1 ¶ Thus hath the LORD said: Go down to the house of the king of Judah and speak there this word,

Así dice el Señor: “Desciende a la casa del rey de Judá y habla allí esta palabra:

2 a nd say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that doth sit upon the throne of David, thou, and thy slaves and thy people that enter in by these gates:

‘Escucha la palabra del Señor, oh rey de Judá, que te sientas sobre el trono de David, tú, tus siervos y tu pueblo que entran por estas puertas.

3 T hus hath the LORD said: Execute judgment and righteousness and deliver the oppressed out of the hand of the oppressor and do not deceive, neither steal from the stranger nor from the fatherless nor from the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

Así dice el Señor: “Practiquen el derecho y la justicia, y liberen al despojado de manos de su opresor. Tampoco maltraten ni hagan violencia al extranjero, al huérfano o a la viuda, ni derramen sangre inocente en este lugar.

4 F or if ye effectively obey this word, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house the kings seated by David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he and his slaves and his people.

Porque si en verdad observan este mandato, entonces entrarán reyes por las puertas de esta casa, y se sentarán en el lugar de David, en su trono. Entrarán montados en carros y caballos, el rey, sus siervos y su pueblo.

5 B ut if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, said the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

Pero si no obedecen estas palabras, juro por mí mismo,” declara el Señor, “que esta casa vendrá a ser una desolación.”’”

6 F or thus hath the LORD said regarding the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto me and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness and cities which are not inhabited.

Porque así dice el Señor acerca de la casa del rey de Judá: “Eres como Galaad para Mí, Como la cumbre del Líbano; Pero ciertamente te convertiré en un desierto, Como ciudades deshabitadas.

7 A nd I will appoint destroyers against thee, each one with his weapons, and they shall cut down thy choice cedars and cast them into the fire.

Designaré contra ti destructores, Cada uno con sus armas, Y cortarán tus cedros más selectos Y los echarán al fuego.

8 A nd many Gentiles shall pass by this city, and each man shall say to his neighbour, Why has the LORD done thus unto this great city?

“Pasarán muchas naciones junto a esta ciudad, y cada cual dirá a su prójimo: ‘¿Por qué ha hecho así el Señor a esta gran ciudad ?’

9 T hen they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God and worshipped other gods and served them.

Entonces responderán: ‘Porque abandonaron el pacto del Señor su Dios, y se postraron ante otros dioses y les sirvieron.’”

10 ¶ Do not weep for the dead nor bemoan him, but weep sore for him that goes away, for he shall return no more nor see his native country.

No lloren por el muerto ni hagan duelo por él, Lloren amargamente por el que se va cautivo, Porque jamás volverá Ni verá su tierra natal.

11 F or thus hath the LORD said of Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, He who went forth out of this place shall not return there any more;

Porque así dice el Señor acerca de Salum (Joacaz), hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que reinó en lugar de su padre Josías, y que salió de este lugar: “Nunca más volverá aquí;

12 b ut he shall die in the place where they have led him captive and shall see this land no more.

sino que en el lugar adonde lo llevaron cautivo, allí morirá, y no verá más esta tierra.

13 W oe unto him that builds his house and not in righteousness and his chambers and not in judgment, using his neighbour’s service without wages and not giving him the wages of his work!

“Ay del que edifica su casa sin justicia Y sus aposentos altos sin derecho, Que a su prójimo hace trabajar de balde Y no le da su salario.

14 T hat saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cuts out windows in it and covers it with cedar and anoints it with vermilion.

El que dice: ‘Me edificaré una casa espaciosa Con amplios aposentos altos ’; Y le abre ventanas, La recubre de cedro y la pinta de rojo.

15 S halt thou reign, because thou dost enclose thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink and do judgment and righteousness, and then it was well with him?

¿Acaso te harás rey porque compites en cedro? ¿No comió y bebió tu padre Y practicó el derecho y la justicia ? Por eso le fue bien.

16 H e judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him. Is this not to know me? said the LORD.

Defendió la causa del pobre y del necesitado; Entonces le fue bien. ¿No es esto conocerme?” declara el Señor.

17 B ut thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness and for to shed innocent blood and for oppression and for violence, to do it.

“Pero tus ojos y tu corazón Sólo están para tu propia ganancia, Para derramar sangre inocente, Y para practicar la opresión y la violencia.”

18 T herefore thus hath the LORD said concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! and Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

Por tanto, así dice el Señor acerca de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: “No llorarán por él: ‘¡Ay, hermano mío!’ o ‘¡Ay, hermana!’ No llorarán por él: ‘¡Ay, señor!’ o ‘¡Ay, su gloria!’

19 H e shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

Será enterrado con entierro de asno: Será arrastrado y tirado fuera de las Puertas de Jerusalén.

20 ¶ Go up to Lebanon and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan and cry unto all parts: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

Sube al Líbano y clama, Y da voces en Basán; Clama también desde Abarim, Porque han sido destruidos todos tus amantes.

21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity, but thou didst say, I will not hear. This has been thy way from thy youth, that thou hast never heard my voice.

Te hablé en tu prosperidad, Pero dijiste: ‘No escucharé.’ Esta ha sido tu costumbre desde tu juventud, Que nunca has escuchado mi voz.

22 T he wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confound thyself because of all thy malice.

A todos tus pastores arrasará el viento, Y tus amantes irán al cautiverio; Entonces ciertamente serás avergonzada y humillada A causa de toda tu maldad.

23 T hou didst inhabit Lebanon, thou didst make thy nest in the cedars. How shalt thou cry out when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

Tú que moras en el Líbano, Anidada en los cedros, ¡Cómo gemirás cuando te vengan los dolores, Dolores como de mujer de parto!

24 A s I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet I would pluck thee from there;

“Vivo Yo,” declara el Señor, “aunque Conías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, fuera un anillo en Mi mano derecha, aun de allí lo arrancaría.

25 a nd I will give thee into the hand of those that seek thy soul and into the hand of those whose face thou dost fear, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

“Te entregaré en manos de los que buscan tu vida, sí, en manos de los que temes: en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y en manos de los Caldeos.

26 A nd I will cast thee out and thy mother that bore thee into another country, where ye were not born, and there ye shall die.

Te arrojaré a ti y a la madre que te dio a luz a otro país donde no nacieron, y allí morirán.

27 B ut to the land unto which they de sire to return, they shall not return there.

Pero a la tierra a la cual con toda el alma anhelan volver, a ella no volverán.

28 I s this man Coniah a despised broken idol? Is he a vessel in which there is no pleasure? Why are they cast out, he and his generation, and are cast into a land which they know not?

“¿Es acaso este hombre Conías una vasija despreciada y rota? ¿Es un objeto indeseable ? ¿Por qué han sido arrojados él y sus descendientes Y echados a una tierra que no conocían ?

29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

¡Oh tierra, tierra, tierra!, Oye la palabra del Señor.

30 T hus hath the LORD said, Write what shall be of this man deprived of a generation, a man unto whom nothing shall prosper in all the days of his life, for no man of his seed who sits upon the throne of David and rules over Judah shall prosper.

Así dice el Señor: ‘Inscriban a este hombre como sin hijos, Hombre que no prosperará en sus días; Porque ninguno de sus descendientes logrará Sentarse sobre el trono de David Ni gobernar de nuevo en Judá.’”
