1 E ntonces todas las tribus de Israel fueron a David, en Hebrón, y dijeron: Henos aquí, hueso tuyo y carne tuya somos.

And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, `Lo, we thy bone and thy flesh;

2 Y a de antes, cuando Saúl aún era rey sobre nosotros, eras tú el que guiabas a Israel en sus salidas y entradas. Y el Señor te dijo: “Tú pastorearás a mi pueblo Israel, y serás príncipe sobre Israel.”

also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3 V inieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y el rey David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante del Señor; luego ungieron a David como rey sobre Israel.

And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 T reinta años tenía David cuando llegó a ser rey, y reinó cuarenta años.

A son of thirty years David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5 E n Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses, y en Jerusalén reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá.

in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 Y el rey y sus hombres fueron a Jerusalén contra los jebuseos, los habitantes de la tierra, y éstos dijeron a David: No entrarás aquí; aun los ciegos y los cojos te rechazarán; pues pensaban: David no puede entrar aquí.

And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, `Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, `David doth not come in hither.'

7 N o obstante, David conquistó la fortaleza de Sion, es decir, la ciudad de David.

And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it the city of David.

8 Y dijo David aquel día: Todo el que quiera herir a los jebuseos, que suba por el túnel del agua y llegue a los cojos y a los ciegos, a los cuales el alma de David aborrece. Por eso se dice: Ni los ciegos ni los cojos entrarán en la casa.

And David saith on that day, `Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind -- the hated of David's soul,' -- because the blind and lame say, `He doth not come into the house.'

9 D avid habitó en la fortaleza, y la llamó la ciudad de David. Y edificó David la muralla en derredor desde el Milo hacia adentro.

And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it -- City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10 D avid se engrandecía cada vez más, porque el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, estaba con él.

and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, with him.

11 Y envió Hiram, rey de Tiro, mensajeros a David con madera de cedros, carpinteros y canteros, y construyeron una casa para David.

And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 Y comprendió David que el Señor lo había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había exaltado su reino por amor a su pueblo Israel.

and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 D espués que vino de Hebrón, David tomó más concubinas y mujeres de Jerusalén; y le nacieron a David más hijos e hijas.

And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14 E stos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 I bhar, Elisúa, Nefeg, Jafía,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 E lisama, Eliada y Elifelet.

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 A l oír los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre Israel, todos los filisteos subieron a buscar a David; y cuando David se enteró, bajó a la fortaleza;

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18 y los filisteos llegaron y se esparcieron por el valle de Refaim.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 D avid consultó al Señor, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el Señor dijo a David: Sube, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tu mano.

And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, `Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20 D avid fue a Baal-perazim, y allí los derrotó; y dijo: El Señor ha abierto brecha entre mis enemigos delante de mí, como brecha de aguas. Por eso llamó a aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, `Jehovah hath broken forth mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21 Y ellos abandonaron allí sus ídolos, y David y sus hombres se los llevaron.

And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22 D espués los filisteos subieron de nuevo, y se esparcieron por el valle de Refaim.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23 C uando David consultó al Señor, El dijo: No subas directamente; da un rodeo por detrás de ellos y sal a ellos frente a las balsameras.

and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, `Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24 Y cuando oigas el sonido de marcha en las copas de las balsameras, entonces actuarás rápidamente, porque entonces el Señor habrá salido delante de ti para herir al ejército de los filisteos.

and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25 D avid lo hizo así, tal como el Señor le había ordenado, e hirió a los filisteos desde Geba hasta Gezer.

And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.
