1 I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Por lo tanto, pregunto: ¿Acaso Dios desechó a su pueblo? ¡De ninguna manera! Porque también yo soy israelita, descendiente de Abrahán y de la tribu de Benjamín.

2 G od did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel:

Dios no desechó a su pueblo, al cual conoció desde un principio. ¿No saben ustedes lo que dice la Escritura acerca de Elías, de cómo invocó a Dios contra Israel, cuando dijo:

3 L ord, they have killed thy prophets, they have digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

«Señor, han dado muerte a tus profetas, y han derribado tus altares. Sólo yo he quedado, y procuran matarme»?

4 B ut what saith the answer of God unto him? I have left for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.

¿Y cuál fue la respuesta divina? «Me he reservado siete mil hombres, que no han doblado la rodilla delante de Baal.»

5 E ven so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

De la misma manera, aun en este tiempo ha quedado un remanente escogido por gracia.

6 B ut if it is by grace, it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

Y si es por gracia, ya no es por obras; de otra manera la gracia ya no sería gracia. Y si fuera por obras, ya no sería gracia; de otra manera la obra ya no es obra.

7 W hat then? that which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened:

¿Entonces, qué? Israel no ha alcanzado lo que buscaba, pero los escogidos sí lo han alcanzado, y los demás fueron endurecidos.

8 a ccording as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day.

Como está escrito: «Dios les dio un espíritu de estupor, y así son hasta el día de hoy. Tienen ojos que no ven y oídos que no oyen.»

9 A nd David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them:

Y David dice: «Que sus banquetes se conviertan en trampa y en red, En tropezadero y en retribución;

10 L et their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back always.

Que sus ojos se nublen para que no vean, Y sus espaldas se encorven para siempre.» La salvación de los no judíos

11 I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

Pregunto entonces: «¿Será que los de Israel tropezaron para caer?» ¡De ninguna manera! Más bien, su transgresión redundó en la salvación de los no judíos, para que los israelitas se pongan celosos.

12 N ow if their fall, is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

Pues si su transgresión ha enriquecido al mundo, y su fracaso ha enriquecido a los no judíos, ¡mucho más será lo que logre su plena restauración!

13 B ut I speak to you that are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my ministry;

Ahora les hablo a ustedes, a los que no son judíos. Por cuanto yo soy el apóstol de ustedes, honro mi ministerio.

14 i f by any means I may provoke to jealousy them that are my flesh, and may save some of them.

Yo quisiera poner celosos a los de mi sangre, y de esa manera salvar a algunos de ellos.

15 F or if the casting away of them is the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

Porque si su exclusión trajo como resultado la reconciliación del mundo, ¿qué resultará de su admisión, sino vida de entre los muertos?

16 A nd if the firstfruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Si la primera parte de la masa es santa, también lo es la masa restante; y si la raíz es santa, también lo son las ramas.

17 B ut if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root of the fatness of the olive tree;

Si algunas de las ramas fueron cortadas, y tú, que eras un olivo silvestre, fuiste injertado en su lugar y has venido a participar de la raíz y de la rica savia del olivo,

18 g lory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee.

no te jactes contra las ramas; y si te jactas, conviene que sepas que no eres tú el que sustenta a la raíz, sino que es la raíz la que te sustenta a ti.

19 T hou wilt say then, Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

Tal vez digas: «Las ramas fueron cortadas para que yo fuera injertado.»

20 W ell; by their unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by thy faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

De acuerdo. Pero ellas fueron cortadas por su incredulidad, y tú te mantienes firme por la fe. Por lo tanto, no seas soberbio, sino temeroso.

21 f or if God spared not the natural branches, neither will he spare thee.

Porque si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, tampoco a ti te perdonará.

22 B ehold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God's goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Por lo tanto, toma en cuenta la bondad y la severidad de Dios; severidad para con los que cayeron, pero bondad para contigo, si permaneces en esa bondad, pues de otra manera también tú serás cortado.

23 A nd they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

Y aun ellos pueden ser injertados, si no permanecen en su incredulidad, pues Dios es poderoso para volver a injertarlos.

24 F or if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree; how much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

Porque si tú, que por naturaleza eras un olivo silvestre, contra la naturaleza fuiste cortado e injertado en el buen olivo, ¡con más razón éstos, que son las ramas naturales, serán injertados en su propio olivo! La restauración de Israel

25 F or I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in;

Hermanos, no quiero que ignoren este misterio, para que no se vuelvan arrogantes. Parte de Israel se ha endurecido, y esto será así hasta que se haya incorporado la totalidad de los no judíos;

26 a nd so all Israel shall be saved: even as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer; He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

y después de eso todo Israel será salvo. Como está escrito: «El Libertador vendrá de Sión, y apartará de Jacob la impiedad.

27 A nd this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins.

Y éste será mi pacto con ellos, cuando yo quite sus pecados.»

28 A s touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sake.

Así que, en cuanto al evangelio, son enemigos por causa de ustedes; pero en cuanto a la elección, son amados por causa de sus antepasados.

29 F or the gifts and the calling of God are not repented of.

Porque los dones y el llamamiento de Dios son irrevocables.

30 F or as ye in time past were disobedient to God, but now have obtained mercy by their disobedience,

Así como en otro tiempo ustedes eran desobedientes a Dios, pero ahora han alcanzado misericordia por la desobediencia de ellos,

31 e ven so have these also now been disobedient, that by the mercy shown to you they also may now obtain mercy.

así también éstos han sido desobedientes ahora, para que por la misericordia concedida a ustedes también ellos alcancen misericordia.

32 F or God hath shut up all unto disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all.

Porque Dios sujetó a todos a la desobediencia, para tener misericordia de todos.

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

¡Qué profundas son las riquezas de la sabiduría y del conocimiento de Dios! ¡Cuán incomprensibles son sus juicios, e inescrutables sus caminos!

34 F or who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

Porque ¿quién ha entendido la mente del Señor? ¿O quién ha sido su consejero?

35 o r who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

¿O quién le dio a él primero, para que él tenga que devolverlo?

36 F or of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things. To him be the glory for ever. Amen.

Ciertamente, todas las cosas son de él, y por él, y para él. ¡A él sea la gloria por siempre! Amén.
