1 ¶ These are the statutes and rights which ye shall keep to do them in the land which the LORD God of thy fathers gives thee to inherit all the days that ye live upon the land.

“Estos son los estatutos y los decretos que observarán cuidadosamente en la tierra que el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te ha dado para que la poseas todos los días que ustedes vivan sobre su suelo.

2 Y e shall utterly destroy all the places, upon which the Gentiles, of whom ye shall inherit, served their gods, upon the high mountains and upon the hills and under every green tree;

Destruirán completamente todos los lugares donde las naciones que desposeerán sirven a sus dioses: sobre los montes altos, sobre las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

3 a nd ye shall overthrow their altars and break their images and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the statues of their gods and destroy the names of them out of that place.

Y demolerán sus altares, quebrarán sus pilares sagrados, quemarán a fuego sus imágenes de Asera, derribarán las imágenes talladas de sus dioses y borrarán su nombre de aquel lugar.

4 Y e shall not do so unto the LORD your God.

No actuarán así con el Señor su Dios,

5 ¶ But ye shall seek the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there for his habitation, and thou shalt go there.

sino que buscarán al Señor en el lugar en que el Señor su Dios escoja de todas sus tribus, para poner allí Su nombre para Su morada, y allí ustedes irán.

6 A nd there ye shall bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes and the offerings of your hand and your vows and your freewill offerings and the firstborn of your cows and of your sheep;

Allí llevarán sus holocaustos, sus sacrificios, sus diezmos, la contribución de su mano, sus ofrendas votivas (de sus votos), sus ofrendas voluntarias, y el primogénito de sus vacas y de sus ovejas.

7 a nd there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye and your households shall rejoice in every work of your hands in which the LORD thy God has blessed thee.

Allí también ustedes y sus familias comerán en presencia del Señor su Dios, y se alegrarán en todas sus empresas en las cuales el Señor su Dios los ha bendecido.

8 Y e shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, each man doing what seems right in his own eyes,

De ninguna manera harán lo que hacemos aquí hoy, que cada cual hace lo que le parece bien a sus propios ojos;

9 F or ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you.

porque todavía no han llegado al lugar de reposo y a la heredad que el Señor su Dios les da.

10 B ut when ye pass the Jordan and dwell in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit and when he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety,

Cuando crucen el Jordán y habiten en la tierra que el Señor su Dios les da en heredad, y El les dé descanso de todos sus enemigos alrededor de ustedes para que habiten seguros,

11 t hen there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; there shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the offerings of your hand and all your choice of vows which ye vow unto the LORD;

entonces sucederá que al lugar que el Señor, su Dios, escoja para morada de Su nombre, allí traerán todo lo que yo les mando: sus holocaustos y sus sacrificios, sus diezmos y la ofrenda alzada de su mano, y todo lo más selecto de sus ofrendas votivas que han prometido al Señor.

12 a nd ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye and your sons and your daughters and your menslaves and your maidslaves and the Levite that is within your gates because he has no part nor inheritance with you.

Y se alegrarán en presencia del Señor su Dios, ustedes, sus hijos y sus hijas, sus siervos y sus siervas, y el Levita que vive dentro de sus puertas, ya que no tiene parte ni heredad entre ustedes.

13 K eep thyself that thou not offer thy burnt offerings in any place that thou seest

“Cuídate de no ofrecer tus holocaustos en cualquier lugar que veas,

14 b ut in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes; there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

sino en el lugar que el Señor escoja en una de tus tribus, allí ofrecerás tus holocaustos, y allí harás todo lo que yo te mando. La Carne y las Ofrendas

15 N otwithstanding, thou may kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, according to the desire of thy soul, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he has given thee; the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck and as of the hart.

“Sin embargo, podrás matar y comer carne dentro de todas tus puertas (tus ciudades), conforme a tu deseo, según la bendición que el Señor tu Dios te ha dado; el inmundo y el limpio podrán comerla, como si fuera de gacela o de ciervo.

16 O nly ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

Sólo que ustedes no comerán la sangre; la derramarán sobre la tierra como el agua.

17 T hou may not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy grain or of thy wine or of thy oil or the firstborn of thy cows or of thy sheep nor any of thy vows which thou hast promised nor thy freewill offerings or the heave offerings of thy hands.

