1 H ezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old; and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

Ezequías tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén veintinueve años. Su madre se llamaba Abías, y era hija de Zacarías.

2 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.

Y Ezequías hizo lo recto a los ojos del Señor, tal y como lo había hecho David, su padre. Ezequías restablece el culto del templo

3 H e in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Jehovah, and repaired them.

En el mes primero del primer año de su reinado, Ezequías abrió las puertas del templo del Señor, y las reparó.

4 A nd he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east,

Convocó a los sacerdotes y levitas, los reunió en la plaza oriental,

5 a nd said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites; now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

y les dijo: «¡Escúchenme, levitas! Santifíquense ahora, y santifiquen el templo del Señor, el Dios de sus padres. Saquen del santuario toda impureza,

6 F or our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Jehovah, and turned their backs.

porque nuestros padres se han rebelado; han hecho lo malo a los ojos del Señor nuestro Dios, pues lo han abandonado; se han apartado del tabernáculo del Señor, y le han dado la espalda.

7 A lso they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt-offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.

¡Hasta llegaron a cerrar las puertas del atrio, y apagaron las lámparas! ¡No quemaron incienso en el santuario, ni ofrecieron holocaustos al Dios de Israel!

8 W herefore the wrath of Jehovah was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to be tossed to and fro, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as ye see with your eyes.

Por eso la ira del Señor ha venido sobre Judá y Jerusalén, y los ha entregado a la confusión, a ser objeto de maldición y de burla, como ahora pueden ver.

9 F or, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

¡Miren a nuestros padres, muertos a filo de espada! ¡Por eso nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, y hasta nuestras mujeres, han ido al cautiverio!

10 N ow it is in my heart to make a covenant with Jehovah, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

Pero yo he decidido hacer un pacto con el Señor, el Dios de Israel, para que aparte de nosotros el ardor de su ira.

11 M y sons, be not now negligent; for Jehovah hath chosen you to stand before him, to minister unto him, and that ye should be his ministers, and burn incense.

No se engañen, hijos míos, que el Señor los ha escogido para que estén en su presencia y le sirvan, y sean sus ministros y le quemen incienso.»

12 T hen the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

De los hijos de Coat se dispusieron a servir los levitas Majat hijo de Amasay y Joel hijo de Azarías. De los hijos de Merari: Cis hijo de Abdi y Azarías hijo de Yalelel. De los hijos de Gersón: Yoaj hijo de Zima y Edén hijo de Yoaj.

13 a nd of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;

De los hijos de Elisafán: Simerí y Yeguiel. De los hijos de Asaf: Zacarías y Matanías.

14 a nd of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.

De los hijos de Hemán: Yejiel y Simey. De los hijos de Jedutún: Semaías y Uziel.

15 A nd they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by the words of Jehovah, to cleanse the house of Jehovah.

Éstos reunieron a sus parientes, se santificaron y entraron para limpiar el templo del Señor, conforme a las órdenes del rey y las palabras del Señor.

16 A nd the priests went in unto the inner part of the house of Jehovah, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovah into the court of the house of Jehovah. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.

Los sacerdotes que entraron a limpiar el templo del Señor sacaron todas las impurezas que hallaron allí dentro, y las arrojaron al atrio del templo del Señor; de allí, los levitas las arrojaron al torrente de Cedrón.

17 N ow they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Jehovah; and they sanctified the house of Jehovah in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

Comenzaron a santificarse el día primero del mes primero, a los ocho días del mismo mes fueron al pórtico del Señor, y ocho días después habían santificado el templo del Señor. El día dieciséis del mes primero habían terminado.

18 T hen they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah, and the altar of burnt-offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the table of showbread, with all the vessels thereof.

Entonces se presentaron ante el rey Ezequías y le dijeron: «Ya hemos limpiado todo el templo del Señor, el altar del holocausto, y todos sus utensilios, y también la mesa de la proposición con todos sus utensilios.

19 M oreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and, behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.

Hemos preparado y santificado igualmente todos los utensilios que, en su infidelidad, había desechado el rey Ajaz durante su reinado, y aquí están ya, ante el altar del Señor.»

