1 ¶ Therefore, thou shalt love the LORD thy God and keep his charge and his statutes and his rights and his commandments, always.

“Amarás, pues, al Señor tu Dios, y guardarás siempre Sus mandatos, Sus estatutos, Sus ordenanzas y Sus mandamientos.

2 A nd know ye this day; for I speak not with your children who have not known and who have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,

Comprendan ustedes hoy que no estoy hablando con sus hijos, los cuales no han visto la disciplina del Señor su Dios: Su grandeza, Su mano poderosa, Su brazo extendido,

3 a nd his miracles and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh, the king of Egypt and unto all his land,

Sus señales y Sus obras que hizo en medio de Egipto a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra;

4 a nd what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses and to their chariots, how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you and how the LORD has destroyed them unto this day,

lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros, al hacer que el agua del Mar Rojo los cubriera cuando los perseguían a ustedes, y el Señor los destruyó completamente;

5 a nd what he did with you in the wilderness until ye came into this place,

lo que hizo por ustedes en el desierto hasta que llegaron a este lugar.

6 a nd what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up and their households and their tents and all the substance that was in their possession in the midst of all Israel;

“También vieron lo que hizo a Datán y Abiram, los hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos, a sus familias, a sus tiendas y a todo ser viviente que los seguía, en medio de todo Israel.

7 b ut your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.

Pero ustedes, con sus propios ojos, han visto toda la gran obra que el Señor ha hecho. Obediencia y Recompensa

8 ¶ Keep, therefore, all the commandments which I command you this day that ye may be strong and enter in and inherit the land, into which ye go to inherit it

“Guarden, pues, todos los mandamientos que les ordeno hoy, para que sean fuertes, y entren y tomen posesión de la tierra a la cual entran para poseerla;

9 a nd that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that flows with milk and honey.

para que prolonguen sus días en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a sus padres y a su descendencia, una tierra que mana leche y miel.

10 F or the land, into which thou goest to inherit it, is not as the land of Egypt, from which ye came out, where thou didst sow thy seed and water it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs.

Porque la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla, no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde ustedes vinieron, donde sembrabas tu semilla, y la regabas con el pie como una huerta de hortalizas,

11 T he land, into which ye go to inherit it, is a land of mountains and valleys and drinks water of the rain of heaven,

sino que la tierra a la cual entran para poseerla, tierra de montes y valles, bebe el agua de las lluvias del cielo.

12 a land which the LORD thy God procures; the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

Es una tierra que el Señor tu Dios cuida; los ojos del Señor tu Dios están siempre sobre ella, desde el principio hasta el fin del año.

13 A nd it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day: to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul

“ Y sucederá que si obedecen mis mandamientos que les ordeno hoy, de amar al Señor su Dios y de servirle con todo su corazón y con toda su alma,

14 t hat I will give you the rain of your land in its due season, the early rain and the latter rain, and thou shalt gather in thy grain and thy wine and thine oil.

El dará a la tierra de ustedes la lluvia a su tiempo, lluvia temprana (de otoño) y lluvia tardía (de primavera), para que recojas tu grano, tu vino nuevo y tu aceite.

15 A nd I will send grass in thy fields for thy beasts, and thou shalt eat and be full.

Y El dará hierba en tus campos para tu ganado, y comerás y te saciarás.

16 K eep yourselves, therefore, that your heart not be deceived and ye turn aside and serve other gods and worship them;

Tengan cuidado, no sea que se engañe su corazón y se desvíen y sirvan a otros dioses, y los adoren.

17 a nd then the LORD’s wrath be kindled against you and he shut up the heavens, that there be no rain and that the land yield not her fruit, and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you.

No sea que la ira del Señor se encienda contra ustedes, y cierre los cielos y no haya lluvia y la tierra no produzca su fruto, y pronto perezcan en la buena tierra que el Señor les da.

18 ¶ Therefore, ye shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul and bind them for a sign upon your hand that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

“ Graben, pues, estas mis palabras en su corazón y en su alma; átenlas como una señal en su mano, y serán por insignias entre sus ojos.

19 A nd ye shall teach them to your children that ye may think of them sitting in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up.

Enséñenlas a sus hijos, hablando de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

20 A nd thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house and upon thy gates

Y escríbelas en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas,

21 t hat your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, upon the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens upon the earth.

para que tus días y los días de tus hijos sean multiplicados en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a tus padres, por todo el tiempo que los cielos permanezcan sobre la tierra.

22 F or if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, loving the LORD your God and walking in all his ways, to cleave unto him,

Porque si guardan cuidadosamente todo este mandamiento que les ordeno para cumplirlo, amando al Señor su Dios, andando en todos Sus caminos y allegándose a El,

23 t hen the LORD will drive out all these Gentiles from before you, and ye shall possess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

entonces el Señor expulsará de delante de ustedes a todas estas naciones, y ustedes desposeerán a naciones más grandes y más poderosas que ustedes.

24 E very place upon which the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours, from the wilderness and Lebanon; from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the western sea shall be your border.

Todo lugar donde pise la planta de su pie será de ustedes; sus fronteras serán desde el desierto hasta el Líbano, y desde el río, el Río Eufrates, hasta el Mar Occidental (el Mediterráneo).

25 N o one shall be able to stand before you; for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he has said unto you.

Nadie les podrá hacer frente; el Señor su Dios infundirá, como El les ha dicho, el espanto y terror de ustedes en toda la tierra que pise su pie.

26 ¶ Behold, I set before you this day the blessing and the curse:

“Miren, hoy pongo delante de ustedes una bendición y una maldición:

27 T he blessing if ye hear the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day,

la bendición, si escuchan los mandamientos del Señor su Dios que les ordeno hoy;

28 a nd the curse if ye will not hear the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

y la maldición, si no escuchan los mandamientos del Señor su Dios, sino que se apartan del camino que les ordeno hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no han conocido.

29 A nd it shall come to pass when the LORD thy God has brought thee in unto the land where thou goest to inherit it that thou shalt put the blessing upon Mount Gerizim and the curse upon Mount Ebal,

“Y acontecerá, que cuando el Señor tu Dios te lleve a la tierra donde entras para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre el Monte Gerizim y la maldición sobre el Monte Ebal.

30 w hich are on the other side of the Jordan, by the way of the west, in the land of the Canaanite, who dwells in the plain over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh.

¿No están ellos al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino al oeste, en la tierra de los Cananeos que habitan en el Arabá, frente a Gilgal, junto al encinar de More ?

31 F or ye shall pass the Jordan to go in to inherit the land which the LORD your God gives you, and ye shall possess it and dwell therein.

Porque ustedes van a pasar el Jordán para ir a poseer la tierra que el Señor su Dios les da, y la tomarán y habitarán en ella,

32 K eep yourselves, therefore, to do all the statutes and rights which I set before you this day.

y tendrán cuidado de cumplir todos los estatutos y decretos que hoy pongo delante de ustedes.
