1 A nd the two angels came to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face to the earth;

Al caer la tarde llegaron los dos ángeles a Sodoma. Lot estaba sentado a la entrada de Sodoma, así que al verlos se levantó a recibirlos. Se inclinó hasta el suelo,

2 a nd he said, Behold now, my lords, turn aside, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

y dijo: «Señores míos, les ruego que vengan a la casa de este siervo suyo y pasen allí la noche. Se lavarán los pies, y por la mañana podrán levantarse y seguir su camino.» Pero ellos respondieron: «No, sino que pasaremos la noche en la calle.»

3 A nd he urged them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

Como Lot les insistió demasiado, ellos se fueron con él. Al entrar en su casa, les ofreció un banquete de panes sin levadura, y ellos comieron.

4 B ut before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;

Pero antes de que se acostaran, los hombres de la ciudad rodearon la casa. Allí estaba todo el pueblo junto, todos los hombres de Sodoma, desde el más joven hasta el más viejo.

5 a nd they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men that came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Llamaron a Lot, y le dijeron: «¿Dónde están los varones que vinieron a tu casa esta noche? Sácalos, pues queremos tener relaciones con ellos.»

6 A nd Lot went out unto them to the door, and shut the door after him.

Lot salió hasta la puerta para hablar con ellos, pero cerró la puerta tras de sí.

7 A nd he said, I pray you, my brethren, do not so wickedly.

Y les dijo: «Hermanos míos, yo les ruego no cometer tal maldad.

8 B ehold now, I have two daughters that have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing, forasmuch as they are come under the shadow of my roof.

Yo tengo aquí dos hijas mías, que no han conocido varón. Voy a sacarlas, y ustedes podrán hacer con ellas lo que mejor les parezca; pero a estos varones no les hagan nada, pues han venido a refugiarse bajo mi tejado.»

9 A nd they said, Stand back. And they said, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and drew near to break the door.

Pero ellos respondieron: «¡Hazte a un lado!» Y añadieron: «Este extranjero vino a vivir entre nosotros, ¡y ahora quiere erigirse en juez! ¡Pues te va a ir peor que a ellos!» Y trataron a Lot con gran violencia, y se acercaron para derribar la puerta.

10 B ut the men put forth their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

Entonces los varones extendieron la mano y metieron a Lot en la casa con ellos; luego cerraron la puerta,

11 A nd they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

y a los hombres que estaban a la entrada de la casa, desde el menor hasta el mayor, los hirieron con ceguera, y éstos se cansaron de buscar la puerta.

12 A nd the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whomsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of the place:

Y los varones le dijeron a Lot: «¿Todavía hay alguien más contigo? ¿Yernos, hijos, hijas? Todo lo que tengas en la ciudad, ¡sácalo de aquí!

13 f or we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxed great before Jehovah: and Jehovah hath sent us to destroy it.

Porque nosotros vamos a destruir este lugar. ¡Son ya demasiadas las quejas contra ellos, que han llegado a oídos del Señor! Por eso el Señor nos ha enviado a destruirlo.»

14 A nd Lot went out, and spake unto his sons-in-law, who married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he seemed unto his sons-in-law as one that mocked.

Entonces Lot salió y habló con sus yernos, es decir, los que habían tomado a sus hijas, y les dijo: «¡Levántense, salgan de esta ciudad, que el Señor va a destruirla!» Pero a sus yernos les pareció que Lot estaba bromeando.

15 A nd when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters that are here, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

Al rayar el alba, los ángeles apuraban a Lot y le decían: «Levántate, y llévate a tu mujer y a tus dos hijas que tienes aquí, para que no mueras cuando la ciudad sea castigada.»

16 B ut he lingered; and the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters, Jehovah being merciful unto him; and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Pero como él se tardaba, los varones lo tomaron de la mano y, junto con su mujer y sus dos hijas, lo sacaron de la ciudad y lo pusieron fuera de ella, conforme a la misericordia que el Señor tuvo de él.

