9 L legaron al lugar que Dios le había dicho y Abraham edificó allí el altar, arregló la leña, ató a su hijo Isaac y lo puso en el altar sobre la leña.

And they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

10 E ntonces Abraham extendió su mano y tomó el cuchillo para sacrificar a su hijo.

and Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

11 M as el ángel del Señor lo llamó desde el cielo y dijo: ¡Abraham, Abraham! Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

12 Y el ángel dijo: No extiendas tu mano contra el muchacho, ni le hagas nada; porque ahora sé que temes a Dios, ya que no me has rehusado tu hijo, tu único.

and He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

13 E ntonces Abraham alzó los ojos y miró, y he aquí, vio un carnero detrás de él trabado por los cuernos en un matorral; y Abraham fue, tomó el carnero y lo ofreció en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.

And Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

14 Y llamó Abraham aquel lugar con el nombre de El Señor Proveerá, como se dice hasta hoy: En el monte del Señor se proveerá.

and Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

15 E l ángel del Señor llamó a Abraham por segunda vez desde el cielo,

And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

16 y dijo: Por mí mismo he jurado, declara el Señor, que por cuanto has hecho esto y no me has rehusado tu hijo, tu único,

and saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

17 d e cierto te bendeciré grandemente, y multiplicaré en gran manera tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena en la orilla del mar, y tu descendencia poseerá la puerta de sus enemigos.

that blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

18 Y en tu simiente serán bendecidas todas las naciones de la tierra, porque tú has obedecido mi voz.

and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

19 E ntonces Abraham volvió a sus mozos, y se levantaron y fueron juntos a Beerseba. Y habitó Abraham en Beerseba. La familia de Rebeca

And Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

20 Y aconteció después de estas cosas, que le dieron noticia a Abraham, diciendo: He aquí que Milca también le ha dado a luz hijos a tu hermano Nacor:

And it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

21 U z su primogénito, Buz su hermano, y Kemuel, padre de Aram,

Huz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

22 Q uesed, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlaf y Betuel.

and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

23 Y Betuel engendró a Rebeca. Estos ocho hijos dio a luz Milca a Nacor, hermano de Abraham.

and Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

24 T ambién su concubina, de nombre Reúma, dio a luz a Teba, a Gaham, a Tahas y a Maaca.

and his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.
