1 Y el Señor se le apareció en el encinar de Mamre, mientras él estaba sentado a la puerta de la tienda en el calor del día.

And Jehovah appeareth unto him among the oaks of Mamre, and he is sitting at the opening of the tent, about the heat of the day;

2 C uando alzó los ojos y miró, he aquí, tres hombres estaban parados frente a él; y al ver los corrió de la puerta de la tienda a recibirlos, y se postró en tierra,

and he lifteth up his eyes and looketh, and lo, three men standing by him, and he seeth, and runneth to meet them from the opening of the tent, and boweth himself towards the earth,

3 y dijo: Señor mío, si ahora he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, te ruego que no pases de largo junto a tu siervo.

And he saith, `My Lord, if, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, do not, I pray thee, pass on from thy servant;

4 Q ue se traiga ahora un poco de agua y lavaos los pies, y reposad bajo el árbol;

let, I pray thee, a little water be accepted, and wash your feet, and recline under the tree;

5 y yo traeré un pedazo de pan para que os alimentéis, y después sigáis adelante, puesto que habéis visitado a vuestro siervo. Y ellos dijeron: Haz así como has dicho.

and I bring a piece of bread, and support ye your heart; afterwards pass on, for therefore have ye passed over unto your servant;' and they say, `So mayest thou do as thou has spoken.'

6 E ntonces Abraham fue de prisa a la tienda donde estaba Sara, y dijo: Apresúrate a preparar tres medidas de flor de harina, amása la y haz tortas de pan.

And Abraham hasteth towards the tent, unto Sarah, and saith, `Hasten three measures of flour-meal, knead, and make cakes;'

7 C orrió también Abraham a la vacada y tomó un becerro tierno y bueno, y se lo dio al criado, que se apresuró a prepararlo.

and Abraham ran unto the herd, and taketh a son of the herd, tender and good, and giveth unto the young man, and he hasteth to prepare it;

8 T omó también cuajada y leche y el becerro que había preparado, y lo puso delante de ellos; y él se quedó de pie junto a ellos bajo el árbol mientras comían.

and he taketh butter and milk, and the son of the herd which he hath prepared, and setteth before them; and he is standing by them under the tree, and they do eat.

9 E ntonces ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde está Sara tu mujer? Y él respondió: Allí en la tienda.

And they say unto him, `Where Sarah thy wife?' and he saith, `Lo -- in the tent;'

10 Y aquél dijo: Ciertamente volveré a ti por este tiempo el año próximo; y he aquí, Sara tu mujer tendrá un hijo. Y Sara estaba escuchando a la puerta de la tienda que estaba detrás de él.

and he saith, `returning I return unto thee, about the time of life, and lo, to Sarah thy wife a son.'

11 A braham y Sara eran ancianos, entrados en años; y a Sara le había cesado ya la costumbre de las mujeres.

And Sarah is hearkening at the opening of the tent, which is behind him;

12 Y Sara se rió para sus adentros, diciendo: ¿Tendré placer después de haber envejecido, siendo también viejo mi señor ?

and Abraham and Sarah aged, entering into days -- the way of women hath ceased to be to Sarah;

13 Y el Señor dijo a Abraham: ¿Por qué se rió Sara, diciendo: “¿Concebiré en verdad siendo yo tan vieja?”

and Sarah laugheth in her heart, saying, `After I have waxed old I have had pleasure! -- my lord also old!'

14 ¿ Hay algo demasiado difícil para el Señor ? Volveré a ti al tiempo señalado, por este tiempo el año próximo, y Sara tendrá un hijo.

And Jehovah saith unto Abraham, `Why this? Sarah hath laughed, saying, Is it true really -- I bear -- and I am aged? Is any thing too wonderful for Jehovah? at the appointed time I return unto thee, about the time of life, and Sarah hath a son.'

15 P ero Sara lo negó, porque tuvo miedo, diciendo: No me reí. Y El dijo: No es así, sino que te has reído. Abraham intercede por Sodoma y Gomorra

And Sarah denieth, saying, `I did not laugh;' for she hath been afraid; and He saith, `Nay, but thou didst laugh.'

