1 D espués de algún tiempo, en los días de la siega del trigo, sucedió que Sansón visitó a su mujer con un cabrito, y dijo: Llegaré a mi mujer en su recámara. Pero el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.

And it cometh to pass, after days, in the days of wheat-harvest, that Samson looketh after his wife, with a kid of the goats, and saith, `I go in unto my wife, to the inner chamber;' and her father hath not permitted him to go in,

2 Y el padre dijo: Realmente pensé que la odiabas intensamente y se la di a tu compañero. ¿No es su hermana menor más hermosa que ella? Te ruego que la tomes en su lugar.

and her father saith, I certainly said, that thou didst certainly hate her, and I give her to thy companion; is not her sister -- the young one -- better than she? Let her be, I pray thee, to thee, instead of her.'

3 E ntonces Sansón le respondió: Esta vez no tendré culpa en cuanto a los filisteos cuando les haga daño.

And Samson saith of them, `I am more innocent this time than the Philistines, though I am doing with them evil.'

4 Y Sansón fue y capturó trescientas zorras, tomó antorchas, juntó las zorras cola con cola y puso una antorcha en medio de cada dos colas.

And Samson goeth and catcheth three hundred foxes, and taketh torches, and turneth tail unto tail, and putteth a torch between the two tails, in the midst,

5 D espués de prender fuego a las antorchas, soltó las zorras en los sembrados de los filisteos, quemando la mies recogida, la mies en pie, y además las viñas y los olivares.

and kindleth fire in the torches, and sendeth out into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burneth from heap even unto standing corn, even unto vineyard -- olive-yard.

6 E ntonces los filisteos dijeron: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y les respondieron: Sansón, el yerno del timnateo, porque éste tomó a su mujer y se la dio a su compañero. Y los filisteos vinieron y la quemaron a ella y a su padre.

And the Philistines say, `Who hath done this?' And they say, `Samson, son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken away his wife, and giveth her to his companion;' and the Philistines go up, and burn her and her father with fire.

7 Y Sansón les dijo: Ya que actuáis así, ciertamente me vengaré de vosotros, y después de eso, cesaré.

And Samson saith to them, `Though ye do thus, nevertheless I am avenged on you, and afterwards I cease!'

8 Y sin piedad los hirió con gran mortandad; y descendió y habitó en la hendidura de la peña de Etam. La quijada de asno

And he smiteth them hip and thigh -- a great smiting, and goeth down and dwelleth in the cleft of the rock Etam.

9 S ubieron los filisteos y acamparon en Judá, y se esparcieron por Lehi.

And the Philistines go up, and encamp in Judah, and are spread out in Lehi,

10 Y los hombres de Judá dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos dijeron: Hemos subido para prender a Sansón a fin de hacerle como él nos ha hecho.

and the men of Judah say, `Why have ye come up against us?' and they say, `To bind Samson we have come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.'

11 T res mil hombres de Judá descendieron a la hendidura de la peña de Etam, y dijeron a Sansón: ¿No sabes que los filisteos reinan sobre nosotros ? ¿Qué, pues, es esto que nos has hecho? Y él les dijo: Como ellos me hicieron, así les he hecho.

And three thousand men of Judah go down unto the cleft of the rock Etam, and say to Samson, `Hast thou now known that the Philistines are rulers over us? and what this thou hast done to us?' And he saith to them, `As they did to me, so I did to them.'

12 Y ellos le dijeron: Hemos descendido para prenderte y entregarte en manos de los filisteos. Y Sansón les dijo: Juradme que no me mataréis.

And they say to him, `To bind thee we have come down -- to give thee into the hand of the Philistines.' And Samson saith to them, `Swear to me, lest ye fall upon me yourselves.'

13 E llos le respondieron: No, sino que te ataremos bien y te entregaremos en sus manos; ciertamente no te mataremos. Entonces lo ataron con dos sogas nuevas y lo sacaron de la peña.

And they speak to him, saying, No, but we certainly bind thee, and have given thee into their hand, and we certainly do not put thee to death;' and they bind him with two thick bands, new ones, and bring him up from the rock.

14 A l llegar él a Lehi, los filisteos salieron a su encuentro gritando. Y el Espíritu del Señor vino sobre él con poder, y las sogas que estaban en sus brazos fueron como lino quemado con fuego y las ataduras cayeron de sus manos.

He hath come unto Lehi -- and the Philistines have shouted at meeting him -- and the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and the thick bands which on his arms are as flax which they burn with fire, and his bands are wasted from off his hands,

15 Y halló una quijada de asno fresca aún, y extendiendo su mano, la tomó y mató a mil hombres con ella.

and he findeth a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and putteth forth his hand and taketh it, and smiteth with it -- a thousand men.

16 E ntonces Sansón dijo: Con la quijada de un asno, montones sobre montones, con la quijada de un asno he matado a mil hombres.

And Samson saith, `With a jaw-bone of the ass -- an ass upon asses -- with a jaw-bone of the ass I have smitten a thousand men.'

17 Y al terminar de hablar, arrojó la quijada de su mano, y llamó a aquel lugar Ramat-lehi.

And it cometh to pass when he finisheth speaking, that he casteth away the jaw-bone out of his hand, and calleth that place Ramath-Lehi;

18 D espués sintió una gran sed, y clamando al Señor, dijo: Tú has dado esta gran liberación por mano de tu siervo, y ahora, ¿moriré yo de sed y caeré en manos de los incircuncisos?

and he thirsteth exceedingly, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Thou -- Thou hast given by the hand of Thy servant this great salvation; and now, I die with thirst, and have fallen into the hand of the uncircumcised.'

19 Y abrió Dios la cuenca que está en Lehi y salió agua de ella. Cuando bebió, recobró sus fuerzas y se reanimó. Por eso llamó a aquel lugar En-hacore, el cual está en Lehi hasta el día de hoy.

And God cleaveth the hollow place which in Lehi, and waters come out of it, and he drinketh, and his spirit cometh back, and he reviveth; therefore hath called its name `The fountain of him who is calling,' which in Lehi unto this day.

20 S ansón juzgó a Israel veinte años en los días de los filisteos.

And he judgeth Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