17 A nd it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the Plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Una vez que los sacaron, le dijeron: «¡Corre, ponte a salvo! No mires hacia atrás, ni te detengas en toda esta llanura. ¡Huye a los montes, no sea que perezcas!»

18 A nd Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my lord:

Pero Lot les dijo: «No, señores míos, por favor.

19 b ehold now, thy servant hath found favor in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy lovingkindness, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die:

Puedo ver que este siervo suyo ha hallado gracia ante sus ojos. Ustedes han engrandecido su misericordia para conmigo al concederme la vida; pero yo no puedo huir a los montes, no sea que el mal me alcance y yo muera.

20 b ehold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape thither (is it not a little one?), and my soul shall live.

¡Miren esa ciudad! ¡Está muy cerca y es pequeña! ¡Déjenme escapar a ella, y así podré salvar mi vida! ¿Verdad que sí es pequeña?»

21 A nd he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which thou hast spoken.

Y él le respondió: «Acepto esta súplica tuya. No destruiré esa ciudad, de la que me has hablado.

22 H aste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

Pero date prisa y corre a ella, porque yo no podré hacer nada hasta que llegues allá.» Por eso esa ciudad recibió el nombre de Soar.

23 T he sun was risen upon the earth when Lot came unto Zoar.

Y cuando el sol comenzaba a salir sobre la tierra, Lot llegó a Soar.

24 T hen Jehovah rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven;

Entonces el Señor hizo llover desde los cielos azufre y fuego sobre Sodoma y Gomorra,

25 a nd he overthrew those cities, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

y destruyó las ciudades y toda aquella llanura, junto con todos los habitantes de aquellas ciudades y los productos de la tierra.

26 B ut his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Pero la mujer de Lot miró hacia atrás, y quedó convertida en una estatua de sal.

27 A nd Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Jehovah:

A la mañana siguiente, Abrahán se levantó y fue al lugar donde había estado hablando con el Señor,

28 a nd he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the Plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

y cuando miró hacia Sodoma y Gomorra, y hacia toda la tierra de aquella llanura, vio que de la tierra subía humo, como el humo de un horno.

29 A nd it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the Plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.

Cuando Dios destruyó las ciudades de la llanura y asoló las ciudades donde Lot vivía, se acordó de Abrahán y sacó a Lot de en medio de la destrucción.

30 A nd Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

Pero Lot tuvo miedo de quedarse en Soar, así que salió de allí y se fue al monte, y allí se quedó a vivir en una cueva, junto con sus dos hijas.

31 A nd the first-born said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

Y la hija mayor le dijo a la menor: «Nuestro padre es un anciano, y ya no hay en la tierra ningún hombre que se allegue a nosotras, como es la costumbre de toda la tierra.

32 c ome, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

Vamos a darle vino a nuestro padre, para que lo beba, y luego nos acostaremos con él. Así mantendremos viva la descendencia de nuestro padre.»

33 A nd they made their father drink wine that night: and the first-born went in, and lay with her father; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

Esa misma noche le dieron a beber vino a su padre, y la mayor fue y se acostó con él, pero él no supo cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó.

34 A nd it came to pass on the morrow, that the first-born said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

Al día siguiente, la mayor le dijo a la menor: «Como sabes, anoche yo dormí con mi padre. Démosle a beber vino también esta noche, para que ahora vayas tú y te acuestes con él. Así mantendremos viva la descendencia de nuestro padre.»

35 A nd they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

Y esa noche también le dieron a beber vino a su padre, y la menor fue y se acostó con él; pero él tampoco supo cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó.

36 T hus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Y así, las dos hijas de Lot concibieron de parte de su padre.

37 A nd the first-born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

La mayor tuvo un hijo, y le puso por nombre Moab, que hasta el día de hoy es el padre de los moabitas.

38 A nd the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

También la menor tuvo un hijo, y le puso por nombre Ben Amí, que hasta el día de hoy es el padre de los amonitas.
