1 A nd it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein,

»Cuando hayas entrado en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da en posesión, y la hayas tomado y habites en ella,

2 t hat thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which thou shalt bring in from thy land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee; and thou shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

tomarás una parte de todos los primeros frutos que obtengas de la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da, la pondrás en una canasta, y te dirigirás al lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoja como residencia de su nombre.

3 A nd thou shalt come unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto Jehovah thy God, that I am come unto the land which Jehovah sware unto our fathers to give us.

Te presentarás ante el sacerdote que en esos días esté en funciones, y le dirás: “Hoy declaro, ante el Señor tu Dios, que he entrado en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a nuestros padres.”

4 A nd the priest shall take the basket out of thy hand, and set it down before the altar of Jehovah thy God.

El sacerdote recibirá de tu mano la canasta y la colocará ante el altar del Señor tu Dios.

5 A nd thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

Entonces tomarás la palabra, y delante del Señor tu Dios dirás: “Un arameo errante fue mi padre. Con pocos hombres emigró a Egipto, y allí se quedó a vivir. Y allí creció y llegó a ser una nación grande, fuerte y numerosa.

6 A nd the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:

Los egipcios nos maltrataron, nos oprimieron, y nos impusieron una cruel esclavitud.

7 a nd we cried unto Jehovah, the God of our fathers, and Jehovah heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression;

Pero clamamos al Señor, el Dios de nuestros padres, y el Señor oyó nuestra voz, y vio nuestra aflicción, nuestros pesados trabajos y nuestra opresión.

8 a nd Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders;

Entonces el Señor nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y con señales y portentos que causaban terror,

9 a nd he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

y nos trajo a este lugar, y nos dio esta tierra, ¡tierra que fluye leche y miel!

10 A nd now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which thou, O Jehovah, hast given me. And thou shalt set it down before Jehovah thy God, and worship before Jehovah thy God:

Por eso ahora vengo aquí, con los primeros frutos de la tierra que tú, Señor, me diste.” »Todo eso lo pondrás delante del Señor tu Dios, y delante de él te postrarás.

11 a nd thou shalt rejoice in all the good which Jehovah thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thy house, thou, and the Levite, and the sojourner that is in the midst of thee.

Después de eso, tú y tu familia, y los levitas y extranjeros que convivan contigo, harán fiesta por todo el bien que el Señor tu Dios te haya dado.

12 W hen thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then thou shalt give it unto the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.

»Cuando en el año tercero, que es el año del diezmo, hayas apartado la décima parte de tus frutos, la repartirás entre los levitas, extranjeros, huérfanos y viudas que haya en tus aldeas, para que coman hasta quedar satisfechos.

13 A nd thou shalt say before Jehovah thy God, I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandment which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed any of thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

Entonces dirás delante del Señor tu Dios: “Todo lo consagrado a ti lo he sacado de mi casa, y se lo he dado a los levitas y extranjeros, y a los huérfanos y a las viudas, conforme a todo lo que me has mandado. No he desobedecido tus mandamientos, ni los he olvidado.

14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I put away thereof, being unclean, nor given thereof for the dead: I have hearkened to the voice of Jehovah my God; I have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

No comí nada de ello mientras estuve de luto, ni lo consumí mientras estaba yo impuro. Tampoco ofrecí nada de ello a los muertos. Más bien, mi Señor y Dios, he obedecido tu voz y he cumplido con todo lo que me has mandado.

15 L ook down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the ground which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Dígnate asomarte desde el cielo, desde tu santa mansión, y bendice a Israel, que es tu pueblo, y bendice la tierra que nos has dado, tierra que fluye leche y miel, tal y como se lo juraste a nuestros padres.”

16 T his day Jehovah thy God commandeth thee to do these statutes and ordinances: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

»Este día el Señor tu Dios te manda que cumplas estos estatutos y decretos. Ten cuidado de ponerlos por obra con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.

17 T hou hast avouched Jehovah this day to be thy God, and that thou wouldest walk in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and hearken unto his voice:

Este día declaras solemnemente que el Señor es tu Dios, que andarás en sus caminos y cumplirás sus estatutos, mandamientos y decretos, y que obedecerás su voz.

18 a nd Jehovah hath avouched thee this day to be a people for his own possession, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;

Este día el Señor declara que tú eres su pueblo, su posesión exclusiva, tal y como te lo ha prometido. Así que cumple todos sus mandamientos;

19 a nd to make thee high above all nations that he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that thou mayest be a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken.

y exáltalo sobre todas las naciones que él ha creado, para que seas un pueblo santo al Señor tu Dios, digno de alabanza, renombre y gloria, como él lo ha dicho.»