No te es permitido comer dentro de tus ciudades el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino nuevo o de tu aceite, ni de los primogénitos de tus vacas o de tus ovejas, ni ninguna de las ofrendas votivas (los votos) que prometas, ni tus ofrendas voluntarias, ni la ofrenda alzada de tu mano,

18 B ut thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall have chosen, thou and thy son and thy daughter and thy manslave and thy maidslave and the Levite that is within thy gates; and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all the work of thy hands.

sino que lo comerás en presencia del Señor tu Dios en el lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoja, tú, tu hijo y tu hija, tu siervo y tu sierva, y el Levita que vive dentro de tus puertas (de tus ciudades); y te alegrarás en presencia del Señor tu Dios de toda la obra de tus manos.

19 K eep thyself that thou not forsake the Levite in all thy days upon thy land.

Cuídate de no desamparar al Levita mientras vivas en tu tierra.

20 W hen the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he has promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul desires to eat flesh, according to all the desire of thy soul thou shalt eat flesh.

“Cuando el Señor tu Dios haya extendido tus fronteras como te ha prometido, y tú digas: ‘Comeré carne,’ porque deseas comer carne, entonces podrás comer carne, toda la que desees.

21 W hen the place which the LORD thy God shall have chosen to put his name there is far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy cows and of thy sheep, which the LORD has given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates according to all thy soul desires.

Si el lugar que el Señor tu Dios escoge para poner Su nombre está muy lejos de ti, entonces podrás matar de tus vacas y de tus ovejas que el Señor te ha dado, como te he ordenado, y podrás comer dentro de tus puertas (de tus ciudades) todo lo que desees.

22 E ven as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them; the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.

Tal como se come la gacela y el ciervo, así la podrás comer; el inmundo y el limpio podrán comer de ella.

23 O nly be sure not to eat the blood; for the blood is the soul (or the life), and thou art not to eat the soul with its flesh.

Sólo cuídate de no comer la sangre, porque la sangre es la vida, y no comerás la vida con la carne.

24 T hou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

No la comerás; la derramarás sobre la tierra como el agua.

25 T hou shalt not eat it that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

No la comerás, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti, porque estarás haciendo lo que es justo delante del Señor.

26 B ut the things which thou hast consecrated and thy vows, thou shalt take and go unto the place which the LORD shall have chosen,

Solamente las cosas sagradas que tengas y tus ofrendas votivas (de tus votos), las tomarás e irás al lugar que el Señor escoja.

27 a nd thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

Ofrecerás tus holocaustos, la carne y la sangre, sobre el altar del Señor tu Dios; y la sangre de tus sacrificios será derramada sobre el altar del Señor tu Dios, y podrás comer la carne.

28 K eep and hear all these words which I command thee that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

Escucha con cuidado todas estas palabras que te mando, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti para siempre, porque estarás haciendo lo que es bueno y justo delante del Señor tu Dios. Advertencia contra la Idolatría

29 W hen the LORD thy God shall have cut off the Gentiles from before thee, in the place where thou goest to inherit of them, and thou dost inherit of them and dost dwell in their land,

“Cuando el Señor tu Dios haya destruido delante de ti las naciones que vas a desposeer, y las hayas desposeído y habites en su tierra,

30 k eep thyself from being snared by following them, after they are destroyed from before thee; enquire not after their gods, saying, After the manner that these Gentiles served their gods, even so will I do likewise.

cuídate de no caer en una trampa imitándolas, después que hayan sido destruidas delante de ti, y de no buscar sus dioses, diciendo: ‘¿Cómo servían estas naciones a sus dioses para que también yo haga lo mismo?’

31 T hou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God; for every abomination unto the LORD, which he hates, they have done unto their gods; for they have even burnt their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

No procederás así para con el Señor tu Dios, porque toda acción abominable que el Señor odia, ellos la han hecho en honor de sus dioses; porque aun a sus hijos y a sus hijas queman en el fuego en honor a sus dioses.

32 K eep thyself, and do all that I command you; thou shalt not add to it nor diminish from it.

“ Cuidarás de hacer todo lo que te mando; nada le añadirás ni le quitarás.