20 T hen Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the house of Jehovah.

Entonces el rey Ezequías se levantó por la mañana y reunió a los principales de la ciudad, y subió al templo del Señor.

21 A nd they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he-goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovah.

Allí Ezequías ordenó a los sacerdotes descendientes de Aarón que ofrecieran sobre el altar del Señor siete novillos, siete carneros, siete corderos y siete machos cabríos, para la expiación del reino, del santuario y de Judá.

22 S o they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar.

Los novillos fueron sacrificados, y los sacerdotes recogieron la sangre y la esparcieron sobre el altar; luego mataron los carneros y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar, y lo mismo hicieron con los corderos.

23 A nd they brought near the he-goats for the sin-offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands upon them:

Después acercaron al rey y a la multitud los machos cabríos para la expiación, y pusieron sobre ellos sus manos.

24 a nd the priests killed them, and they made a sin-offering with their blood upon the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt-offering and the sin-offering should be made for all Israel.

Los sacerdotes los mataron, y con la sangre de ellos hicieron la ofrenda de expiación sobre el altar para reconciliar a todo Israel, pues por todo Israel mandó el rey que se hicieran el holocausto y la expiación.

25 A nd he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets.

Ezequías también puso en el templo del Señor levitas con címbalos, salterios y arpas, en obediencia al mandamiento de David, de Gad, vidente del rey, y del profeta Natán, porque ese mandamiento procedía del Señor por medio de sus profetas.

26 A nd the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

Los levitas tenían los instrumentos de David, y los sacerdotes, las trompetas.

27 A nd Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt-offering upon the altar. And when the burnt-offering began, the song of Jehovah began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel.

Entonces Ezequías ordenó ofrecer el holocausto en el altar; y cuando dio comienzo el holocausto, dio también comienzo el cántico del Señor, con las trompetas y los instrumentos del rey David de Israel.

28 A nd all the assembly worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt-offering was finished.

Toda la multitud adoraba, los cantores cantaban, y los trompeteros hacían sonar las trompetas. Todo esto duró hasta que el holocausto se consumió.

29 A nd when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves and worshipped.

Y cuando terminaron de ofrecer el holocausto, el rey se inclinó y adoró, y lo mismo hicieron todos los que estaban con él.

30 M oreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises unto Jehovah with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

Entonces el rey Ezequías y los príncipes dijeron a los levitas que alabaran al Señor con las palabras de David y del vidente Asaf, y ellos alabaron con gran alegría, y se inclinaron y adoraron.

31 T hen Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto Jehovah; come near and bring sacrifices and thank-offerings into the house of Jehovah. And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank-offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt-offerings.

Entonces Ezequías dijo: «Ahora ustedes se han consagrado al Señor. Acérquense, pues, y presenten sacrificios y alabanzas en el templo del Señor.» La multitud presentó sacrificios y alabanzas, y todos los de corazón generoso ofrecieron holocaustos.

32 A nd the number of the burnt-offerings which the assembly brought was threescore and ten bullocks, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt-offering to Jehovah.

El número total de los holocaustos que ofreció la congregación fue de setenta bueyes, cien carneros y doscientos corderos, todo para el holocausto del Señor.

33 A nd the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

Las ofrendas fueron seiscientos bueyes y tres mil ovejas.

34 B ut the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt-offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

Pero los sacerdotes eran pocos, y no alcanzaban a desollar los holocaustos, así que sus parientes levitas los ayudaron hasta terminar la obra y hasta que los demás sacerdotes se santificaron. Y es que el corazón de los levitas fue más recto para santificarse que el de los sacerdotes.

35 A nd also the burnt-offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings for every burnt-offering. So the service of the house of Jehovah was set in order.

Y así, hubo abundancia de holocaustos, con la grasa de las ofrendas de paz y las libaciones para cada holocausto, y el servicio del templo del Señor quedó restablecido.

36 A nd Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

Y Ezequías se regocijó con todo el pueblo de que Dios hubiera preparado el pueblo, porque todo fue hecho con rapidez.
