1 ¶ Then Darius, the king, gave a commandment, and a search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

Entonces el rey Darío proclamó un decreto, y buscaron en los archivos donde se guardaban los tesoros allí en Babilonia.

2 A nd there was found in the coffer of the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

Y en Acmeta, en la fortaleza que está en la provincia de Media, hallaron un rollo en el que estaba escrito lo siguiente: Memorándum:

3 I n the first year of Cyrus, the king, the same Cyrus, the king, gave a commandment concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, that the house be built as a place for sacrifices to be offered, and let the walls thereof be covered; the height thereof sixty cubits, and the breadth thereof sixty cubits;

En el año primero del rey Ciro, el rey Ciro proclamó un decreto: “ En cuanto a la casa de Dios en Jerusalén, que sea reedificado el templo, el lugar donde se ofrecen los sacrificios, y que se conserven sus cimientos, con su altura de sesenta codos y su anchura de sesenta codos;

4 t he orders, three of stones of marble and one order of new timber and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house.

con tres hileras de piedras enormes y una hilera de madera; y que los gastos se paguen del tesoro real.

5 A nd also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which was at Jerusalem and brought unto Babylon, be restored and go again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, to his place, and let them be placed in the house of God.

“Y que también se devuelvan los utensilios de oro y de plata de la casa de Dios, los cuales Nabucodonosor sacó del templo en Jerusalén y trajo a Babilonia, y que se lleven a sus lugares en el templo en Jerusalén y sean colocados en la casa de Dios.”

6 N ow therefore, Tatnai, captain of the other side of the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions, the Apharsachites, who are on the other side of the river, remove yourselves from there.

Ahora pues, Tatnai, gobernador de la provincia al otro lado del río, Setar-boznai, y vuestros compañeros, los oficiales del otro lado del río, alejaos de allí.

7 L eave the work of this house of God unto the captain of the Jews and to their elders that they may build this house of God in his place.

No impidáis esta obra de la casa de Dios, y que el gobernador de los judíos y los ancianos de los judíos reedifiquen esta casa de Dios en su lugar.

8 A nd by me is given the commandment regarding what ye shall do with the elders of these Jews, to build this house of God: that of the king’s goods, of the tribute from the other side of the river, the expenses be given unto these men, that they not cease.

Además, este es mi decreto en cuanto a lo que habéis de hacer por estos ancianos de Judá en la reedificación de esta casa de Dios: del tesoro real de los tributos del otro lado del río se han de pagar todos los gastos a este pueblo, y esto sin demora.

9 A nd that which they have need of, both young bullocks and rams and lambs for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the word of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day that they not cease:

Y todo lo que se necesite: novillos, carneros y corderos para holocausto al Dios del cielo, y trigo, sal, vino y aceite de unción, según lo pidan los sacerdotes que están en Jerusalén, se les dará día por día sin falta,

10 t hat they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

para que puedan ofrecer sacrificios agradables al Dios del cielo y orar por la vida del rey y de sus hijos.

11 I t is also given by my commandment that whoever shall alter this word, let a timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged upon it, and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

Y he proclamado un decreto de que cualquiera que quebrante este edicto, de su casa se arranque un madero, y levantándolo, sea colgado en él, y que su casa sea reducida a escombros a causa de esto.

12 A nd the God that has caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people that shall put to their hand to alter or to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made the decree; let it be done with speed.

Y que el Dios que ha hecho morar allí su nombre derribe a todo rey o pueblo que trate de cambiar lo para destruir esta casa de Dios en Jerusalén. Yo, Darío, he proclamado este decreto; que sea ejecutado con toda exactitud.

13 ¶ Then Tatnai, captain of the other side of the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, speedily did according to that which Darius, the king, had sent.

Entonces Tatnai, gobernador de la provincia al otro lado del río, Setar-boznai y sus compañeros ejecutaron el decreto con toda exactitud, tal como el rey Darío había ordenado.

14 A nd the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered according to the prophecy of Haggai, the prophet, and Zechariah, the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel and according to the commandment of Cyrus and of Darius and of Artaxerxes, king of Persia.

Y los ancianos de los judíos tuvieron éxito en la edificación según la profecía del profeta Hageo y de Zacarías, hijo de Iddo. Y terminaron de edificar conforme al mandato del Dios de Israel y al decreto de Ciro, de Darío y de Artajerjes, rey de Persia.

15 A nd this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius, the king.

Y este templo fue terminado el tercer día del mes de Adar; era el año sexto del reinado del rey Darío. Dedicación del templo

16 A nd the sons of Israel, the priests and the Levites and the rest of the sons of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,

Y los hijos de Israel, los sacerdotes, los levitas y los demás desterrados, celebraron con júbilo la dedicación de esta casa de Dios.

17 a nd they offered at the dedication of this house of God one hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and as the sin of all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

Y para la dedicación de esta casa de Dios ofrecieron cien novillos, doscientos carneros, cuatrocientos corderos, y como ofrenda por el pecado por todo Israel, doce machos cabríos, conforme al número de las tribus de Israel.

18 A nd they set the priests in their divisions and the Levites in their courses over the work of God, which is at Jerusalem, as it is written in the book of Moses.

Entonces asignaron a los sacerdotes en sus secciones y a los levitas en sus clases para el servicio de Dios en Jerusalén, como está escrito en el libro de Moisés.

19 A nd the sons of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.

Los desterrados celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes primero.

20 F or the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the sons of the captivity and for their brethren, the priests, and for themselves.

Ya que los sacerdotes y los levitas se habían purificado juntamente, todos ellos estaban purificados, entonces mataron al cordero de la Pascua para todos los desterrados, tanto para sus hermanos los sacerdotes como para sí mismos.

21 A nd the sons of Israel who had returned out of captivity and all those who had separated themselves unto them from the uncleanness of the Gentiles of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, ate

Comieron la Pascua los hijos de Israel que habían vuelto del destierro y todos aquellos que se habían apartado de la impureza de las naciones de la tierra para unirse a ellos, para buscar al Señor, Dios de Israel.

22 a nd kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; for the LORD had made them joyful and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Y con gozo celebraron por siete días la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, porque el Señor los había llenado de regocijo, y había vuelto hacia ellos el corazón del rey de Asiria para animarlos en la obra de la casa de Dios, el Dios de Israel.
