1 C uando el reino de Roboam se había afianzado y fortalecido, él abandonó la ley del Señor y todo Israel con él.

And it cometh to pass, at the establishing of the kingdom of Rehoboam, and at his strengthening himself, he hath forsaken the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

2 Y sucedió que en el año quinto del rey Roboam, debido a que ellos habían sido infieles al Señor, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén

And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, come up hath Shishak king of Egypt against Jerusalem -- because they trespassed against Jehovah --

3 c on mil doscientos carros y sesenta mil hombres de a caballo. Y era innumerable el pueblo que vino con él de Egipto: libios, suquienos y etíopes.

with a thousand and two hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen, and there is no number to the people who have come with him out of Egypt -- Lubim, Sukkiim, and Cushim --

4 Y tomó las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó hasta Jerusalén.

and he captureth the cities of the bulwarks that to Judah, and cometh in unto Jerusalem.

5 E ntonces el profeta Semaías vino a Roboam y a los príncipes de Judá que se habían reunido en Jerusalén por causa de Sisac, y les dijo: Así dice el Señor: “Vosotros me habéis abandonado, por eso también yo os abandono en manos de Sisac.”

And Shemaiah the prophet hath come in unto Rehoboam and the heads of Judah who have been gathered unto Jerusalem from the presence of Shishak, and saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye have forsaken Me, and also, I have left you in the hand of Shishak;'

6 Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: Justo es el Señor.

and the heads of Israel are humbled, and the king, and they say, `Righteous Jehovah.'

7 C uando el Señor vio que se habían humillado, vino la palabra del Señor a Semaías, diciendo: Se han humillado; no los destruiré, sino que les concederé cierta libertad y mi furor no se derramará sobre Jerusalén por medio de Sisac.

And when Jehovah seeth that they have been humbled, a word of Jehovah hath been unto Shemaiah, saying, `They have been humbled; I do not destroy them, and I have given to them as a little thing for an escape, and I pour not out My fury in Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak;

8 P ero serán sus siervos para que aprendan la diferencia entre servirme a mí y servir a los reinos de los países.

but they become servants to him, and they know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.'

9 S ubió, pues, Sisac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén y tomó los tesoros de la casa del Señor y los tesoros del palacio del rey. De todo se apoderó, tomó hasta los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.

And Shishak king of Egypt cometh up against Jerusalem, and taketh the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king -- the whole he hath taken -- and he taketh the shields of gold that Solomon had made;

10 E ntonces el rey Roboam hizo en su lugar escudos de bronce, y los entregó al cuidado de los jefes de la guardia que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.

and king Rehoboam maketh in their stead shields of brass, and hath given a charge on the hand of the heads of the runners who are keeping the opening of the house of the king;

11 Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del Señor, venían los de la guardia y los llevaban, y después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.

and it cometh to pass, from the time of the going in of the king to the house of Jehovah, the runners have come in and lifted them up, and brought them back unto the chamber of the runners.

12 C uando él se humilló, la ira del Señor se apartó de él para no destruir lo totalmente; además las cosas mejoraron en Judá.

And in his being humbled, turned back from him hath the wrath of Jehovah, so as not to destroy to completion; and also, in Judah there have been good things.

13 S e fortaleció, pues, el rey Roboam en Jerusalén, y reinó. Y Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. Y el nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita.

And king Rehoboam strengtheneth himself in Jerusalem, and reigneth; for a son of forty and two years Rehoboam in his reigning, and seventeen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah hath chosen to put His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and the name of his mother Naamah the Ammonitess,

14 Y él hizo lo malo porque no dispuso su corazón para buscar al Señor.

and he doth the evil thing, for he hath not prepared his heart to seek Jehovah.

15 L os hechos de Roboam, los primeros y los postreros, ¿no están escritos en los libros del profeta Semaías y del vidente Iddo, conforme al registro genealógico? Y hubo guerras continuamente entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

And the matters of Rehoboam, the first and the last, are they not written among the matters of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, concerning genealogy? And the wars of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days;

16 Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Abías reinó en su lugar.

and Rehoboam lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David, and reign doth Abijah his son in his stead.
