1 P artieron de Elim, y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel llegó al desierto de Sin, que está entre Elim y Sinaí, el día quince del segundo mes después de su salida de la tierra de Egipto.

And they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

2 Y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y contra Aarón en el desierto.

And all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

3 Y los hijos de Israel les decían: Ojalá hubiéramos muerto a manos del Señor en la tierra de Egipto cuando nos sentábamos junto a las ollas de carne, cuando comíamos pan hasta saciarnos; pues nos habéis traído a este desierto para matar de hambre a toda esta multitud.

and the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

4 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: He aquí, haré llover pan del cielo para vosotros; y el pueblo saldrá y recogerá diariamente la porción de cada día, para ponerlos a prueba si andan o no en mi ley.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

5 Y sucederá que en el sexto día, cuando preparen lo que traigan, la porción será el doble de lo que recogen diariamente.

and it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

6 E ntonces Moisés y Aarón dijeron a todos los hijos de Israel: A la tarde sabréis que el Señor os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto;

And Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

7 y por la mañana veréis la gloria del Señor, pues El ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra el Señor; ¿y qué somos nosotros para que murmuréis contra nosotros ?

and morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

8 Y Moisés dijo: Esto sucederá cuando el Señor os dé carne para comer por la tarde, y pan hasta saciar os por la mañana; porque el Señor ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra El. Pues ¿qué somos nosotros? Vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra el Señor.

And Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

9 Y Moisés dijo a Aarón: Di a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: “Acercaos a la presencia del Señor, porque El ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.”

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

10 Y sucedió que mientras Aarón hablaba a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto y, he aquí, la gloria del Señor se apareció en la nube.

and it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

11 Y habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

12 H e oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel. Háblales, diciendo: “Al caer la tarde comeréis carne, y por la mañana os saciaréis de pan; y sabréis que yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios.” Las codornices y el maná

`I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

13 Y sucedió que por la tarde subieron las codornices y cubrieron el campamento, y por la mañana había una capa de rocío alrededor del campamento.

And it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

14 C uando la capa de rocío se evaporó, he aquí, sobre la superficie del desierto había una cosa delgada, como copos, menuda, como la escarcha sobre la tierra.

and the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

15 A l ver la, los hijos de Israel se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Qué es esto?, porque no sabían lo que era. Y Moisés les dijo: Es el pan que el Señor os da para comer.

And the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

16 E sto es lo que el Señor ha mandado: “Cada uno recoja de él lo que vaya a comer; tomaréis un gomer por cabeza, conforme al número de personas que cada uno de vosotros tiene en su tienda.”

`This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

17 Y así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel, y unos recogieron mucho y otros poco.

And the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

18 C uando lo midieron con el gomer, al que había recogido mucho no le sobró, ni le faltó al que había recogido poco; cada uno había recogido lo que iba a comer.

and they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

19 Y Moisés les dijo: Que nadie deje nada para la mañana siguiente.

And Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

20 M as no obedecieron a Moisés, y algunos dejaron parte del maná para la mañana siguiente, pero crió gusanos y se pudrió; y Moisés se enojó con ellos.

and they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

21 L o recogían cada mañana, cada uno lo que iba a comer; pero cuando el sol calentaba, se derretía.

And they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

22 Y sucedió que en el sexto día recogieron doble porción de alimento, dos gomeres para cada uno. Y cuando todos los jefes de la congregación vinieron y se lo hicieron saber a Moisés,

And it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

23 é l les respondió: Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: “Mañana es día de reposo, día de reposo consagrado al Señor. Coced lo que habéis de cocer y hervid lo que habéis de hervir, y todo lo que sobre guardad lo para mañana.”

And he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

24 Y lo guardaron hasta la mañana como Moisés había mandado, y no se pudrió ni hubo en él gusano alguno.

And they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

25 Y Moisés dijo: Comedlo hoy, porque hoy es día de reposo para el Señor; hoy no lo hallaréis en el campo.

And Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

26 S eis días lo recogeréis, pero el séptimo día, día de reposo, no habrá nada.

six days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

27 Y sucedió que el séptimo día, algunos del pueblo salieron a recoger, pero no encontraron nada.

And it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

28 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo os negaréis a guardar mis mandamientos y mis leyes ?

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

29 M irad que el Señor os ha dado el día de reposo; por eso el sexto día os da pan para dos días. Quédese cada uno en su lugar, y que nadie salga de su lugar el séptimo día.

see, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

30 Y el pueblo reposó el séptimo día.

And the people rest on the seventh day,

31 Y la casa de Israel le puso el nombre de maná, y era como la semilla del cilantro, blanco, y su sabor era como de hojuelas con miel.

and the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

32 Y Moisés dijo: Esto es lo que el Señor ha mandado: “Que se guarde un gomer lleno de maná para vuestras generaciones, para que vean el pan que yo os di de comer en el desierto cuando os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.”

And Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

33 E ntonces dijo Moisés a Aarón: Toma una vasija y pon en ella un gomer lleno de maná, y colócalo delante del Señor a fin de guardarlo para vuestras generaciones.

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

34 T al como el Señor ordenó a Moisés, así lo colocó Aarón delante del Testimonio para que fuera guardado.

as Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

35 Y los hijos de Israel comieron el maná cuarenta años, hasta que llegaron a tierra habitada; comieron el maná hasta que llegaron a los límites de la tierra de Canaán.

And the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

36 U n gomer es la décima parte de un efa.

and the omer is a tenth of the ephah.