16 E ntonces los hombres se levantaron de allí, y miraron hacia Sodoma; y Abraham iba con ellos para despedirlos.

And the men rise from thence, and look on the face of Sodom, and Abraham is going with them to send them away;

17 Y el Señor dijo: ¿Ocultaré a Abraham lo que voy a hacer,

and Jehovah said, `Am I concealing from Abraham that which I am doing,

18 p uesto que ciertamente Abraham llegará a ser una nación grande y poderosa, y en él serán benditas todas las naciones de la tierra ?

and Abraham certainly becometh a nation great and mighty, and blessed in him have been all nations of the earth?

19 P orque yo lo he escogido para que mande a sus hijos y a su casa después de él que guarden el camino del Señor, haciendo justicia y juicio, para que el Señor cumpla en Abraham todo lo que El ha dicho acerca de él.

for I have known him, that he commandeth his children, and his house after him (and they have kept the way of Jehovah), to do righteousness and judgment, that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He hath spoken concerning him.'

20 Y el Señor dijo: El clamor de Sodoma y Gomorra ciertamente es grande, y su pecado es sumamente grave.

And Jehovah saith, `The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah -- because great; and their sin -- because exceeding grievous:

21 D escenderé ahora y veré si han hecho en todo conforme a su clamor, el cual ha llegado hasta mí; y si no, lo sabré.

I go down now, and see whether according to its cry which is coming unto Me they have done completely -- and if not -- I know;'

22 Y se apartaron de allí los hombres y fueron hacia Sodoma, mientras Abraham estaba todavía de pie delante del Señor.

and the men turn from thence, and go towards Sodom; and Abraham is yet standing before Jehovah.

23 Y Abraham se acercó, y dijo: ¿En verdad destruirás al justo junto con el impío ?

And Abraham draweth nigh and saith, `Dost Thou also consume righteous with wicked?

24 T al vez haya cincuenta justos dentro de la ciudad; ¿en verdad la destruirás y no perdonarás el lugar por amor a los cincuenta justos que hay en ella?

peradventure there are fifty righteous in the midst of the city; dost Thou also consume, and not bear with the place for the sake of the fifty -- the righteous who in its midst?

25 L ejos de ti hacer tal cosa: matar al justo con el impío, de modo que el justo y el impío sean tratados de la misma manera. ¡Lejos de ti! El Juez de toda la tierra, ¿no hará justicia ?

Far be it from Thee to do according to this thing, to put to death the righteous with the wicked; that it hath been -- as the righteous so the wicked -- far be it from Thee; doth the Judge of all the earth not do justice?'

26 E ntonces el Señor dijo: Si hallo en Sodoma cincuenta justos dentro de la ciudad, perdonaré a todo el lugar por consideración a ellos.

And Jehovah saith, `If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then have I borne with all the place for their sake.'

27 Y Abraham respondió, y dijo: He aquí, ahora me he atrevido a hablar al Señor, yo que soy polvo y ceniza.

And Abraham answereth and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord, and I -- dust and ashes;

28 T al vez falten cinco para los cincuenta justos, ¿destruirás por los cinco a toda la ciudad? Y El respondió: No la destruiré si hallo allí cuarenta y cinco.

peradventure there are lacking five of the fifty righteous -- dost Thou destroy for five the whole of the city?' and He saith, `I destroy not, if I find there forty and five.'

29 A braham le habló de nuevo, y dijo: Tal vez se hallen allí cuarenta. Y El respondió: No lo haré, por consideración a los cuarenta.

And he addeth again to speak unto Him and saith, `Peradventure there are found there forty?' and He saith, `I do not, because of the forty.'

30 E ntonces Abraham dijo: No se enoje ahora el Señor, y hablaré; tal vez se hallen allí treinta. Y El respondió: No lo haré si hallo allí treinta.

And he saith, `Let it not be, I Pray thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak: peradventure there are found there thirty?' and He saith, `I do not, if I find there thirty.'

31 Y Abraham dijo: He aquí, ahora me he atrevido a hablar al Señor; tal vez se hallen allí veinte. Y El respondió: No la destruiré por consideración a los veinte.

And he saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there are found there twenty?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the twenty.'

32 E ntonces dijo Abraham: No se enoje ahora el Señor, y hablaré sólo esta vez; tal vez se hallen allí diez. Y El respondió: No la destruiré por consideración a los diez.

And he saith, `Let it not be, I pray Thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak only this time: peradventure there are found there ten?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the ten.'

33 Y el Señor se fue tan pronto como acabó de hablar con Abraham; y Abraham volvió a su lugar.

And Jehovah goeth on, when He hath finished speaking unto Abraham, and Abraham hath turned back to his place.
